First years in a Fight Club. It wouldn't happen. Jump it forward to year six, and Harry finds the Fight Club through following Malfoy.

 

I could see Malfoy trouncing Harry in the first year duel, but not because Luscious (sp?) taught him earlier because a. most wizards don't get their magic until age 11, and b. Malfoy only got his wand a few weeks before school started. I could see Malfoy putting extra effort into dueling after school started to get good at it, though. He did after all conjure a snake in book 2 which is apparently NEWT level transfiguration.

 

I really, really hate you right now.

 

He is Lucius Malfoy, Lord of the Pimp Cane. Don't you forget it.

So, back to topic at hand: Plotbunnies.

This one's been stuck in my head for a while. Summed up in two words, It's Pirate!Harry.

Similar universe to Acton's Heir, where Magic "came out of the closet" in the early 18th century. Due to easy and convenient advances by magic, technology has been on hiatus for the past 300 years. Society is reversed, in that Muggles are the superiors and Magic-kind there lessers, slaves to use for cheap labor.

Then comes Harry. One day traveling around the docks, he is captured by British Soldiers. Forced onto one of HMS, he is used as a consigned sailor (common during the 18th and more heavily used now with Magic).

He, with many other wizards forced to drain themselves to move, control, and protect the ship, grow closer through the years.

Eventually the ship is attacked by pirates, and offered the chance to join them, Harry and the crew mutiny against their captors. And Harry becomes a badass pirate, sailing the seven seas.

 

That would be interesting, but would NEED hefty explaining - how the hell did the muggles get control?

Also, this is the first time I actually noticed it was Acton's heir, not Action's. I had been confused as to why Harry was the heir of a concept...

If the muggles somehow got their hands on whatever writes the Hogwarts acceptance letters, I could see them threatening the 11 year-old future wizards into servitude on threat of death.

 

Wow - they'd have one whole generation of untrained 11-year old wizards. There's no way to "enslave" wizards while they still have full use of their power, short of serious advances in neuroscience (-biology and -chemistry).

 

If by some chance, almost all adult were already dead it could be plausible. Of course you'd be left with a resistance of some sort, which would ultimately just make for a better fic.

 

I noticed almost all time travel fics never address what happens with Original!Harry. Badass Super Harry goes back in time to fix the future by jumping into his old body. But what if his 14 year old mind gets sent into the body of badass Harry with no knowledge of how he got there or what happened. He has to deal with his situation and try to to figure out what happened with his only clues coming from an apocalyptic wasteland.

Could be done from any point in time, doesn't have to be 4th year.

 

I'm pretty sure there was at least 2 or 3 fics in which the author deals with that, Dnar.

There is one that comes to mind in which younger Harry fights the possession and wins, absorbing all of older Harry's memories and shit. I don't remember what it was.

 

Shameless self-promotion, though admittedly, it's only the beginning and an oneshot.

 

Those all deal with older Harry meeting and fighting/teaching/melding with younger Harry. I'm talking about a fic where younger Harry gets older Harrys body and timeline. That is, younger Harry with no knowledge of how he got there or what happened in an apocalyptic scenario.

Ok, how about a combination crossover/redo fic that goes horribly wrong for both protagonists? Harry decides to go back in time to right all wrongs at the exact same time that, say, Naruto (or Percy Jackson or whoever) decides to do the same thing, and the magic in both cases is so similar that it causes a time travel collision? So Harry ends up in Naruto's/Percy's/whoever's body, and the other time traveller ends up in Harry's?

 

No good, that's retarded. Harry would probably go WTF at all the cartoon shit in the Naruto case, and Percy Jackson - I don't know what Harry would do, but the idea sucks all the same.

 

Harry would die from the first kunai thrown at him. Naruto would die from the first Avada Kedavra. The end.

 

Speaking of crossovers, and after reading Lord Anarchy's October entry in which there was a fem!Blaise, I am reminded of another idea of mine.

Instead of your usual gender-flipped Harry, we now have Ranma 1/2 style, cursed Harry, when he is hit by cold water he turns into a girl, and into a boy by hot water.

Or

Fem!Blaise is, in fact, a boy!Blaise who is cursed and thus will change into a girl when hit by cold water.

Either way, crack ensures.
The problem was that the idea alone can't really sustain a story, so I need something else for the plot.

 

And you'll also have to think of ways in which Harry would be coming into contact with hot water( assuming you want the transformations to occur as accidents).
