Specifically those relating to Red vs. Gold, the aftermath or indeed just decent fics involving either of those characters.

I've read The Sun Soul, Lamora's WIP, and the other WIP about Gold but that's all I've found so far.

faces-sunward has a lot of pokemon oneshots, and most are close to library worthy. I particularly recommend affinity, as it's the closest to what you're looking for. Unfortunately, all he writes are oneshots.

While he refrains from capitalization in his titles and summaries, I don't recall any issues in the fics themselves. I assume it's deliberate.

Made me want to play Pokemon Red/Gold again. Actually, I think I'll start a new run of them. Thanks for that. God bless emulators.

Since I don't really want to create an entire new thread for this, and I don't know whether or not there's an "other" fandoms 'searches that don't deserve their own thread' thread, I'll ask it here.

Are there any good tales out there that chronicle the journey and rise of the (non-PC) Champions? I'm talking Lance, Cynthia, Alder, Steven, and to a lesser extent Iris.

Blue Bongos trilogy was fairly good, but yeah, solid decdnt writing with a nice flow, not stuff like Worling Sinnoh with Skill

Because somehow i completely hate that style.

I never really liked Sun Soul. I thought it was a little over the top.

Bumping so I don't have to make a new thread, but has anyone found any other good Pokemon stories outside the ones that have been listed on DLP (ie Traveler, Sun Soul, and the 2 in WBA)?

 

Just bumping this to see if there've been any new, good pokemon fics lately. Not necessarily Gold or Red-centric, but it helps.

Outside of what's already been mentioned, the best I've seen seems to be Pedestal. It takes place in Sinnoh, and follows a young fairly normal trainer from first person perspective. There's not many details about the main character (we don't learn their gender till halfway through, and their name till the end), and starts off with a very light tone. But shit gets serious as time goes on, and it turn out to be one of my favorite pokemon fics, right after Sun Soul, Traveler, and GoC.

 

Road to Be a Pokemon Master by Writer Under Training has been enjoyable, he's finished the first part and is onto the second book.

 

Ashes of the Past by Saphroneth is a humorous time-travel fix-it fic. Moderately entertaining for what it is.

I posted a thread for it two years ago, and it's in the library.

I won't say that it is the best thing to come from the fandom, but it's written, finished, and consistent.

The author also has a second story, Ree Major's Wonderful Journey, which is set in the same continuity, although doesn't (so far) interact with the first story.

That's also worth a read, and has older characters too.

 

Pedestral is actually relatively good. It starts out as mild crack, but evolves to become a more serious story that handles various mature ideas well enough.
