Rebranding for a new generation + using old content for inspiration to keep the fanbase involved, I should think. At least, that'd be part of it.

I heard on the grapevine that the whole Light/Happiness type thing was confirmed. Is there anything to back this up, or am I just hearing echos of old rumors bouncing back off of distant walls?

Just rumors, nothing is confirmed on that front.

Couple of new things making the rounds. Pics and info are on Serebii and in the Pokemon Pics Thread here, even. But here's the basics: Karos region, based on France. Customisable trainers, but like only three different choices of hair/skin, basically. You can now ride Pokemon through the streets and fields like a true champion. Also, a fighting panda, an electric gecko, a fuckin' tree goat and what looks like the bird from one of those bird dipping into water devices are four new Pokemon. Fucking awesome.

The riding pokemon seems to just be that one since its pokedx description is 'riding pokemon'

As for the four new pokemon revealed:
    • “Panda” Pokémon‘s name is Yanchamu, it’s is the “Mischievous Pokémon” and is a Fighting-type
    • “Bird” Pokémon‘s name is Yayakoma, it is the “Robin Pokémon” and is a Normal/Flying-type
    • Yellow/Black Pokémon‘s name is Eriki(blurred)ru, it is the “Generator Pokémon” and is an Electric/(Normal?)-type
    • “Goat” Pokémon‘s name is Gōgōto, it is the “Ride Pokémon” and is a Grass-type
    • New Pokédex is shown in the top right corner, it is the red expanding device

Well I'll be damned. They look like they belong to Gen IV. And by that I mean they don't look like shit.

Not amazing. But it's not talking ice cream cones and sentient piles of scribble-garbage, either.

I think that gogoto looks like he might have seasonal forms.

Also here is a second page
    [IMG]

There's a picture of a region, a look at what I think is character customization, a picture of the goat being ridden, and some kind of bracelet on both characters' wrists.

Also, "shell chestnut" sounds like shellsmash on a grass starter would be insane.

    >finally get player customization
    >it's not buying and wearing accessories and clothes for your character in-game, just three stock choices for skin color and effectively identical haircuts

    Really?

I'd rather they focus on a plot where our choices actually matter instead of a market system that I'll probably never use anyway.

I don't play Pokemon because I want my choices to matter and drive a plot.

I play Pokemon because it's collecting and training monsters. I've honestly never given a damn about "joining Team [Whatever]" or changing the plot in any significant way.

If I want my choices to matter, I'll go play Mass Effe-

-some game where that actually happens.

It would be nice if you could customize your trainer more, I mean, I love doing monotype runs, would be nice if I could look like Koga or somethin'.

Sure, but I would play Pokemon for the plot if I could choose to be in criminal organizations or a gym leader or whatever, on top of the reasons I already have for playing it now. If I wanted a market system for character accessories I'd play Club Penguin.

Honestly can't understand the vitriol for gen V. Not when things like dugtrio, magneton, and ditto exist. There have always been stupid pokemon.

But yea fuck Vanilluxe. I'm ambivalent to Garbodor. I don't want him on my team but I think he's a better design than muk or grimer.

I caught a Trubbish in my Nuzlocke White 2 run, and let me tell you, that fucking thing turned out to be my most reliable Pokemon by the time it evolved. Call it some kind of Stockholm Syndrome if you want, but FUCKING GARBADOR FOR THE WIN. Love that bastard.

I am never going to walk normally in that game if I can avoid it; I will be riding pokemon everywhere.

Pretty much this. Gen V had some wacky designs. Garbordor though was pretty similar to Muk - a pile of sludge, a pile of rubbish. You cannot say that one idea if better than the other even if the design of Garbordor wasn't the best.

I enjoyed Gen V. About as much as Gen III, which is my least favourite. It was still a fun enough game to play through. So far I am liking the look of Gen VI much more. Cannot wait for more info.

Or Butterfree, or Clefable, Oddish, Seel, Lickitung, Mr. Mime, and Jynx. Generation I was rife with stupid ass pokemon.

Fuck, Gen II has Ledian, the dumb pre evolutions to Clefairy and Jigglypuff, the Slugma line, and Corsola.

Spheal was so much better as a seal pokemon. I don't know why it eventually becomes a walrus, but hey, pokelogic.

God I just hope they don't add more useless prevos.

Things like magby, elekid, and riolu are fine. Pokemon like Lucario, Magmar, and Electabuzz are just stronger than average so access to them is restricted to higher level areas. Their prevos let you pick up versions of them very early in the game (before 1st/2nd gym in BW2) and get them friendly/a part of your team much much earlier.

But pichu, clefable, igglybuff? Shit's fucking annoying. They are already weak pokemon, why do we need baby versions? (And don't bring up volt tackle)

I want to see more interesting evolutions in Gen VI. I hate that they took away the beauty level up of Milotic in Gen V. You can still evolve a traded feebas if its beauty stat is maxed, but you don't have a way of maxing it in Gen V. I hate trade evolutions.
