Ok guys, we all know how Rowling loves symbolism and all related crap... Well I have a question: What does this mean about PETER Pettigrew?

Pettigrew has betrayed Harry Potter three times... Just as the biblical Peter betrayed (through denial) Jesus three times.

Harry is obviously Rowlings Christ Figure, as he is self-sacrificing to the extreme for the sins of the wizarding world. His power is "love" and he is offered the World in Book 1.

However, Biblical Peter redeems himself in the end... Raising the question, who thinks that Pettigrew will Redeem himself?

*put here instead of the Book 7 Speculation thread for a reason*

Nice parallel, I wouldn't put it past her, and it might actually be a decent plot idea in regards to canon; something that actually took thought, that is.

    Gio: Check your PM's.

As much as I hate him i just know she will to prove to everyone that even someone like Peter can be redemed. He might even help destroy voldemort because of the love he feels for Harry still *Barf* the power of love is the power harry has to inspire other people *If it is that I'm going to hunt down rowling and... I can't think of anything bad enough...*

Yes he does so of course JK is going to pull some BS about Peter sacraficing his life for Harry's so he and Ginny/Hermione/Cho/Pansy or whoever defeats him with LOVE POWER!

EDIT: If you really want to read how the canon should go then read the fic I put in the AU section.

I don't know Gio, that analysis seems a bit weak to me especially since there are stronger comparisons. Peter is undoubtedly a judas figure, Judas told the romans where jesus was and identified him, Peter revealed where the Potters were an enabled Voldemort to identify them. If this parallelism holds true maybe Peter will suffer one of Judas' deaths, I am personally rooting for bursting open like an over ripened melon.

But when you really think about it, Voldemort has a lot more in common with Jesus then Harry does. They are both leaders that clashed in one form or another with the establishment, they are both charismatic, and were close with a select group of their followers. They both have died and been resurrected, both of their followers fled when they died but they regained faith after the resurrections, they both have people doubt that they have returned from the dead. There is probably more that I am not aware of, but you get the jist of what I am saying. Sure their ideologies are radically different but they have similar circumstances.

In this case Snape is the most like the biblical Peter. We know of at least two instances where he denied Voldemort something, (the PS, killing Harry) and we know that Snape gets back in the fold and so far has made the largest impact for the cause (Killing Dumbledore) just like Peter did with the whole catholicism.

Karkaroff could be a Judas for Voldemort. Fudge is Doubting Thomas whether the Jesus figure is Voldemort or Harry.

And in this particular case Pettigrew could be Mary Magdalene since in some gospels she cared for Jesus similarly to the way that Wormtail did when Voldemort was still bodiless.

I mean no offense to any Christians, but if you are going to talk about parallelism between Harry Potter and the Bible that comparison should be noted.

there was some interview a while ago where someone asked rowling if anyone has asked her about the similarities between religion (judeo-christian) and harry potter.

she responded that she avoids those questions, and tries to keep readers from that route because it would come too close to spoiling the ending of the books.

i've always taken that to mean harry dies.

at this point, i hope he dies.

Now I hope he dies too, but I don't think Rowling will let that happen. I believe in the end everybody has redeemed himself (Snape, Pettigrew), Harry suddenly finds a magical picture of Sirius and everybody is happy.
I'll most likely burn book 7.
