That could be a pretty interesting one-shot, though probably not an entire story (people would get bored eventually). In fact, someone could probably write a story like that from Lily's perspective, but based around the canonverse.

I actually imagined that too, but decided I liked the makes-a-new-body direction better. We're looking forward to your version, so get writing...

And another idea come into my head this afternoon, about Harry's luck's origins.

The truth is, Lily created Harry's luck. When she was 20 years old, Lily unearthed an ancient magic, a very powerful magic that allowed the caster to made a deal with The Devil/Fate/Destiny. She did this, and made a deal in which results on The Devil/Fate/Destiny giving Harry a great amount of "luck" for his life. Lily thought that by doing that, Harry will have enough luck on his side to survive all years she knew he had to go through: living in the Dursleys, Hogwarts years, facing many challenges (including Basilisk, Dementors, and Voldemort himself), and so on.

But eventually, Harry runs out of luck. Years after Voldemort's death, (maybe when Harry is 25 years old) The Devil/Fate/Destiny came to earth and meets Harry, demanding the sacrifices that Lily had promised from the deal she made long time ago . The sacrifices would most likely be Harry's loved ones. Harry, being a normal Harry, refused to give The Devil the sacrifices and ran away, taking his loved ones with him.

The Devil, enraged by that, unleash hell on earth. He destroyed England with massive demonic forces, and starts burning the world. The story continues as Harry will be faced with choices. Will he choose to sacrifice his loved ones for the sake of the world? Or choose to keep running away, watching the world burns and his loved ones and himself died in vain? Or maybe, he will try to unearth the ancient magic that was used by his mother years ago, because it is the only way to defeat the Devil and put an end to Armageddon?

    ....

    sounds so childish? Sorry.

No, that sounds awesomewtfepic. But it would be better as a long novella - perhaps 60-80k words, not a full length 200k+ word fic.

No, it sounds childish. Lily anticipates him with the Dursleys, wtf? How? It was a pretty unlikely scenario, as was the many dangers Harry faces, there is no way she could have predicted that.

Harry refuses the Devil. And instead of using his demonic powers, to I don't know, take Harry's soul, he 'destroys England and burns the world'. Wow, a little bit of overkill there, especially if he controls luck as he seems to. And I like how Destiny/Fate/The Devil becomes just the devil, because the latter half of the story doesn't make sense with the first two, even though Lily, not being retarded, would certainly rather deal with Destiny or Fate than the fucking Devil.

Also, unleash the ancient magic? What is this, Yugioh? Besides, his mother didn't use 'ancient magic', she made a deal with the devil, is Harry supposed to do that too?

As well, there doesn't seem like there'd be much character development, either Harry is a selfish dick, and keeps his buddies, or is a selfless martyr and sacrifices them. Or, in a twist ending, he finds a way to save everyone, thus negating the moral dilemma and removing any tension from the story. (Oh, I might have ruined the surprise ending there)

Maybe you should think your bunnies through before just spewing them all over the thread.

How about... Lily accidentally drops HP in a vat of Felix Felicis when he's an infant. Which is the real reason why Voldemort's AK fails and so on and so forth.

And now I have an urge to see if there are any HP/Asterix crossovers. :)

Toxic in large quantites, explaining why it isn't used that often. Slughorn only used it twice during his life, very sparingly at that - there could be a good reason for that, with him being a manipulative social climber, and all.

Although it sounds good for a crack!fic, it'd most likely poison baby!Harry.

She was also more gifted with charms than potions (though she did have skill with the latter), whilst James was good at transfiguration - maybe a charm of some kind, instead?

You know, I don't think it was ever said that Lily was gifted with charms. It's only said that her wand was good for charm work. In fact we've seen her do more transfiguration than charms; once when she was underage and that flower-to-fish that Slughorn had.

Hmm, Lily drinks Felix while pregnant? Although a lot of mothers could potentially do it then...

That, and it'd probably poison the fetus? Unless it was a very precise dose, or something?

    Ah, fanon contamination, then?

I guess. It's such a widespread, and probably accurate, concept that it isn't really noticed anymore.

Was that in the books? I thought it was movie only.

I think it happened in the books too but I'm not really in the mood to go check.

Pretty sure nothing was mentioned about her transfiguration in the books. I thought her talent in charms was canon, but I couldn't find any quotes on it beyond her wand. I get the feeling Slughorn or McGonagall mentioned it (or both) but I can't find anything atm.

Canon Lily is a potions genius with a wand good for charms. Everything else is fanon.

It was definitely in the books. I'm positive, it was one of Snape's memories.

Nope. Book = Lily making a flower grow in the palm of her hand while Petunia watches, through accidental magic (although as I type, I'm remembering her having some control over it. It was definitely pre-Hogwarts though). Movie = transfiguring a lily into a goldfish, which lasts until she dies.

The lily into a fish was only in the HBP movie: it doesn't appear in the book. As for the flower growing in her hand, shinysavage is right, that's pre-Hogwarts, although it's made clear that she's controlling her accidental magic to a degree, similar to what Tom Riddle could do. However, she does show Petunia some transfiguration skills while she's underage, at least according to the HPWiki.

And the only reference connecting Lily and charms was Ollivander's comment about her wand.

Mea culpa. I didn't read it carefully. That's what I meant. I don't even know what this fish scene is that you speak of. I thought we had been speaking of the flower scene on the swing set or playground or something.

    Quoted from the book.

Apparently the lily-fish was only from the film.
