I wanted to make one of characters in my story asexual, but couldn't get details right like - do they find people hot? Can they have sex (males) or are basically impotent? Can they enjoy it, but they just don't have a need for it? And so on.

Actually, since she also has eyes like a bird, I'm going to say that Hooch was actually a time traveling animagus who spent too much time in her animal form, causing parts of her not to switch back.

Long story shot, she goes back in time, finally gets stuck as 100% owl, and Hagrid eventually buys her for Harry. :awesome

Or was it that she started out as an owl, then went back in time and became human when she was hit with that Killing Curse in DH? :facepalm

I've been thinking about the this month's contest on crossovers, and I've been reading Joe's most excellent Wasteland of Time. And I got this idea, so...

Harry didn't Disapparate in time at the end of WoT. He was incapitated by the rewinding of time and his rebirth, but instead of suffering eternal agony through this he was saved by Harry Potters.

I'm thinking 7 - 9 Harrys from various stories would be drafted to help.
At the moment, there'd be
Cursebreaker!Harry from Bungle/TML
-When writing with this character as focus, use 2nd person view like in JBern's story.
Compeador!Harry from Warrior's Heir (or Supersoldier!Harry from Learning to breathe)
-the resident muscle
The Count from Altered/Balanced Destinies (or Mr. Black from Make a Wish)
-the overpowered older Harry, probably not the one in charge but with more experience

and a few others, hopefully a Fem!Harry (or maybe, just maybe, Not-Harriet Potter from Jeram's MoGWL) and a Slytherin!Harry to throw into the mix too. The important thing is that they all have different skill sets. Maybe a younger Harry will be involved without the fighting power, but with the brains (I'm thinking MoR's Harry Potter-Evans-Vernes), or a metamorph!Harry who can do the stealth stuff.

Oh, and, no time travlers among them, or at least those who are cannot do time traveling within the story. WoT!Harry would be limited in what he can do, probably conscious enough just to give them some pointers (like, saving Fleur, finding Atlantis, fighting Voldemort etc) but that's it.

So...do you think that'd work?

 

Holy shit. Stratified second-degree fanfiction? I don't even think that's the right term for it, but I can't think of anything better.

That said, fuck me if I remember the end of WoT. Warrior's Heir I never finished, and the memory is a bit fuzzy. Learning to Breathe!Harry would make an... interesting insert. Perhaps A Black Comedy!Harry? Holy crap - Circular Reasoning!Harry. That would be fucking badass.

 

Sad truth is, I'm only now reading Browncoat, Green Eyes, and I haven't read A Black Comedy or Circular Reasoning yet (just reading WoT stalled my own writing for months).
Warrior's Heir is decent but it hadn't been updated for a year & a half. It makes me sad too.
...or maybe I can say that the Harry from that 'verse is AWOL due to being pulled/drafted.

 

A Black Comedy is incredibly hilarious, and Circular Reasoning is just incredible. Together they ought to take you between 15-25 hours to read, give or take a few.

Harry Potter from the Santi's story for your younger one?

HP a.k.a Francis White from Marquis Black? While I know some of DLP don't like a lot of her stories, the fact remain that the character is a mastermind and focus solely on wandless magic so it could be interesting to mix it with the others.

Resident rune, cursebreaking and demon-slyaing specialist. Thus far, the only one to get a solid spot because he is interesting to write about, especially when rotating to his POV.

"The Kid"
Santi's non-BWL Harry Potter, Less Wrong's Potter-Evans-Vernes (I know MoR is kind of diversive on this board but...oh, and PEV has the bonus of being a Ravenclaw). Jeram's Not-Harriet Potter (her--I mean his!--not having any spectacular skills means that aside from the lol value she--he--is the least likely choice at the moment). Forging The Sword's Gryffindor!Harry has the drive but not enough to back up here, just yet (which is a pity; OtWtG, FtS and MoR's three Harrys would possibly make an awesome bickering trio)


15-year-old, (codename pending) Harry
Slytherin!Harry from OtWtG and the Dumbledore'sApprentice!Harry from Divining Light/Conlaodh's Song are the top candidates for 15-year-old Harry. Smart and can handle themselves in a fight as well as other situations.


"Dark but Good"Harry.
For a darker, yet good Harry we have "The Prince" from PoDK (with his limited Old Magic) and Renegade Cause's Harry (and his merry band of simulacrums).


"Mentor" (older and overpowered) Harry.
Altered/Balanced Destinies' The Count fits but oddly, Mr. Black from Make a Wish kinda fits too, mentally if not physically. BCGE's spacefaring Harry is lower on the list at the moment.


"Warrior"Harry
Harry Potters that can do more than magical fighting. Supersoldier!Harry from LtB and Compeador!Harry from Warrior's Heir are two choices I have atm.


"Healer"Harry
Being sneaky and seeing that it is a rarity in fanon, I'm nominating an older version of Healer!Harry from my own story to fill the 'combat medic' role. Problem being it'd give away a lot of plot in my ongoing story.

Perhaps, just for the lolz, "Auror" Harry from canon will pop up too.

Oh, and, AK from "Dimension Hopping for beginners" is the one who assembled the team but isn't part of the team itself.

I'm thinking (excluding the original WoT!Harry) 7 regulars and 2 'guest' team members - this way I can sub in specialists for certain situations without wasting a spot on the team. In their spare times the Harrys will compare their lives etc. Some maybe mortified by the relationship situations of others, or found out things they wish they never did, and so on.

 

- They still find people hot
- They don't have to be impotent, I'm sure some are but it's not a requirement
- They get the phyical pleasure from it (The best way to think of it is that sex is no different to masterbation) but thats all.

I really like this idea for a mass crossover of stories. But why would so many badass characters convene, you'll need a really bad-ass villain(s). Maybe Harry from CR. He's Mab's slave in all but name, so if you gave Mab a reason, Harry would sorta have to lead her band of merry villainous men or woman.

 

Or maybe all the competent Voldemorts have gotten together to do something. They fucked up and summoned something even more evil than them and that thing subjugated the Voldemorts into doing it's work. Seal Team Harry just think it's Voldemorts messing around when it really turns out to be this big bad with an Army of Voldemorts and their Death Eaters at it's control. Plus whatever other Monster/Demons it has at it's disposal.

Or perhaps an Evil so Bad, it was consigned to the void eons ago, and all knowledge of it wiped from existence to prevent its return....but it can still reach into the various realities that border its prison as it dreams and influence things.

That would be cool. Cthulhu can call forth different monsters to try and stop them. Like if they have to go to Atlantis Cthulhu sends the Leviathan to stop them or the Kraken. Though watching different Harrys fight off a Leviathan would be epic.

 

All the different badass Harry's going around and doing their thing. Damn, but if that isn't an Epic mental image I don't know what is.

Keeping them distinct from each other could prove difficult though. The 'creator' of each Harry would have to have a bit of input into their behaviours.

 

I don't like this idea very much, to be honest. It sounds like it'll end up in a clusterfuck of poorly characterized Harry(s) and way too many points of view making it confusing.

Suggestions, though, Harry from Stranger in an Unholy Land. For villains, you could use competent Voldemorts (such as Renegade Cause's) or just have other Harry(s) (such as My Immortal).
