Well you can create an account on Pottermore again, and go back to your old house or get resorted. I got resorted and went from Gryffindor to Hufflepuff. I hope this means that Pottermore will bring back some of the old games like potions and dueling.

• Located in Brazil, with a Portuguese name, yet there is argument over whether it or Hogwarts went for the 'ruined castle' look first. Uh, aren't we talking at least 400 years difference in age here? And why on earth would a castle be a good cover in Brazil?

Beauxbatons - They're French

• Hey, look, they're all French and stuff.

Hogwarts - Oh, You Again

• Actually not as interesting as you thought. And isn't that the point of perpetually updating 'canon'?

 

Although we aren't likely to hear much more on it, there has to be much more to the wandless spellcasting thing. If African wizardry has no need for wands, why were they picked up in the past century or so? I was going to ignore the Animagus thing, but at least they're all still non-magical animals.

All in all, I'm a little disappointed with that one. The whole "Dream Messenger" prelude from way back when made it sound like the perfect setting for specialities in Divination. Astronomy is fair, though.

On the bright side, at least there's no Oni-summoning all-powerful kinjutsu being taught at Mahoutokoro.

 

Not sure the weebs would like that. It generally sounds like a no-fun-allowed school that produces automatons (apparently, Dark Magic is simply "illegal magic" for Europeans). Also, where da katanas at.

 

I like the additions Jo is making and I can't wait for the rest.

 

I go to the home page normally and look at what they post there. Is there a better way to view new writing from Rowling? Is the only new stuff so far just the info on schools and sorting and choosing a wand?

 

It's kind of weird that they're able to use wandless magic so early when it's supposed to be more complicated and difficult. I guess the learning curve is much steeper there.

Slytherin again

Wand was different though

Gryffindor, didn't really expect that at all... hmm. Cherry, Dragon heartstring, 13 inches.

I figure that the wandless magic is probably much more simplistic than wanded magic, which is probably why they have taken to using them. Additionally, James, Peter (an underwhelming wizard to be sure), and Sirius all became animagi by age 15. It can't be that mindbogglingly difficult.

 

Honestly hate the wandless magic thing. It's the only info to come out of Pottermore in a while that has me annoyed. What's the point of a wand again? Guys like Dumbledore and Voldemort who are supposed masters of magic still use wands for magic, why? All you need is a middle finger to fuck someone over with magic now.

 

Yeah, I'm writing all that off. "Evil detecting robes," my ass.

I finally did the Sorting/wand thing. Got Gryffindor, and wand is vine wood with dragon heartstring, 12 1/2 inches. (Something something dick joke.)

 

Seriously. If this exists why aren't they used all over? They would've caught Tom Riddle real quick if Hogwarts used them.

Honestly I think she's got a team of people making shit up that they just run by her which she just agrees too because some of this sounds like 2005 fanfiction.

Got sorted into Slytherin. Wand is ebony, dragon heartstring, 12.5", unyielding.

I'm annoyed the SLytherin house description still says Merlin was a Slytherin. When I first saw that many years ago I wrote it off as bad videogame writing, but now it's most assuredly canon.
