Wands? I'd rather see Sirius with elephant gun, Van Pelt-style.
why can't have both?
They do try to work with that is more familiar with them, but their poor wands are quite limited, so they adapt adding guns to their arsenal, an attitude they will carry with them when they return to the Wizardry world.
D R O P P E D
Provided that I ever finish up with Cursebreaking Hamunaptra, I just had an idea for a sequel of sorts- Cursebreaking Castlevania. While Bill was gallivanting across Egypt to unknowingly put Imhoptep back in the grave for good, Charlie and his allies assisted the Romanian government with a heritage site of their own, Vlad the Impaler's ruins. Mysterious activities at the site warranted investigation. Cue Dracula's resurrection by a group of dark priests.
Now, what I could do at that point is have Charlie go missing and bring Bill in for another adventure, or, I could shift tact and develop Charlie instead fighting his way through the hordes of ghouls, bats, medusa heads and onward to the Vampire Lord himself in order to escape the castle and its parallel dimension.
I'm starting to really favor the latter scenario the more I think about it, letting Charlie get some needed screen time, for a couple of reasons - I'm already struggling to give Bill more unique magic that doesn't rely on a wand and I'm trying not to reuse what he's already shown too much, and I could let Bill hook up with Evie at the end of Hamunaptra and live rather happily for a time.
I've also not done much with Charlie before now, and since he's supposed to play a big part in Auror Potter v the World, this would give me a chance to build up his character more. Plus he can actually use his wand and whatever other little trinkets I might come up with.
Plot Bunny: an accident with a poorly-made Calming Draught leaves Harry permanently incapable of giving a damn about anything.
"Dursleys being dicks? Whatever, mate."
"Hagrid raising a dragon? Neat."
"Ginny kidnapped by the Heir of Slytherin? Cool story."
"Voldemort is back? That's too bad. Hey, wanna play chess?"
Obviously, this is going to be a big problem. Especially if it turns out that no one knows how to reverse it.
Wormtail finds Tom in Albania, but they don’t return to England. After all, what hold does the wizarding world of Britain have on the great Voldemort?
(This is a direction my old horror prompt from October briefly intersected on before I gave it up)
A D&D group of muggleborns joins Hogwarts during Harry's time as the resident Defense professor. As they learn more about magic(~third or more likely fifth year) they come to him with a request to get a 'real' campaign running, and Harry naturally obliges, because why not? He gets Hagrid to supply the 'monsters', Charlie to supply some smaller dragons, Slughorn to assist with potions, and he himself acts as dungeon master using the Room of Requirements as the dungeon.
After a good old time he steps down at the end of the year and a new dungeon master steps into the role from among the students. All goes well until one day in the middle of the next school year one of the group staggers into his office and begs for his help, the new dungeon master has lost control over things and the Room has asserted itself as the new DM, and Harry has to act as the overpowered NPC assisting the student to rescue the others who are trapped. But now the Room is actively working to subdue Harry too.
Some ideas that I won't ever write.
Harry Potter: Assault on Albania
Harry's school life went semi-normally. No attacks by Voldemort, but some of Death Eaters wanting revenge. Sirius escaped but was exonerated as Pettigrew was caught. Fearing that Voldemort may return when he will be dead Dumbledore starts slowly training Harry from his fifth year onwards later including him in the Order of Phoenix.
Now, Harry Potter, twenty-one years old is a rising star of Auror Department and is sent along with Ron and Tonks as a British part of ICW organised multinational taskforce to investigate and eliminate a reason for vampire unrest in Albania that endangers International Statute of Secrecy. And while the leader of the taskforce thinks it just an internal vampire conflict, Order suspects that behind all of this may be a resurrected Voldemort gathering his army. Which one is true? Will the taskforce members be able to overcome internal disagreements to fight an external threat? And how bad the threat really is?
Harry and co. fighting vampires, trying to figure if Voldemort is behind this (of course he is), while the larger team barely function as a team as it consists mainly of people that Auror departments considered most expendable.
How to tune your dragon?
After defeating Voldemort Harry got quickly bored with his life. In the search for new excitements, he goes through many wizarding extreme sports finally encountering something that can hold his attention - illegal dragon races. Brutal, and dangerous they require more than forcing a dragon to do rider's bidding - it requires making dragon tough enough to survive the whole race.
