Despite the numerous complaints I've read regarding the new designs, I've actually grown to like quite a few already, and will probably only hate a couple like with Gen IV once I have the game in-hand. The release of the high quality sprites significantly helps (as opposed to the poor quality of the Pokedex leak a few days ago wherein they were all pretty ugly).

Some weird designs, yes (Roman (?) helmet one is awesome/weird as hell). Some are sort of knock offs of previous Pokemon, yes. But they're not too bad (for me).

I don't get the typing for the 3 legendary dog looking...things. Fighting? They don't look fighting at all.

The grass/fire/water monkey trio is just retarded laziness. They couldn't be bothered making up enough pokemon, so they gave us the same one three times. =(

    And...ice-cream cone pokemon? Wut?

...as the final pokemon in the 'dex. 'the fuck? This piece of shit is to compete with the likes of Mewtwo, Arceus, and Deoxys? T_T

It's a digimon. And a particularly lolwut one at that.

I personally think the alien bug is the most badass of the bunch. Mewtwo looks stupid.

And the icecream cone is going to give me nightmares. Its an icecream that eats YOU.

In Soviet Isshu, ice cream eat you!

Some of these designs may have one too many clown noses, but Chandelar totally makes up for it. Crazy typing, crazy stats, and you can just tell he's a bro. And Narwotter's grown on me, so hopefully others will as well.

If I had seen this sprite sheet a few months ago I would have lol'd in the face of whoever showed it to me. Some of the designs are awesome but seriously... wtf is with some of them.

This. I do like some of them, and some of the type combination are pure win (Dragon/Electric... I've been waiting for this since Gen I), but the designs... well, they show a marked decline in creativity. I mean, they have a Pokemon that's simply two gears, ffs. Still, I'll get this once released in the US, for Zekrom if nothing else.

On the other hand, just about all the bug types outside of that crab are pure win. The Ghost/Fire combo and its evolutions are awesome as well. All in all, Generation 5 have partially exceeded my low expectations. It's not a clear majority that looks like shit and there are a few very well done amongst them all. But overall, the designs are just plain bad.

The designs aren't bad when you're just playing through the game. The bad designs are mostly the rarer Pokemon and legendaries.

    (Still only the second gym.)

The abilities via dream world are epic. Vaporeon with Hydration, Politoed with drizzle, electrode with aftermath, Ninetails with drought, Noctowl with tinted lens.

    FUCKING AWESOME.

EDIT: And Tediursa gets Honey Gather. I just d'awwwwwwwwd.

    Bump ahoy!

Using this thread as a general Pokemon thread again.

I'm after a Bagon egg and Beldum egg for trade into my HG, because I'll be damned it I have to wait 100+ days for my objects in the safari zone to level up sufficiently that I can encounter them.

Gender, moves, predicted IVs are immaterial, though obviously higher IVs are better.

If no one has eggs I'll take the live Pokemon, but I'd prefer eggs as I get my name as the OT, and I get to train them from the start.
