Warlocke, all I got from your post is the idea of Hermione as a fembot.

How does Dumb Luck and throwing Killings Curses around sound? Ignoring possible collateral damage.

I never understood how Molly of all people could wipe the floor with Bellatrix. Bad plot or character development on JKR's part to say the least.

A housewife trounces Voldemort's greatest servant? Yeah, right.

Honestly, the best candidate to kill Bellatrix would have been Harry. Or Aberforth Dumbledore, or any number of characters that would not be Molly, of all people.

One way it could have worked would have been if it was because Molly was doing something really, really stupid. Like, using some form of magic that had a very high likelihood of killing her, or knocking her out. For instance, she might have used a particular spell which breaks through basic shields while almost completely exhausting your magic in the process. Bellatrix wouldn't have wasted magic preparing her shield to stop that because she knew in such a chaotic battle, anything that'll knock you out is tantamount to suicide, so when it came at her she didn't have time to do more than go 'whoopsy...'

Of course, for this to have worked it would have helped for Molly to collapse immediately afterwards. Do we actually know what happened to her after her victory?

Probably had to go and have a nice cup of tea to recover from her exhausted magical core...

Was he killed by Harry's Expelliarmus, the rebounding AK or by Harry having the allegiance of the Elder Wand?
Did he even intend to do that?
It was not intentional. How would he know of the anti-traitor function of Peter's magic hand? He even tried to restaring his hand, together with Ron.

The Ministry wanted to let the aurors use Augusta Longbottom against the Death Eaters, but decided to let them use the Killing Curse instead, cause it was more humane.

I may be repeating myself, but if Molly was such a bad-ass she should've been out fighting way earlier, not cooking bloody food.

As Sesc said, you can't build up a bunch of villains in a series and then have them completely fail against children and house-wives without it being kinda meh.

For a mother truly kicking ass, look at Charity Carpenter in Dresden Files. Aww yeah. :p

It's weird - we never actually saw Harry dealing with Quirrel's death. It kinda went completely ignored for the rest of the series. Like he was totally fine with it.

If killing Quirrel was psychologically a non-issue for an 11-year-old Harry, killing death eaters and Pettigrew should have been a psychological walk in the park for him by OOtP.

Ah well. We have awesome fanfiction for the shortcomings of canon in these areas.

I agree with this completely. Charity Carpenter was awesome. Charity Carpenter vs Bellatrix Lestrange would be even more awesome. They are virtually complete opposites.

Molly could barely handle her own children.

She killed him with a knife throw. Have you ever tried throwing knives? It is horribly difficult to get a knife to go in point first even when you 'know' the distance to your target. To get a throw like that is pretty damn badass.

Do you happen to know of any fanfics that specifically deal with the aftermath of Quirrel's death and its possible effects on Harry? It seems like an interesting jumping off point, but I don't think I've read any.

I think there were three factors that led to Molly's victory.

*Bellatrix was cocky, underestimated Molly the housewife.

*Molly's greatest fear was her family member dying. Fred had just died and Bellatrix was threatening. to kill Ginny. Righteous anger enhanced her own skill and ruthlessness greatly.

*Harry's sacrifice protecting all those fighting against Voldemort. Even if it didn't fully protect all of them, they sure mustve reduced the effect of offensive spells.

And ofc, Molly was a badass in general. No offence to Bella
I always saw this as Harry never actually coming to terms with Quirrel's death. Quirrel didn't exactly die normally, did he? And I will not be surprised if Harry never even thought much about Quirrel after that incident, or just thought of him as Voldemort who was most likely still alive.
