Unless, you know, he didn't. For all we know, Dumbledore got his philosophy from fighting Voldemort -- unless it's mentioned that he got it from fighting Grindelwald and I don't remember it at all?

Err, I'm pretty sure that Dumbledore suppressed his ambitions after his sister's death.

Eh, that's right. I think I suppressed the seventh book a little too much...

    -Dark Arts fic
    -Post book 7, ignores epilogue

In the final battle, Harry's soul was damaged. Something to do with the horcrux in his head being destroyed seems plausible enough. A bit after the events of the book, Harry starts hearing a whisper in the back of his head speaking words he doesn't understand in a language that gives him nightmares. Long story made short, mostly because I haven't worked out the details yet (and I don't know if I'll be able to, I'm pretty busy these days and low on inspiration) the damage to his soul made him predisposed towards hearing the call of Cthulu. I've only seen one well done Lovecraft/HP crossover, and I thought this might be interesting.

Might come back and clarify/rewrite some of that later, don't know how well I managed to get my idea across and a sudden headache is preventing my ability to word anything in any manner of sense.

All those who have yet to see Supernatural's latest episodes, don't read the spoiler.

Dean is asked by Death to retrieve 3 of his items taken away from him long ago in exchange of
bringing Sam's soul back from the pit.

I haven't figured anything else out yet. :|

That could work out brilliantly! There should be more decent Supernatural/HP crossovers considering the two worlds.

Would it take place in real time(09/10) or somehow shoehorned into book6/7 or something?

That is what I have been wondering about. The most easy way to do it would be death transporting them back in time to Harry's Sixth/Seventh year. From what we have seen so far it ain't that difficult for angels. Should be pretty easy for Death, the horseman.

Or one could shift HP world forward to match SN's time.

Why? Setting it after Voldemort's death has so much potential. In canon, Harry abandons two out of the three Hallows, but if he finds out someone is hunting for them again, wouldn't that give him enough motivation to reclaim them? And as he is still the Master of Death, and the Death here is a real being of power....

I know I didn't explain that very well, so I'll come back and expand it after some sleep when I'm not surviving on a very strong dose of caffeine.

But wouldn't the whole Muggle vs Magic debate come into effect?

How would they get the invisiblity cloak at Hogwarts from Harry's kid for example if the charms on the school drive them away(It can be argued if they already know the school is there it negates the affect of them possibly...)? Unless Castiel helps them......:D

Still, if Harry tries to get the things back or if they have to deal with witches/wizards(unless Dean can womenize his way out of things like he does half the time) I'm pretty sure shotguns with rocksalt won't help:confused:

Undercover muggle study teachers at Hogwarts is probably too juvenile an idea to use, but its a thought considering all 3 Hallows would be at Hogwarts

    1-Cloak with Harry's kid.
    2- Stone in the forest
3- Elder Wand in DD's tomb.

Hell, why not? They portray FBI agents and even priests at times.

It has been a while since it has been done in SN and since I saw all seasons in one sitting my knowledge is a little hazy as well, but their is some stuff in which you burn a chart and it zeroes down the location of what you are searching for. MY original plan was that they would find the ring in Gaunt Manor. But won't see Hogwarts because it is unplottable. Seeing the type of magic used for protections for the rock Sam would look for references about it in British lore and start getting closer to Hogwarts.

A realistic reason for Death not kicking ass and taking away the items is needed.

    Vague idea...

The Seelie and the Unseelie courts have been at odds for thousands of years; now that Voldemort (the abberation/abomination in their eyes) has once again reared his scaly head, they've come to an agreement: he must be destroyed, lest the magical world suffer a horrendous cataclysm from which it will never be able to ever recover from.

The Seelie courts have always to either aid the wizards/witches against Voldemort, or strike out at him on their own (the infighting was a further factor for their inaction), but they lacked the required resources to maintain a long, drawn out campaign against him and his Death Eaters.

The Unseelie courts frankly didn't give a shit at the start; let the wizards/humans kill one another, they enjoyed seeing the mayhem. However, with his rebirth (and his meddling with Arcane Magics) at the end of the Triwizard Tournament and his deeper descent into insanity, they come to realise that he's become a threat to nature/magic itself, and by extension, them. This situation is unlike the one that the world had with Grindelwald; they expected the same situation with Voldemort.

They want him gone before he could disrupt them.

After researching the matter at hand, collaborating with the Seelie (with dissenters in each camp), and communing with the ancient Gods (Morrighan, the Mothers) themselves, they discover the Prophecy and destiny's pawn, Harry.

It is proposed that together (or independently, hidden from the other - like if Cold War era USA and USSR decided to take on a third party together) Harry is to be trained by them in the lost Celtic/Pictish Druidic magical arts, in order to help him take Voldemort down, and help restore the balance of nature that his emergence had caused.

However, alongside dissenters in each Court, neither can agree to a mutually beneficial treaty.

Eventually, the Tylwyth Teg -a faction of neutral fae who are essentially a third 'Court'- are drafted in, and after mediating the situation come up with a (barely acceptable) situation that would appease most of the elements in each Court (both personally and in tradition): Harry (and by extension, his family line of Potter, Peverell and Black with the eventual death of Sirius) is to be inducted into the Tylwyth Teg 'Court', with him gaining a rank and status. He is also to be politically betrothed to a noblewoman of each Court, in order to maintain the balance, and keep each relevant party's interests intact.

