I am looking for a certain fic I read a while back, but have not been able to find. My google-fu is rather weak it seems.

I apologize if this does not belong in this forum, but none of the others even seemed close.

A few plot points that I remember:
-After defeating Voldemort, Harry says he wants nothing to do with the wizarding world anymore and chooses to live out his life as a muggle.
-The Wizarding gene pool is getting too shallow, and they have resorted to kidnapping muggleborns (This "program" was designed/endorsed by Hermione)
-Harry was paired with an OFC/Muggle and has at least 2 Children. I don't remember any story involvement of his family beyond his daughter who is kidnapped. I believe the story had the rest of his family being obliviated of his daughter's existence.
-There was a line in the story along the lines of "If they had noticed the photograph on the nightstand, they would have run from the house and not looked back"
-His daughter was uncooperative and always saying something along the lines of "My daddy's going to come for me"

I have a few other points, but I don't want to give too much away in case there are others that have not read it.

I seem to remember the story title included the word reveal or a synonym.

If you had looked better, you would have found the Story Search forum.

I can't say that I know the story you search, though.

    Figures.....

In my defense, I am currently in a 3rd world country suffering with internet that is only slightly worse than 14.4K dialup. When a single page load takes over a minute, it can be painful just browsing for the right place to post.

I believe what you're looking for is this:

    Exposure, a Dark Fic

Circumstances aren't an excuse, by the way. You learn and make mistakes. Build a bridge.

    Thanks, that is it.

Kind of sad, I looked for Reveal, revealed, uncover, uncovered, unmask, unmasked, expose, and exposed. Never thought to look for exposure.

    I am officially an idiot.

I feel for you; that's pretty much what my connection was like up until around February when (the slowest version of) DSL finally became available on my street.

Searching forums with a slow connection is an unmitigated pain in the ass. Even with images turned off it can take an excruciatingly long time for pages to load.

Meh, I searched for a zillion variations on kidnap, my daddy, my daughter, Harry's daughter, and so on, in my fic folder, but I still got beaten to the punch (and I have that story).

Unfortunately HP fic is a kidnap-heavy (and daughter-heavy) fandom and my fic folder is just shy of 7gigs.

    That's 163,235 files in 8,929 folders. :O_O:

A real internet tough guy, right?

While your finding the fic is appreciated, the attitude isn't. Stop being a try-hard and just be thankful your connection is better... even if you are browsing the abridged version of the internet.

What a great fic this was. The little girls guardian is stronger than every wizard in Hogwarts combined. Genius.

It doesn't help that I am somewhat spoiled at home with 16 Meg broadband.

I'm still kicking myself in the butt because I was right that a synonym of reveal was in the title, and I tried just about every variation I could think of EXCEPT the one in the title.

Have you read all of the fics you have in your folder or have you just collected all of them? I go through a LOT of them because I travel for business, and do a fair bit of reading on the plane. The only bad thing is I'm going to have to find another fandom soon, as the HP fandom really seems to be dying. I haven't seen too many good new fics come out in quite a while.

Hehe. Unless it's a blatantly asinine mistake, the person's post pissed me off, or I can make a joke out of the correction, I try not to go around pointing out every error people make.

That would fall under the category of 'dick move', I think. Plus, I make plenty of mistakes myself... so I'd be setting myself up for a righteous comeuppance.

And I'd no doubt find myself frequently falling prey to Muphry's Law.

I have quite a few fics I downloaded with DeFFNetIzer, then dumped into an 'Unread' folder to get back to later. Some have been there long enough the fics are probably finished... more than a few no longer exist on FFN.

Many are 'in progress', so I've read what I have and am awaiting updates (which, in all too many cases, will never come).

You read fanfic for a few years and you amass a bit of a collection. It makes me wonder how many I'd have if I'd started out saving what I read; in the beginning I'd just open every chapter in a different instance of IE (pre tabbed browsing, AKA The Dark Ages), read it, then close the window and never look back.

Oh, and I think you need to work on your quoting skills a bit there.
