According to JKR's world, Ron remembered how Harry said open in COS, and can imitate anyone's voice really really well. Plus Ron must know how to hiss very well. :wall:

It's all bullshit because how Harry learned that he had Parseltongue was that night he got the scar, some powers that Tom Riddle has, was given to him, and that Tom Riddle inherited through genetics.

Not only does JKR take the fun out of Parseltongue by having Ron croak, she ensures that one of the better things about the series i.e. Harry being a Parselmouth too die down with that piece of soul.

She really killed off the series with that infernal last book. One doesn't need to look too far to find out who deserves the biggest and most brutal buggering out there.

Won-won, having a talent for languages, which has been obscurely never mentioned, but must be related to his awesome chess ability and the legendary Weasley virility, has repeated Mot à Mot the same phrase Harry used to open the Chamber of Secrets.

Hermione proceeded to gush over how awesome Won-won was.

A horrible scene, right up there with the fat housewife squealing "Not my daughter, bitch!"

I presume that a snake animagus speaks parseltongue while in snake shape. Would he still have the ability when he shifted back? And if he DID have the ability to speak parsel as human, would he have it immediately, the first time he shifted?

Why would you assume that? Did Sirius speak with other dogs in either form? McGonagall with Mrs Norris or Crookshanks?

If I remember correctly, Sirius was capable of communicating with Crookshanks in Book 3. And Wormtail had an affinity with rats, which allowed him to learn about Voldemort's hiding place in Albania.

So I assume that animagus have some sort of method to communicate with other animals.

I hadn't realised that. It's quite possible that animagi can learn to speak their species' languages just like Dumbledore learned parseltongue. All else being equal a snake animagi would have an equipment advantage (senses and tongue) over anyone else in learning parseltongue. The same goes for other animagi and their languages.

A human baby can't speak any effective language just because it is human. It must learn to speak over time. Perhaps the same reasoning applies to animagi. Or, perhaps there really is some magic bestowing of perfect language skills.

Deus ex machina... Rowling needed Ron to get into the Chamber of Secrets, therefore Ron suddenly and miraculously manifested the ability to croak out a a word in a magical language. Funny thing about being an author; you can do whatever the hell you want in a story. It's bullshit, yes, but that's DH. And I agree with Methene, it's up their with an idiotic bitch of a housewife taking down a woman hailed as the Dark Lord's right hand.

What? Parseltongue was one of the better bits of the series? What the hell are you on? The ability to speak to snakes is pretty much useless.

Regarding "talking to animals". Animals don't have language. Sirius cannot "talk to dogs" because dogs cannot talk, in "dog language" or any other language.

If you'll look at the books, even snakes can't really talk, not even in their own magical language - they can say the occasional word that expresses their desires (Kill...blood...rip, bite, tear etc.) but complex communication is beyond them. The most complex bit of communication from snake to human that we've seen is between Harry and the Brazilian snake in PS, and much of that was through body language.

Snakes talking coherently to humans in a complex way is fanon.
