I liked it, it's a four episode summary of the first game basically. I really want the soundtrack they used for it though.

 

Is everyone talking about Origins? just making sure because people are giving totally different info on what's out and such.

 

Send me a PM and I have a link to 4 episodes subbed. I haven't watched them yet but I can see that it's 90 minutes of the pokemon origins anime and the first few minutes I've watched seems like accurate subbing.

 

Oak is translated as Orchid. This was at 00:58.

 

They're using the Japanese names. Like Takeshi and Lizardon or Hitokage

 

Y'know Hos I saw that and thought for some reason "Oh his Japanese name is Orchid" but it's actually Okido.

Still it's a translation.

 

After 10 fucking years, how could someone, who translates pokemon not know what the dudes name is in english?

Red lost the first rival battle. I did better than that when I was six. Yeah no.

 

It's slightly more adult than the series, but it's definitely still made as a kid's show. Was worth watching for some of the fights and the nostalgia.

There's apparently not much post-game material, not like gen five. I think the only Pokemon we're waiting on now is the little legendary that each gen has, but you probably can't find it in-game.

That new Pokemon anime was alright, especially in comparison to the fail that is the long-running kiddies' anime.

Giovanni was pretty cool, and Red turned into a passable badass in the end. The Mewtwo vs. Charizard finale is great. I definitely can't wait for my own Mega Charizard X. My all-time-favourite starter, now a Fire/Dragon type, and supposedly powerful enough to beat Mewtwo. Yes please.

 

Well, just finished that Origin anime. On the plus side, it was closer to the games, the animation was good (particularly the fight scenes), and they got rid of the whole "Pokemon say their own names" thing that was always stupid. They also added some more depth and development that wasn't unwelcome at all.

On the other hand, they skipped over so damn much (over half the Gym Leaders and events) that I wonder why they even bothered. I'd have loved it if they could've expanded to adapt the entire game. The "Mega Evolution" thing at the end just felt like a commercial for these new games coming out (which I'm still not all that interested in -- still prefer Red/Blue and Gold/Silver over anything else). I'm not a fan of Mewtwo just being another feral, wild Pokemon either. And finally, Red's team was all over the place. I'd have preferred some consistency there.

All in all, it had potential to be a decent adaptation, but wasn't what I'd have liked to see.
