Werewolves are only especailly dangerous a few nights a month, and then only in a non specific way, with out wolvesbane they are indiscriminately dangerous and impossible to control really.

Out of all the creatures, werewolves are the least useful allies.

They're not necessarily valued just for their ability to turn into werewolves though. They're valued for their general use as manpower regardless of what form they're in. Consider, for example, Fenrir Greyback and the snatchers.

Also seems like Werewolves would be more useful as a way to demoralise your enemy, rather than frontline soldiers. No one wants to risk becoming a werewolf, which makes fighting with them even scarier - like what happened to Bill. Their indiscriminate nature probably helps in this case, no one wants to have a werewolf dropped off outside their front lawn to hunt on a full moon.

Fenrir Greyback seems to be a good example of this - he isn't an especially useful fighter compared to the top Death Eater's, but he had a fearsome reputation and people are scared of him.

And since most werewolves are wizards per pottermore, this still means having wand magic on your side.

I hope when she gets to the seventh book, she goes into some depth about what was going on at Hogwarts in the mean time. Just anything would be good!

Personally, I really hope she writes about Grindelwald. It's perfectly possible I will be disapointed with what she says about him and it goes against everything my Head-Canon did with him, but still.

I'm pretty sure JKR will go for a Grindelwald who is somewhat more complex that "magical Hitler" so in that respect I'm quite looking forward to anything she has to say on the matter.

So, JKR starting Dec. 12 is going to release one short story per day until Christmas expanding the Harry Potter universe in some way. Link

So happy this is happening. Hope they don't disappoint.

If these are as bad as the skeeter ones I will be disappointed.

Personally, I liked the little detail that muggles used to frequent the Leaky Cauldron.

Recently released bit about Potions should settle a few arguments:

Todays update on vampires was a total blow, she is not making the effort she used to.

Basically it says "Vampires have been done by everyone else and arent British so I didnt want to do them"

    Double post.

After several empty updates todays was on Infiri. Nothing that interesting really, pretty much just the base assuptions. Just says they are rather hard to make, can be given different commands but have no ability to think. And that the ones in the cave are mostly dead muggle hobos Voldemort killed for that reason, although with a few "missing" wizards.

New update from Rowling about Draco Malfoy. I didn't read all of it, but I like that whole paragraph about fangirls. Reading comments, it seems that Rowling wasn't successful in discouraging them from liking him though.

These "Christmas updates" all seem to be focused on JKR's feelings about canon material rather than revealing anything new about the world itself.
