It might be another gender-based evolution of some kind, playing up X and Y and all that. If it is gender dependent there would be a branching path in addition to all the other eeveelutions. Ninfia (or Ninfeon, inevitably) might indicate Fighting, but it looks like a Normal type. Maybe the typing is based on gender too? Nintendo might as well go all in with the unique mechanics this gen what with all the other changes they're making.

I thought it looked retarded at first, but it's growing on me. Umbreon is still my bro, though.

I'm still pissed they didn't think to call it Chloreon.

Really? I'd have gone with Floreon. Although that is only one letter from Flareon.

This one looks... okay, I guess, but Espeon will always be my choice.

The only light type that could be good is Light Yagami type, but I doubt it would happen :awesome

I can live with the bows. But the eyes, man. The eyes are enormous compared to every other Eeveelution.

I get why people want it, and opinions are fun and everything, but adding in Light would just be dumb. I'm sorry, but it would be. There are already too many types that aren't getting the kind of support or attention that they need (looking at you, Poison). We aren't going to fix the house burning down by revving up the V-Twin flamethrowers.

    [EDIT]

That, and I can already tell that every "Light" type would be moeblob kawaiishit animeu faggotry of the highest order, when it's not being OP as a motherfucker.

Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

The new Eevolution has been given the English name of Sylveon, which is pretty catchy. Also there's a little thirty second video of some battling in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pse_I1klRhA&feature=player_embedded. I can't help but grinning stupidly when seeing a Pokemon that gets hit actually react and get pushed backwards by the blow. It's neat-o.

That last attack looks an awful lot like swift.

I recognised Swift as one of the moves it used, but it doesn't look like a Flying type. I'm betting on a normal type for now.

Yeah I'm still betting on it being a normal type. It doesn't really fit with anything else unless you want to go and make up a type that doesn't exist.

Sorry for the doublepost but I'm pretty sure I just figured out Sylveon's typing.

Sylve is forest in french. I think. Someone can confirm that it'd be great. And those bows look a lot like butterflies. I'm starting to think Sylveon is a bug type eeveelution. It'd also explain the larger than normal eyes.

Thought that was obvious considering the butterflies?

That everyone figured were bows. As well as that Leafeon's eyes are suited to its typing as well as Umbreon's. The big ass eyes everyone were bitching about now fit.

Might have been obvious to you but it wasn't brought up in the thread.

Bound to happen at some point. I'd like to see a Steel Eeveelution.

There's also the possibility that Sylveon's etymology comes from the Sylphs, who are spirits of air.

There's also the fact that in the type chart released, this is notable:

At this point in time, though, I like a lot of the theories presented (flying and bug the most), and Nintendo played this masterfully in getting a huge buzz going about X/Y.

If it's a bug type that would probably make the third move it used Signal Beam. If it's flying type (as Swift suggests) it could be Aeroblast. Or it could be a new move either way.

EDIT: Also, there's a second pattern to that image that has nothing to do with type effectiveness. Each layer is sorted by generation. Top is the original three Eeveelutions, middle is Gold/Silver with Umbreon and Espeon, with the next ones being Glaceon and Leafeon from the 4th Generation. Then at the bottom we have Slyveon, the newest.

So it could just be coincidence. My bets are pretty swiftly changing to Flying type though.

I'd be happy with a flying type eeveelution but I'd be a little bit pissed if it didn't have wings of some sort at least.

Eeveelutions have always been my favorite.
I'd really love a ghost type eeveelution.

It's really not likely, but I wish this one was normal so that it could also be introduced with a ghost type counterpart.
