redditors have produced a fairly comprehensive guide. if true though, green pings and offline google maps have been debunked. (see false rumours)

Yeah, this has been a pretty worldwide bug today, and is (almost certainly) server-side. I even uninstalled-reinstalled, still there.

It was frustrating as hell for me because I drove 40 minutes north to go specifically to a park that spawned a shitton of Ponytas. The first hour I was there I couldn't find a single goddamn one because of the broken tracker and bad luck, but at least in the second hour I hit the motherload and caught around 12.

Gonna evolve my 868 Ponyta later tonight, when I do my next mass evo : ).

The bug, btw, causes your tracker to break in two ways- First it sticks all pokemon at 3 paws, no matter how close they are to you (they can be on your screen visible next to you- still three paws). Secondly, it causes the tracker to place them in random order, instead of being in order of those closest to you- you'll see one thats in slot 4 spawned right next to you.

Combined, these bugs make it literally impossible to hunt things down.

Yes. by far. Vaporeon is broken while Jolteon is shit tier.

You can guarantee their evolution with Nicknames too.

    Rainer

    Sparky

    Pyro

Should be obvious which name induces which evolution.

Just heard word on where Dratini could be caught in my town. Have verified, and I forsee lures and insense in my future. I'll have to recycle a lot for candies, but will keep this, my first. I loved dragons in Blue, and love them now.

Also: took over my first gym.

So finally picked up the game, and... as suspected, there's nothing remotely within the area I live in.

Drove around town for a bit, stopping in parking lots to park and play with the game. Caught about seven pokemon and went to four pokestops. Saw a few more, and found several gyms.

Head home. Once I got off the HWY I knew there'd be zero traffic, so I drove 10-15 mph home. About 5 miles. Got one vibrate when I went over a creek, and picked up a Krabby.

Apart from that... nothing. Not even a "there might be one far away" pawprint or w/e in the lower right. So... lol ^^

Still fun though, I'll just have to drive in to town to play.

Edit: Post #5555 damnit - I was saving that shit.

Got a Snorlax and Jinx, apparently Jinx is a rare spawn at kids playgrounds. Make of that what you will.

Not at every playground/park, as far as I can tell large parks tend to have one particular "rare" pokemon that spawns there.

For instance, in South Florida, T Y Park (in Hollywood) has Jynx's, Cypress Park (In Coral Springs) has Ponytas, and Bayfront Park (in downton Miami) has Charmanders. I can confirm all three of those, been there myself and caught massive amounts of each.

I heard there might be Growlithe's at Picollo Park (in Cooper City), so my plan today is to go there.

Currently servers seem down, which is a great sign! Hopefully they are fixing that stupid goddamn tracker bug!

There is a severe lack of electric and fire types. Been playing since day one and 0 electric pokemon encountered and I got a low cp growlithe. All the gyms rock Flying and Water types. i could own with a decent electabuzz

Come visit Phoenix. Growlithes, Ponyta, Charmander everywhere. It's only 110 degrees. Totally worth.

this really depends on your hometown stomping grounds.

while my place has a severe lack of elec as well, nealry every gym has an arcanine so its the occasional water type that are the stompers here to counter them

aside from actual waterfronts, there appears to be a severe drought of water mons.
is niantic trying to say something about california? huh?!

Appart from the commons which are everywhere, the usual spawns in my area and Drowsies, I have had 58 captures... Evee also seems to be rather common, but I think thats the same everywhere. Also Weedle is super common, but Caterpie not so much.

New Mexico is like.. ground and fire types. Bunch of Growlithe, Ponyta, and Sandshrew everywhere.

It's actually pretty damn fun how the place you live leads to a diversity in what you encounter.
