Check the achievements under your character's profile. One of them has the total distance traveled.

Ticket to 91, with a wigglytuff and a cloyster evolution, hope to get to 100 before everything dries up, I have a few tier three evolutions which I am slowly building up, 23 more candies till I get Gangar.

 

Caught an Ivysaur in the morning and hatched a Pikachu on my way home, so I'm pretty happy. But I'm lvl 14 and I haven't joined a team yet so I haven't been battling or training, just dumping spare potions when I'm out of room for pokeballs to catch top percentage Rattata.

How did you guys decide on your teams? Favourite colour, personality match, team philosophy, bandwagon?

 

Look around where you live and join the team that seems to control the most gyms.

 

Valor is literally the Friendship team. Also cause Trainer Red.

And my sisters went blue so I had to pick a team to mess with them and their gym acquisitions.

 

I went with Mystic, because Articuno is the best.

 

You really just want to pick a team the majority of your friends are playing on. It really is a lot more fun to tackle gyms with a group.

 

Mystic is the best, unless you're a scrub.

 

Hugplx is wrong. Mystic is trash, Valor for life.

But seriously, either go with what your friends are (if you play with other people), or what color will allow you to control more gyms for your defender bonus.

 

I chose Instinct because no one else was choosing it and I felt sorry for it. <_<

 

It's funny, but all of my friend group chose Instinct- but I feel like we're the only people in the state rocking Yellow.

 

Wooo! Hatched a Lapras finally. First good 10 km egg I've had in a LONG time (usually get Pinsers and Jynxs. Like 2-3 of each from eggs), and it was decently IV'd (84-88% of perfect, but couldnt narrow it down between the two, even as I powered it up). Didn't have enough candies to get it all the way though, sadly, so its stuck around 3-4 ticks short of max level. 1894 CP and 174 HP though : )

 

Yes, it's better. Holding gyms = get more coins. More coins = can buy premium items more frequently.

If you choose instinct, be prepared to cruise on 10 coins a day while joining up with your local Valor/Mystic players can have you holding 3-4 gyms when you cash out for 30-40 coins.

 

To be fair, that would also mean he'd need to find gyms with empty slots or spend time training one up.

Whereas if he is the other team, he can go around at non-prime times (for example, until around 11 am around me), grab 5-8 gyms, and then defender bonus. No one keeps gyms very long around me, but its always faster to take down a level 4 enemy gym then it is to train up one of my gyms to level 3.

 

If he's on Mystic or Valor, he'll still have roughly half the player base to assault.
