Go catch a male Eevee and evolve it to Sylveon if you're planning to go Female Salandit hunting. Put it in the lead and your 1/8 chance of encountering a female goes up to 2/3.

What was your team may I ask? I've only got to like battle 30 with my team of Minior, Toxapex, Alakazam, but that is not a super tryhard team for singles...

I just managed this today as well. It took me a really long time too since I'm so unused to competitive play. Used this team:

    Garchomp @ Life Orb
    Jolly (252 Att/Speed)
    - Earthquake
    - Dragon Claw
    - Fire Fang
    - Swords Dance

    Tapu Fini @ Normalium-Z
    Bold (252 HP, Def)
    - Calm Mind
    - Surf
    - Moonblast
    - Refresh

    Scizor @ Scizorite
    Adamant (252 HP, Att)
    - Bullet Punch
    - Roost
    - X-Scissor
    - Swords Dance

Now I'm thinking of either going for a complete Alolan-dex or trying to get to 50 in Super Doubles.

Does anyone have a Sassy Celesteela they're willing to trade? I can trade a Jolly Kartana or an Adamant Buzzwole.

    Just finished the main story.

I forgot how much I hated Stealth Rock, and I had triple Rock weakness on my team. Thank fuck the game drops Max Revives on you like it's 1998 and you're Rare Candy glitching off of Cinnabar.

Just going to say that I've completed the Pokédex, so don't need anything. Living shiny Alola dex is in progress =).

So if anyone needs a mod for their dex (and I haven't already traded it away), feel free to send me a pm.

This isn't a strictly Sun/Moon question but since this the most recent Pokémon game I figure this (or irc) is the best place. If I wanted to obtain a low leveled, shiny Nidoran (M) is the Masuda method the best way currently? Or is there another way? I'm looking to get a legitimate Pokémon too (so I don't want to hack the game or do anything like that).

That being said also looking to trade for a ditto from a non NA region.

SOS chaining with an adrenaline orb gives you the same chance as the Masuda method, and will maybe be quicker than hatching the eggs. But you'll need the ethers and so on to restock moves, and you'll want a good chaining monster (article here gives some steps, and the chances).

But a cock-up can kill your chain, and you can't pass on nature, ability, or IVs. You can switch ability this gen, and you can hyper train for max IVs (at level 100), so if it's for PvE then that shouldn't matter.

However, I've not looked massively into it this time around.

Masuda is the fastest: chaining has the same rates, but you need a good setup team. Get a shiny charm if you're planning on doing a lot of shiny hunting.

There's a technique you can use in breeding for shinies in Sun and Moon called Swap Breeding, where you hatch magikarp (the fastest-hatching pokemon) instead of the pokemon you're actually looking for, and reset when you get a shiny magikarp, switching to the pokemon you're breeding instead.

A good breeding tip is go inside the fenced-in area below the daycare and run around on tauros to hatch without any fuss.