Harry in the world of dangerous illegal racing, using a combination of various techniques riders make their dangerous beasts even more dangerous in the name of winning. We see him race, we see him learn and use various creative techniques to tune his dragon all to get to the top of dragon racing underoverground.
Around the World in Eight Months
Tired of the atmosphere in Britain after defeating Voldemort, Harry decides to reverse traditional order of events and use the eight months before Hogwarts open again to do a Grand Tour and explore the world. Along with him go Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny and Luna and as expected with Harry's luck they constantly end up being involved in some adventures.
Exactly what it says on the tin.
I have no idea for the title.
Grindelwald was thought dead after his fight against Dumbledore. Mistakenly, though he actually left this world. But while his failsafe was supposed to shift him away from our reality for only a day, it's in 1997 when he reappears in his hideout. Dumbledore is dead, and Voldemort basically took over Britain while ICW does nothing because he masks his little acts of genocide from the muggles. Seeing his point being proven, he creates a fake identity and sets out to start his revolution again. First stop - Britain.
The story went similarily to canon until the end of HBP, but with Dumbledore's investigation being less successful. Thus, Order doesn't know what to do and all seems lost until Grindelwald in the guise of a new charismatic and talented wizard arrive. Initially distrustful members of the Order have to accept his help out of lack of alternatives. His first step is to make Harry into his champion an a PR asset.
So I´ve been playing Persona 5 recently (great game btw, recommend it to any fan of rpg´s) and I noticed there´s so much potential for a HP crossover with the Personaverse. The whole idea of high school kids waking up to this world created by adult´s curropted hearts/dreams and facing them while awakening their connection to their inner selves/personas could really allign itself with a curropted Ministry. I think it would have to take place arround 5th year if the whole aspects of relationship giving power is taken into account. Most people allienated Harry, thus making it hard for him to connect with his classmates.
I love the heist approach that Persona 5 took for the metaverse. So I would love to see a group akin to the Phantom Thieves tackle the Palaces of different Ministry officials, teachers (this one of course being Umbridge) and other corrupt members of wizarding society.
So I was just watching a random anime today and I saw this image. What can we do with it?
Holy Potter - Blood of Sorcerer and a Dragon
Maybe a magic version of Digimon.
Spoiler: cool pic
Instead of tech and data it's rituals and blood.
I can't decide if it should be a separate world next to canon, where the characters stumbled into or straight up the main course.
Different characters could bond with different magical creatures such as Basilisks, Nundus or Sphinxes.
Some crazy dark wizard somewhere in the world managed to breed a new kind of dragon. Spellresistant and rapidly reproducing.
Spoiler: Dark Wizard
Basically Reign of Fire with wizards. Can you imagine an older Harry riding Sirius' motorcycle and Hagrid with a giant crossbow killing dragons.
Harry Potter School of Prayer and Miracles
All this started because I watched an episode of History channel's Forged in Fire yesterday and I was running low on time for last night's writing session.
On the ten year anniversary of the previous Triwizard Tournament, the magical governments want to give the matter another shot and set about with an 'alumni edition' in which only past students who have graduated are allowed to compete.
Naturally, Harry, Fleur, and Victor are all invited back as the first picks for the Champion role from each school. Fleur either declines because she's still happily married to Bill, thus Gabrielle goes in her stead and we get a Harry/Gabrielle pairing, or Fleur accepts because she divorced Bill in 1999 per Cursebreaking Hamunaptra's backstory and has since then been regaining fame and glory in France, thus a Harry/Fleur pairing by the end.
Harry accepts. He's either the Defense Professor at Hogwarts for the past few years, or a fairly gifted Auror(in example, the Harry/Tonks concept in my WbA thread). Regardless, he either broke up with Ginny or never married her(nor Tonks in the Auror!Potter route), thus the path is open for which Delacour fits best.
Victor presumably accepts, with to this point no real divergence from his canon history unless I can come up with something brilliant following his retirement two years earlier. He would have developed the same craving for success that Fleur's second route presented.
Anyway, the first challenge is to forge a sword with dragon fire. Then to go slay the dragon whose fire they had just used to make the weapon with no more auxiliary items like wands for assistance. Points awarded for weapon durability, efficiency in the slaying, and status of health upon success -- if they don't fail and have to retreat. If the weapon breaks, they go back and forge another. They don't leave until they're dead or the dragon is.
