I really hope they let me choose both Fire types for my starters.

Are Kanto Starters only available at the end, or are they going to be halfway through instead of an Eevee? do we get all, or have to choose just one? Any guesses?

What the actual fuck have they done to Blastoise and Charizard. I don't want to start this fight again, but I cannot possibly be the only one who thinks that's horrible looking. Venusaur is the only one who is acceptable, and that's because they basically just made the plant bigger and gave him some facial markings. The fuck is with Charizard's arms? Why does Blastoise look like a Robot Master from Megaman X?

 

You definitely have it backwards. Venusaur is the worst of it.

 

I think Charizard looks rad as fuck. Venusaur really isn't all that different, and Blastoise is kinda weird but I dig it.

 

Blastoise's cannon on his back is a bit oversized. I don't like the arms for Charizard. Venasaur is fine. Overall? They're fine. Better than the hairier theme of the original mega-evolution release.

Still on the fence for mega-evolutions overall. Gonna' wait until I experience them for myself in-game before I commit. As long as they make sense and don't make Pokemon OP, all is well in my book.

I assume the Elite Four/Champion will use them. Wouldn't make sense to have such emphasis on them if they didn't.

The bracelet the player wears is what triggers the megalution in tandem with the hold-megastones.

AFAIK, these megalutions can be triggered at any time during the battle. So you can chlorophyll venasaur and switch to thick fat when they bring out a counter. Charizard's typing stays as fire/flying so fucking rocks but who knows he may be viable. Drought pushed Ninetails from NU to OU, maybe it can do something for a 50% hp flying lizard.

...if he has a venasaur to carry him.

Blastoise gets a bit shafted imo, because his "pulse" moves are a bit lackluster, but we'll see. I just hope moves like hydro cannon and hydro pump also get boosted by his giant fucking cannons. One of the screenshots shows him not using his cannon for his moves in the in-game animations still.

Digimon is way better, but as they're not localising Digimon World 3DS, I'm gonna have to get Pokemon 3DS instead.

No, I'm of the same opinion. Change can sometimes be good in small amounts, but this is just too much in my opinion. I'll probably buy it, just to check it out, but my expectations could not be lower.

 

Fuck yeah 3DS ordered and shipped and I couldn't be more pumped up.

 

I don't think we know enough about MegaEvolutions to be saying that they'll destroy the entire franchise.

Maybe wait until you try the game before you can call all of Pokemon dead.

 

Yeah, it isn't as if you have to use them or anything. They aren't even something you'll have to constantly avoid like you would a normal level up evolution. All you have to do is... not give your pokemon the megastone.

I guess you'll still have to deal with some AI megamons towards the endgame, but if all it takes is a few fruity designs to turn you off from pokemon then I'm not sure how you stuck it out through Gen 5 in the first place. I just don't see it being that big a deal for people who don't like it, while it seems like a really cool new mechanic for people who do.

 

It depends on how much stronger they make the Pokemon in question. They aren't giving Megaevolutions to the Pokemon that actually need them. They're giving them to the really popular Pokemon that everyone likes. Depending on how much more powerful a Megaevolution can make a Pokemon, this could completely unbalance the metagame and turn it into the sort of every-build-is-the-same circlejerk typically associated with endgame MMOs.

We need more information before we say it completely destroys the game. Right now it just looks terrible, except for Venusaur, Mawile, and Kangaskhan.

 

But Venusaur didn't need anything to be more badass. It's already really good.

 

Not really seeing how anything they do could unbalance the meta game, considering the tiered system the meta runs by. Anything "OP" doesn't shift you into a cookie cutter situation, it shifts that OP into the next tier up. Pokemon that are too powerful get shifted into Ubers and Ubers doesn't need to be balanced because it's for faggots anyway.

 

I agree, but apparently restraining yourself from fixing something that isn't broken is some kind of sacrilege now.

I do like how they fucked up the original starters, who didn't need an art change and were all metagame competitive to varying degrees, but there's no MegaFeraligatr, MegaTyphlosion, or MegaMeganium. They could use the buffs, and god knows the last generation of starters could use the additional art step. Maybe then Snivy and Tepig could look to the future with the knowledge that it's not all downhill from here.

 

Seriously, wtf? They ban certain sets, why the hell wouldn't they ban megastone sets? Have y'all not had enough complaining yet? Seriously, just enjoy the new fucking features.

And they haven't released all megaforms yet, so stop jumping to mofoing conclusions.
