Wow, a lot of people got their emails today.

I'm in Ravenclaw and my username is GoldProphecy48. My wand is Ash with Unicorn Core, 14 1/2 inches, Unyielding.

The sorting questions were kinda pointless for me, but I love the wand lore.

    EDIT: Well that was embarrassing.

It sort of looks like more girls got their emails today. Perhaps that indicates that there's a greater number of females that signed up for the beta?

Lawl, Irene. Was I wrong about the females thing? ;)

Your Pottermore account is ready! Step this way... RainGhost169

Yay! I'll edit later with details, as I'm off to lunch at the moment and haven't got time to do much other than post lest I be late.

As for the comment about lots of girls getting in today -- I can't remember what I registered as. I tend to be about 50/50 what I say on the internet but I'm about 80% sure I listed myself correctly as female for Pottermore. It's also a UK e-mail address (that I got while living over there) if that matters.

    Edit:

Due to overwhelming demand, you cannot access Pottermore right now.
    ~
Due to high levels of demand, we are currently restricting access to Pottermore. Please come back and try again later.

We are sorry Pottermore is currently unavailable.
Please come back later and try again.

I just keep getting lots and lots of different kinds of "issues" with logging in it seems. Also, LOL @ Portus :awesome :facepalm

I registered quite late, said female, picked UK as address and used a UK domain name.

My third account was activated yesterday. For that one I'd registered as an American male.

So what I'm getting out of this is that I have you all to blame for the site continually freezing and not working?

    Grats on getting in though

     I guess

Alright. I read back a page in the thread and saw that once I put the Shopping List in my Trunk the arrow should be available to move into the Gringotts Chapter -- but it's not. Plus when I go somewhere else on the site and come back to the Diagon Alley page, the Shopping List re-appears on the ground as if I didn't collect it (but every time I collect it confirms it and puts it in my trunk). Ideas?

Edit: Now it's started giving me a Page Error every time I collect it -- maybe it has to do with the lag today.

It's glitched and probably needs to be fixed by their admins, but it would be interesting to see whether you can gift the shopping list to someone else.

So have other people had the same problem? I was debating trying a different browser or something along those lines, but I haven't gotten around to installing one.

Edit: They need to get to work on this "High Levels of Demand" thing... when it opens Officially it's only going to be loads worse.

Edit2: You know what would be awesome (not really)? If none of the questions for your house/wand/whatever meant anything. You can answer them any way you like but the House/Wand you get is just completely randomized at the end. It would keep the 4 houses about equal -- but that said, people would find out eventually, and it's doubtful at any rate given the high tendency of DLP to be in Slytherin I think.

Edit3: Tried with Internet Explorer (figuring that was probably one of the ones they're trying to optimize for anyway) and still no luck. Same thing happens -- I can pick it up, it says it goes in the trunk, but it doesn't.

Edit4: Someone else I know just got in and had no issues with the Shopping List -- WTF >.>

Edit5: Selfsame friend says that "if you want in to gryffindor then remember. forest trail, persistence, fear of loneliness, annnnd ...ummm the other 4 questions :p"

I have the same issue with the shopping list. I don't know what to do about it either. On the bright side my second account just got activated. But on the not so bright side the site hasn't let me in because of high demand for a long time now...

I think some pages back, browser compatibility (Chrome?) was an issue. It works in Firefox. The entire site does not work in Opera. So maybe trying out a different browser might be a solution.

Edit: Did you try Firefox, Cheddar?

Yeah -- Firefox is my standard browser. I updated it as well so I tried two different versions of Firefox. Also tried IE and Chrome.

Edit: After a few hours of work and some supper, I tried again and got impatient. I went and collected the Alarm Clock, as a test to see if anything would show up in my trunk, and then both items appeared in the trunk together. So now I have the Shopping List (fucking finally), but I *still* can't progress to Gringotts. The only difference is that now the Shopping List isn't sitting on the ground in Diagon for me to pick up.

Because it somehow still applies. This isn't some kid that created a surprise smash hit free-to-play in his basement, this is a new, official Harry Potter website, and they control how many people have been granted access.

    Pottermore: Aesthetically beautiful. Ergonomically retarded.

Speaking of which, CheddarTrek, you're going to formatting hell for that entire post.

Okay, finally got my wand: English oak, Dragon core, thirteen inches, and surprisingly swishy. Loved the wand lore, but it won't let me end chapter five. I'm pretty sure I've done everything...

I use chrome exclusively and didn't have a problem with any steps in any of the chapters. It's really not that hard to figure out.

So far I haven't had trouble figuring anything out -- it's more that it doesn't work properly for some people even when you do it correctly.

It *is* the Beta though. If it still doesn't work for the Official release I'll be more irritated. I think mine got confused somehow -- I was having trouble picking up the List before (it would go into my trunk then disappear), but when it finally appeared in my trunk it wasn't when I picked it up but rather when I picked up the Alarm clock both items appeared. So I think it's glitched/bugged for me proceeding to the next step. I am hoping it will get fixed.

Grinning Lizard made my point better than I did -- this isn't some kid in a basement with a website that surprised him by being popular. This is a major launch of a website where the number of people being allowed access is monitored/controlled. And they are still having serious issues. For something of this supposed quality/budget I expect them to have it better in hand this near the end of the Beta period.

And glad you liked my formatting ;).

Cheddar, if I was you, I'd drop that account and get a new one from the social group. Unless your specific bug is being experienced by a large number of people, and I doubt it is, then I wouldn't count on it being fixed soon.

The initial bug which allowed you to pick up the glitched shopping list has been repaired. The resulting error which your account is experiencing is a one-time problem which is probably low on the totem pole for the devs. New accounts won't be affected by the bug, so it's an acceptable result for a bug fix during Beta.

I'd agree with that Yak -- if the problem I had originally was fixed, but I'm screwed because of the time-frame in which I did it, then yeah. That's acceptable for the Beta. Perhaps I can go back to this account (I love the name I got) later once they are polishing things like this up in a month or two.

    I'm also SilverBronze136 now -- Hufflepuff.

Wand is -- Alder with Dragon Core, Twelve Inches, Slightly Springy -- which is pretty cool all around.