And that's all I've got so far. This idea just won't get out of my head and I really want to play with it and see where it goes.
If you actually write this drop the alumni part and just make it a straight up re-match due to the tournament being fucked the first time around. Doesn't have to be a proper Triwizard Tournament, maybe some sort of charity or diplomacy thing to commemorate a new student exchange program or something.
Here's a plot bunny.
Harry somehow travels back in time to Albus's young years. Finding out the time he decides to save Ariana from her fate.
Unfortunately he screws up the whole timeline. Now he either has to set it back somehow or continue forward while taking care of Ariana himself.
Not sure how I feel about the whole "Forging a sword" thing. Isn't the whole point of the TriWIZARD Tournament to test their skills as Wizards/Witches? If they don't get to use magic to kill the dragon (which is another point I don't agree with, would the Reserves really give out dragons to be killed like that) then it might just be another event completely with them being called because of their previous achievements.
Donimo's suggestion is also something to take into consideration, a straight up rematch could be better for the story since it would be announced directly as what it is. If it was the whole "Special Edition" thing, in the context of the story, imagine how you would feel as a student to know that they are hosting a dangerous and exciting event for students, and then they just say students won't participate.
It's a cool idea. With some tweaking it could be a really fun read.
Does anyone think it's possible to actually doing anything with Delphi as a character, or would this pretty much be a doomed project? I sort of had an idea for her for a fic I planned on writing, but I really don't think I'm gonna get round to it anytime soon given I'm now very much into the fourth year of my PhD. It would basically be a crossover with the Dark Tower.
Idea is that Delphi is initially being raised by Euphemia Rowle. It isn't a loving relationship at all and Delphi strongly dislikes her, but she gets treated better by Rowle than Harry did by the Dursleys prior to PS. Still, Delphi thinks she has a shitty life, and blames Harry for it and wants revenge. One day when she's thinking about this in bed, she hears tapping at the window and sees a crow starting at her intently. Suddenly she then hears a voice in her head, which offers her revenge on Potter and to make her even more powerful than her father ever was. Delphi accepts and the crow flies off.
Two days later, Randall Flagg shows up. He taunts Rowle in to trying to kill him, and she fires off a killing curse at him which has absolutely no effect. Flagg then murders her in a particularly gruesome manner, before approaching Delphi and asking her whether still wants what he offered before. Delphi accepts, and Flagg proceeds to raise her as his own daughter.
Harry Potter and the Invaders of the Large Tomb
Crossover with Overlord set during Order of the Phoenix.
Instead of being transported to the New World, the Great Tomb of Nazarick appears in the Potterverse in the middle of the Forbidden Forest.
Initially, things go the same as in Overlord canon for Ainz Ooal Gown. He realizes that the game he was in became real, he meets the Floor Guardians and inspects everything.
Of course, once he sends Sebas out to explore this new land things diverge immediately as he encounters the magical creatures living there and then meets the Centaurs.
Once Ainz realizes that they're no longer in Yggdrasil but instead on Earth, he'll investigate more and realize that this isn't the Earth he knows. For one, he's in the past and a whole magical secret society exists. I have no doubt that Ainz will send out his servants to infiltrate this wizarding society.
Meanwhile, Dumbledore learns from Firenze that something strange is happening in the Forbidden Forest and suspects Voldemort's involvement.
Eventually I'd want Ainz Ooal Gown to become a new player in the Second Wizarding War. He's definitely not allying himself with Voldemort and he'll most likely want to take over the wizarding world for himself.
Also, it would be interesting to see Ainz duel Voldemort. While Ainz relies on mana and Voldemort does not, Ainz is very powerful to the point of being OP. Then again, HP wizards are OP too, so it could just be an equal battle.
I also have this fantastic scene in mind where a group of wizards investigate the Great Tomb of Nazarick and see just how horrifying it really is.
"Quite limited" and need to add guns.
...I don't even.
Harry and Sirius crash land in Jumanji world.
They lose or didn't come with their original wands.
So they need to make their own wands, who aren't best fit and quite limited in their own way, which is why they need more firepower in the form of fire arms.
Even if they do keep their original wands.
Guns have some benefits wands don't share.
Lots of kinetic fire power fast and accurate, sometime it is more easy to point a gun.
Rarely people touch the mixture of guns and magic
