Fated

Jon Snow is the prince that was promised and Azor Ahai. Destined to defeat the Others and stop the Winter from taking over the world for all eternity.

Until he dies that's it.

Betrayed by his brothers in the Night's Watch he wakes up in the past, months before the King visited Winterfell and everything went south. He has a chance to fix everything and does a reasonably good job until he dies again, this time killed by a stray arrow in a battle against Lannisters.

Only to wake up in the past and try again. Because apparently being fated to defeat the Others doesn't mean the gods have any good idea how to do it themselves other than simply let him repeat his attempts until he gets it right.

Even if it will take forever.

Generally, I see it as a series of mostly one shots, building up to the grand finale where he finally manages to defeat the Others by mostly going with the flow and using everything he learned up to this point.

Some possible loops for Jon:

1. Jon staying in Winterfell and helping Robb. It's the first one where he ends with an arrow in his heart.

2. Joining the Free Folk and over time becoming their King.

3. Simply wandering and achieving a status of a true knight who protects the innocents from evils of this world.

4. Joining the High Sparrow in the loop where he's slowly losing his own faith.

5. Listening to an advice from Sam, joining the Citadel.

6. Travelling around the world as a sailor and visiting place where he believes may be hidden answers to stopping the Others' invasion (Asshai etc.) Ending when he crosses the Faceless Men after trying to take Arya from them.

7. Tried of fruitless search, joining the sellsword company. Even there he can't escape his fate completely as he joins the Golden Company and discovers Blackfyre machinations.

8. After getting a notoriety as an excellent swordsman joining the Kingsguard as the youngest member since Jaime.

 

I remember a similar idea that got written out a while back that had Rheagar instead, quite the depressing piece of work actually. I'll link it here if I find it later.

You're probably thinking of Snowfall. which did originally have a Robb/Jon pairing but I think the author decided not to do it. I only read the first few chapters, but I'm sure you should be instead thinking of To Go Forward, a vastly superior Jon Snow Peggy Sue.

Tony Stark is Ned's cousin, son of Rickard Stark's younger brother who travelled to Braavos looking for a chance in life. He became a wealthy merchant there. His son though turned out to be a man ahead of his time and a brilliant inventor. Da Vinci of this world, only he doesn't paint. He manages to create an alloy almost as strong as Valyrian steel and make an armour from it.

Natasha is a former Faceless Man. She betrayed them and now is on the run. Clint Barton is a sellsword (or rather a sellbow) who befriended her along they way. They both are hired by Stark to help Arya once he discovered what happened to her.

Thor is a mysterious warrior saying he's a god sent to this world by his father as a punishment for some wrongdoing. He's probably just crazy, but is surprisingly well informed when it comes to secrets of faith and magic.

Steve is a legend among the Free Folk. Rumours say he was asleep for thousands years and only recently woke up to once again fight against the Others as he did in the last Long Night.

Maester Bruce Banner is a former student of Archmaester Marwyn. His alchemical experiments uncovered his dark side called Lord Fixit who controls a big part of criminal underworld of the Free Cities. Alternatively, he just offers a medical need to poor and these who can pay for his silence. Either way, you wouldn't like it when he gets angry.

 

Star Wars Plot Bunny:

Ack to the Future - Admiral Ackbar goes on a journey through time to stop the Galactic Empire before it began.

 

Novelising or Fanficing the Sole Survivor background of Mass Effect, maybe a short 3-5 chapter fic.

 

Colonel O'Neill, Captain Carter and Doctor Jackson are not part of Stargate Command, nor does the Stargate even exist. Instead, they work at the Black Mesa Research Facility and are part of a team whose job is to venture through a man-made portal to the borderworld, Zen.

 

The war against the Others was lost and there are only few survivors hiding in the three-eyed raven's cave. They have a plan though.

Using Bran's powers, they send Jon back in time to change the past and save the future. But he's not going to do it in his own body because instead he finds himself in roles of other people.

Basically it's GoT/Quantum Leap fusion with Jon being Sam, Bran being Ziggy and Tyrion being Al. Though to make it work, the changes they do in the past, don't change their future. Rather, by changing what could be called an alternate world's history that up to Jon's appearance was identical to their own, they want to make ripples that will in the end reach their own timeline and make things better for humanity.

It's an explanation to why Jon needs more than one leap and why the setup of the situations he finds himself in is from the canon instead of being affected by his previous actions.

