Argh! I hate it when authors abandon good stories. I say another author, a good one, like vash or ip or somebody take up this cup and continue the story. Too good ideas here to be wasted. Maybe someone do rewrite?

You'll need his permission first, and to get his permission he has to sign on, so either way were screwed.

 

How bout this. One more month, just one more. If he doesnt log on than his fic is free for all. A rewrite. Thats what we want!

Besides its not copyright or anything. And fan fiction is all about fiction from fans... So if we are fans of this guy's work we can write fan fiction based on it .Right? Err Right???

No that is stupid. It is his work and we don't know if he wants it continued.

 

It would also, according to the official rules of this forum, be classed as an offence that could result in the person being banned. A mod/admin might want to have a say as they will be able to give a definite verdict.

But you guys are right. Although this story is a great idea, it is the author's idea, not ours. Sigh... Its so hard to find good fics these days and it almost pains me to see such a good fic like this one go unattended. :cry:

 

I don't think it's unethical if someone else continued the story for him. He has no copywrite to it, and as long as the person gives him credit for the idea their is no deciet involved. Not to mention it's pretty short and seems to be abandoned; after all, we 'continue' Harry Potter stories even though JK created the series.

Finally somebody sees it from my point of view. IF their is a good fic that is abandoned it should be our duty to continue it and provide the readers with good story. Cant let good ideas go to waste! So I say we find an author and have them continue the story! So whos up for it? Who wants to rewrite the fic? By the way take the dreaming shit out of it. The whole soul spirit shit had me going WTF?

 

Look, you can't just take up a story with out the author's permission. It doesn't matter if it's fanfiction or not. You have no permission anyways so don't even try it.

 

Well actually I would not mind at all as long as it was done better than my story but whatever. Sure I will pm him and ask. And I will wait for a while, like a month. But if he doesnt answer than I will think of doing a rewrite. I might not and I might just forget about this...

I don't think Contempt's been on...so I doubt he gave Tridentwatch permission to continue his story.

Well if he didn't get permission should he be reported or whatever?

 

It really gets my back up that he didn't even acknowledge that he wasn't the one to conceive the idea. Even if Contempt did give him permission, which at this moment I very much doubt, it would be common courtesy to at least thank the guy for the idea.

I, personally, had no problem hitting the 'report possible abuse' button. Hopefully FF.Net will do something about it.

 

Nor did I, or did I have a problem telling him exactly how little I thought of him in a review. Hopefully the fic will be pulled, but with the FFN admins' general laziness lately I doubt it.

 

Did JK Rowling give any of you permission to write Harry Potter stories? That rule is stupid and hypocritical.

That said, I don't care much either way, but getting mad at someone for continuing another persons story when they've abandoned it, and they don't have any rights to the charactors/plot/etc. is pretty stupid all things considered.
