Jormungandr was talking about Snape. Lily manipulates Snape into killing Andromeda. Lily has nothing to do with Voldemort though.

Or at least that is what I thought he was implying.

Or Lily manipulated Snape, who manipulated another Death Eater into killing Andromeda. Thus he helped to set the stage, but Lily is still not allied with Voldemort.

Ahh, I can see how that would work. Ambiguous writing is ambiguous.

I really like your idea. You'll have to think of the second part of the plot though, after Lily becomes the main antagonist. Or it could be a sort of epilogue, I can't see Lily creating this drawn out conflict that can span chapters after chapters.

Just a thought, I can't see Lily killing Snape in tha duel you said. Or rather, I can't see Snape dying to Lily, Unspeakable or not. You could have Lily realize this, and trick him, knowing his feelings for her, before killing him.

It's a cool premise though, would like to see it in writing.

The idea is awesome but watch out for the little cliché here with the Unspeakables receiving special training. Maybe using the idea of Lily working for Dumbledore would better explained the training or dueling abilities of Lily.

If you make Dumbledore into some sort of violence ordering headman, and don't make it the best fucking thing out there, I will kill you. There is no point doing that if it's just going to be mediocre or bad.

This would be the potential start to a competent, confident and hopefully rather bad-ass Harry. He manages to get a full body-bind on Cedric before the Killing Curse, which misses. Harry escapes the graveyard, with Cedric's petrified body, who can then corroborate his story of Voldemorts rebith and Fudge is forced to act upon Dumbledore's advice.

Having saved Cedric's life, dueled the Dark Lord and won, in a sense, Harry's confidence is bolstered and from then on a more powerful and assertive Harry Potter can be written.

Boring. There are so many better ways you can kick off a competent!Harry. That just seems like a 'let's fix everything bad' story.

...unless you have Voldemort immediately enter his "kill everything" mode because he's been exposed. Bonus point if you start with him assassinating the entire Wizengamot with a magical bomb (or something) and send the entire Wizarding Britain into a government-less panic, so Harry has no time to train up at all.

Or him just striding into said Chambers, and WTFpwning everyone.

Subtly and manipulation has its uses, but why use a chisel when a hammer can do the same job, quicker?

What about Dudleys son is a wizard and Harry is Hogwarts headmaster but Dudleys son turns dark over the years of hogwarts and pulls a blood purity uprising for muggleborn rights, thoughts?

...any particular reason you want to use Dudley's son in this?
It's just that, it's my understanding DLP deplores next gen fics in general.

    ---------------
    Building on h2o's idea.

-Harry and Cedric survive the Graveyard, though Voldemort is resurrected successfully.
-Harry and Cedric escape to warn Dumbledore and a reluctant Fudge.
-Fudge gets the Wizengamot to commence an emergency session; unfortunately, Voldemort finds out and entering his 'kill them all' mode, well...kills them all. Fudge is now missing, presumed dead, while Voldemort destroyed the government infrastructure of the British Wizarding World.
-Bonus points: both Beauxbatons and Durmstrang Triwizard delegations are stuck in Britain now, and the foreigners have to work with the Brits.
-hunting season of muggles, muggleborns, and blood traitor begins.
-Harry & co. now in deep shit.

I have this idea of Mentor-Apprentice Dumbledore-Harry story where Dumbledore takes a 10 yr old Harry to teach him about the world. Obviously this would need some AU but the core of the story would be this relationship.

One scene that will not leave me:
Harry is left on a rock (very reminiscent of the hbp horcrux) only instead of surrounded by inferi, he is surrounded by memories. Memories of the war and its victims. The only way out is to watch every memory inside and swim through them to the other shore.

Dumbledore lesson here: "Before I teach you how to use fight, my dear boy, it is necessary that you be taught why we must fight."

Another is a conversation that goes something like this :

"Harry, you must understand that your speed must be greater than that of any of your contemporaries. Circumstance forces us to move as such. You have sacrificed much to get to this point, and I am forced to ask much more from you. You have to exceed your limits, Harry. Your enemies are much more stronger than you and we have barely any time to teach you the necessary."

"But, Professor, how can I learn so much in so little time? It's impossible."

"There is a way, Harry. There is always a way. But the way ahead is the most difficult, most painful and exhausting one can ever be expected to walk. Will you still walk this path?"

"Of course, I will. I would do anything I could to stop him."

"Then Harry, carve these words into memory: You have to be the greatest student the world has ever seen. It must matter not who is in front of you; you must learn from them. Everyone has something they can teach you Harry, and you must be able to learn from them."

    So, any good?

It has the vague possibility of being a good read, and I'd probably give it a try if you wrote it, since I like Dumbledore and Harry in a Mentor/Apprentice setting. But you really would need to flesh it out a bit more than you have there.