Some leaps:

1) Jon finds himself a second before his first tilt in the tourney at Harrenhal ('oh boy' moments are must). As Ser Barristan Selmy can he not only stop the Prince from winning it, but find some sort of happiness for the bold knight with a woman he silently loves?

2) Jon is Rhaegar few moments before Robert defeated him. Assuming he survives, can he bring peace and stability to Westeros?

3) Jon is Arthur Dayne facing Ned Stark at the Tower of Joy. As a sole survivor, what should he do with a younger version of himself?

4) Jon is Joffrey before he orders Ned's execution. Saving his father is easy, but stopping the war is not.

5) Jon is Jaime Lannister before he pushed out Bran. How can he save his own brother without causing a Lannister massacre that will only lead to even a bigger war?

 

Pokemon concept.

During Red's trials on Mount Silver, certain well connected powers within the Indigo League, seeking retribution for his actions that ultimately cost them a great deal of wealth, power, and influence with the destabilization and disbanding of Team Rocket, track down his pokedex signal and hack in to disable not only the device, but also his pokeballs. Essentially trapped in the most dangerous location in the known regions, unable to call upon his expertly trained team and short of time to get aid in breaking the locks before his pokemon perish within, Red must find a way back to civilization and to the only man that might be able to help him - Professor Oak and/or Bill.

But his steps will be impeded if he can even get down to the pokecenter at the base of the mountain, as trainers are deployed to make sure he dies one way or another. He can't trust anyone - and he's likewise locked out of the pokemon stored online.

The idea is to explore more of the locality and give Red a new sense of purpose beyond just 'training' up on the mountain. Build up the threat and pressure thanks to the time limit on his team, keep him on the run even after he returns to Kanto, force him to work outside of his norm. Any captures he might make are tied to his pokedex and thus go into the same stasis period as soon as the capture is completed.

 

Not going to lie, Zenzao, that sounds fucking amazing.

 

Star Wars story concept. Time is 3 movie.

Our intrepid MC is a secretary to a politician and he has some political ambitions of his own . Plan is to work for in his current job for a few years until he makes a good impression and jump to a better one, like political analyst or something like that. And he hopes to be one of the advisers to a big wig. You know have good life doing something he is interested in.

That lasts until a Jedi Master on a "very urgent" mission runs smack in to him asking to be let in to see his boss. The same boss which asked him to not let anyone in. He doesn't want to be disturbed. Jedi master uses mind trick to let him in. Which is the wrong thing as far his boss concerned. He is let go without severance pay for contract violation.

So here he is, no job, no prospects since he doesn't have a good record, little money. His best friend offers to sue Jedi Temple pro bono but they need proof if they want to win. Video is sadly not sufficient.

The tone I would go for this story would be tragicomic. The MC tries to prove it but constantly hits the wall, A jedi made me do it becomes the running joke at the courts. Temple Lawyers stops him going to Temple by a restraining order etc. Than one day he figures out that Temple does keep records of the missions that Jedi goes and the Jedi Master has written down enough to incriminite himself.

He goes to Court, wins and Temple agrees to pay a fair sum. Court gives a date for payment. The night before Anakin becomes Vader and attacks the temple.

I like the idea, it's always fun to have Star Wars characters operating in the shadows of the greater universe, but I feel like the Jedi might just pay up. They are an organization dedicated to doing Good and presumably they try to clean up their messes. Of course you could handwave that by saying that the Senate or Republic courts handle all liability for the Jedi and no one in the order knows, but bashing the Jedi always rubs me the wrong way.

 

The Jedi are one thing, but here he'd be dealing with lawyers.

 

You could have a sequel where he tries to get his money out of the Empire, lol.

 

Well Jedi is distracted by the war and they let Temple Lawyers handle minutue. As far as they are concerned it is not their problem, It is between that Master and the courts. Hell if Courts were to call him to testify he would do it and tell that he did do it.

Problem is the war. The guy is deployed to front line and can't come back -behind the enemy lines perhaps?-

And Temple does keep records and Lawyers on staff for these kind stuff. So they can focus on the war. And Lawyers makes a point to get a restaining order. And all the cominications is routed to Lawyers etc. This whole thing is bureaucratic nightmare. And the worst part is Jedi has no idea that is happening. If they knew they would be horribly embarassed.
