DLP Pokemon Tournaments are back!

To kick it off we are doing Random Brackets for now, using this website.

Hit me up with a PM or comment on this thread using your Username from Pokemon showdown.

This is just some preliminary attempts, so get em in fast, and we can probably do a couple matches tonight.

 

To clarify it'll be Gen 8 meta with completely random teams of parity for each battle. Just to get us into the swing of things.

So the first day was really fun, we got ChaosGuy, Seratin, ML, Clerith, Vira, Striker, and Airlyfe all playing at some point or another.

It was mostly informal to get people use to the system and play around with the pokemon.

For the next one I'm thinking we start in three days this one will be a bit more formal, the rules will be as follows three OUs in one team, and no legendaries, and nothing post gen five, including items.

You can sign up here in advance, or just be there on Thursday around noon EST and shoot me a message, but bracket closes at 12:30 EST.

In the mean time, I'm going to be in discord just about every day, so if you have any questions or just do some practice before feel free to hit me up.

Does Heatran count as a legendary?

It gets genders, it shouldn't count!!

 

I'm cool with the first tournament capping out at the gen 5 meta but I think going forward we should use current meta as the base standard and have every second tournament with themed restrictions like this.

After all, back when we ran Gen 4 meta here I distinctly remember a lot of people complaining, "No fuck this new gen 5 meta, it's broken."

Disregarding almost half the entire current game makes me uncomfortable.

 

Uh, so are the matches going to be at noon EST on Thursday? Because some of us are still working and I'll never be able to make that.

 

What we did in the past was have every match 24 hours to be played.

 

Heatran is a legendary, and basically what seratin said, anytime within 24 hours. I'll try to get brackets up but as of right now I've got no names.

Are we playing Gen 5 mechanics, or Gen 8 mechanics? Not meaning items or moves, I'm meaning things like Defog vs Stealth Rock.
