Well, yes. This would be a Dumbledore-centric story. Just because you're setting the story in Buffyverse does not mean Buffy has to be the star.

 

But it does mean that there should be some measure of conflict and balance. Otherwise it's just a fanwank.

 

It'd depend on the author.

Perhaps there are gods in the Buffyverse that would not be easy to defeat with HP magic.

The First Evil comes to mind.

Or how about a plot related to the Elder Wand? Perhaps literal Death gets involved.

 

Somehow I don't see Dumbledore going through the graveyards hunting newborn vampires, or crawling through the sewers.

 

Certainly not. Just charm the graveyard to set all vampires on fire.

 

He doesn't wake like he should.

One moment there's nothing and the next everything is. The sound of cars and teeming masses is muffled by the closed window and shuddering AC, groans and moans from the floor above. The faint stench of lye and bleach, mixing with dirty clothes, along with something vague and unpleasant. Like seared meat and hair. All of the world backed by a soft susurous at the edge of his senses, a song teasing at him like a razor at neck, ready to draw red.

The covers stick to his chest as he sits up, wipes at the sweat on his face, and steps out of bed. A roach crunches under foot as he walks towards the window and watches. Staring out he sees them burning away, even this late into the night, a time reserved for lurkers and criminals. They wear their garish colors and faces, carrying bad blood and even worse intentions.

Across the street a hooker steps into a new john's car, her heroin thin frame dissapperring into the shadows of tinted windows.

The lime green tiles in the bathroom sear his eyes as the light flickers on. Water sputters out from the faucet and he washes his face to the staccato drip-drip of the bathtub. After shaving a day's growth from his face, he dresses and prepares for the night. Dark blue jeans, worn from use and wash, fit him comfortably along with the belt. the pockets remain empty except for a wallet carrying his face and someone else's name and a packet of gum. The fresh, white t-shirt fits snugly and worn work boots with brown socks cover his feet.

The jacket hangs from the only hanger in his small closet. Freshly washed and pressed, it still carries the lingering smell of a previous night's work. It goes over him like armor, perfectly fit, and buttons all the way up.

After the phone gives the instructions he heads down and out, into the humid Miami night air. The desicated palms trees in front of the building shift slightly in the wind, their soft moans speaking over the moving night crowd. He stands and watches, for a moment, as they slide by him as superficial and insubstantial as the wind. The moment passes and he walks towards the car, it's form reflecting the neon and lights on the street. Ckick, the door shuts and the car purrs to life.

Merging into the street he drives away.

AN: Just something that's been bouncing around my head after replaying Hotline Miami. I pumped it out after getting some time off from a work. Feels too rough to do anything with, but I might do something with it later.

 

A twist on 'Harry sends back his memories'.
Harry from crapsack world (Manipulative!Dumbledore, Order and Weasleys conspiring to take Potter fortune etc) sends his memories to the pre-Hogwarts version of himself. Harry is looking at every event in his life through the lens of his Alt-self paranoia, misinterpreting everything and slowly convincing himself that everybody is out to get him.

 

The world of Buffy meshes poorly with most other verses. Hp magic is hilariously OP to the point where a third year could handle a vamp. Something would have to be changed to balance things

 

What if the arrival of a Potterverse wizard affects things on a global scale?

Demons get stronger, Vampires get stronger (Hellsing comes to mind), all magic-users have their magic changed to Potterverse-magic and even the Slayer (Buffy) gets a powerful upgrade.

 

That's the ultimate crossover sin, in my eyes: nerfing or übering-up one universe compared to the other in order to make the crossover work. It means you're no longer crossing over the two universes, but rather AUs, which rather destroys much of the appeal of a crossover in the first place, which is to see the canon versions of the characters interact.

What if was a fusion though? The point of a fusion is to combine things in a balanced way, after all.

If you were combining the Potterverse and Buffyverse, you'd have to find a way to include both HP magic and the Slayer/Vampire mechanics.

In fact, I'd argue that in some aspects Buffyverse magic can be stronger, especially if you look at Willow who was able to raise the dead and attempted to destroy the world.

 

I was thinking of a crossover story and I have a question. Can someone suggest a story wherein Harry (or the main character) actually cross back and forth between worlds more than once?

But with that. Voldemort would not embark on this whole quest of death, murder and destruction, because he would not even need to murder anyone to get a shiny new body.

 

I'm fine with Harry blushing. I have issue of Tonks and Remus fuckin' Lupin blushing.

Voldemort didn't need to murder anyone to restore his body. He did, but that was mainly because he wanted Harry's blood for the resurrection.

Even if new bodies could be magically constructed (which isn't that farfetched), Voldemort would still need to split his soul - which requires murder.