Behind the scenes, it's eventually revealed/hinted at that the Gods that Oh-So-Helpfully aided the Seelie and Unseelie Courts manipulated this into occurring because they want both the Hallows and for Harry to become their 'champion', bringing back the 'Old Ways' - a secondary party is also revealed to be tweaking things behind the scenes as well, aiding both the Light and Dark for its own, mysterious ends.

When he returns to Hogwarts and the persecution of the Ministry, Harry -under the subtle influence of his 'fiances'- becomes more and more disillusioned with the wizarding world, as they prepare him for his role.

Unfortunately, whilst they are expected to do their duty with Harry, many members from all three of the Courts failed to realise that the women themselves might develop different views/an affinity with Harry, of which they slowly do; his Unseelie fiance begins to develop grudging respect and admiration for him, eventually becoming overly possessive and territorial with Harry and barely tolerating any other witch coming into contact with him (Hermione being very, very barely tolerated due to her importance to Harry).

His Seelie fiance begins to act underhanded and manipulative to those around Harry, in order to keep a situation to his (and by extension, their) benefit whilst trying to keep 'everyone' happy; a stark contrast to her once open and freely trusting/caring nature.

His 'neutral' fiance, once impartial to things and knowing her 'duty', becomes near fanatically loyal to him, willing to quite happily break her 'neutral' nature, and ascends (or descends, upon how it is looked at) to the ranks of the Jili Ffrwtan.

These should be highlighted upon to show the tragedy of their character development - development not for the better.

Hermione -and strangely enough Luna, who thinks that he can lead her to the Crumple Horned Snorcack- starts to notice Harry due to his changes, with the former being torn between her longtime affection/pining for Ron (blame that crap on Rowling) and her newly developed view of Harry; this also pisses off Ginevra Molly Weasley, longtime fan-girl. Luna, in the meantime, also keeps an eye on Ron, causing him -in turn- to be confused between Hermione and Luna.

Harry begins to become more and more disillusioned with the wizarding world, and eventually this causes his wizarding friendships/family relations to break down. Dumbledore grows more and more concerned, thinking that Voldemort is influencing Harry subconsciously through their link, as he comes into the first inklings of horcruxes (like in the canon time-frame), but due to the possible leak in intelligence, he can't afford to get 'close' to Harry this year, hence his canon!distance.

As the storyline continues, it's revealed that the second part manipulating/in a background conflict with the Gods is Death itself; it wants Riddle and Harry as well as the Hallows returned to it, but it is willing to leave Harry alive if he kills Voldemort (who is a bigger 'prize'/target in its eyes, despite his long grudge against Harry's ancestor and his resulting bloodline, Ignotus Peverell - it's revealed that whilst the Brothers did create their Hallows, Death instructed them/gave them the knowledge on how to do it. This is emphasized to display how much of an abberation Riddle has become with the soul breaking.

Basically? Throw in the events of fifth year, wizarding/Seelie and Unseelie politics, the Second Wizarding War, a ton of Dark and Arcane magic and a Harry that isn't a fucking canon!sheep, an odd romantic 'pentagram+', a Voldemort that isn't as thick as shit, and you've got this.

(Oh, and Umbridge being skinned alive by a DLP formed curse :awesome).

    Sleep now calls for me...

That has to be the vaguest plot bunny I've ever heard. I mean, really man. We need more info!

Joking aside, the whole thing with Voldemort confuses me a bit. From what I understand it seems that you're saying that the fae have been at war with Voldemort for centuries or more. Is this going where I think it is?

Just imagine, Voldemort not as just an invented name created by Tom Riddle, but as an ancient being moving from human host to human host. You could say that Tom Riddle splitting his soul left a void, an empty space which 'Voldemort' capitalized on, taking control of Toms' body.

This would make a lot more sense than anything else.

And now for a plot bunny of my own.

I remember that J.K. once said that the Giant Squid was actually Godric Gryffindors' animagus form.

Well, what about the other founders? Imagine, Rowena Ravenclaw trapped in the form of an owl by 'curse X' that someone (possibly Slytherin) cast on her. For years she wandered in her form, that of a snowy owl, until one day she was captured and sent to a pet shop in Diagon Alley where a large man with a great big fuzzy beard buys her as a birthday gift for a certain young wizard.

Probably best suited for a crack fic than anything else.

You know what? You're right. Now that I've read it it does sound like the premise for a really bad Indy!Harry fic.:facepalm

Unless... no, no nevermind. It's doomed to failure even if you do make her a dark witch.

...even if Slytherin cursed her into her animagus forum permanently, because he found out she secretly had a penis..the hard way!

But if Griffindor is the Squid, Ravenclaw is Hedwig... what forms would the other two be, if they had any?

I'll inject Logic and say that Fawkes is Slytherin, since he knew where the chamber of secrets was n shit.

Helga can be the room of requirements - cos she likes to help people in any way she can...and the other founders punished her for all eternity for it, because they were all "Dark Wizards".
    Evil!Dark!founders

Slytherin, the cruel and vicious muggle killer.
    enough said!

Griffindor, the pedophile (lol tentacle monster / squid animagus), and puppy killer
Now we know why Dennis Creevy was so excited about falling in the lake, and why Fleur really had to quit the second task!

Ravenclaw, the secret transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania
Because I've never seen a HP/RHPS crossover before.

Hufflepuff, Their weed grower and slave!bitch4life.
    Because...just because.

Especially if she's a dark witch.

If you want a crack fic involving Harry and the founders....

The giant squid is a living horcrux for all of the founders due to some botched experiment involving living wards or some shit. As a result, it has multiple personality disorder.
