I advise you to look at the post above yours. Great writer that he is, Im not sure that in 24 hours he solved his writers block and got enough of the chapter done to project a release date.

To IP82: Great fic! Its really one of the better independant Harry stories and I cant wait for more. Other than the grammer in the first few chapters, that has cleaned up a lot in the later chapters everything is spiffy

 

I like your fic IP, It's intelligent and interesting and I can't wait to get my dark little grubby hands on more.

Indefferent as you may be, this may answer your question of an update:

being stuck on a chapter is an annoying and frustrating thing. It can put you off writing for a while. I'm sure when IP overcomes his block, he'll let you know when an update will come.

 

We will still hold out hope that that update will be made sooner, rather than later...

Besides the next update, which, true, I was wondering about, I'd want to know if Harry will try to remove the 'limitation ward' on his wand, or, in other words, be able to learn spells like any other student without any problem. And, if yes, if Dumbledore will realise what he had done.Anyway, it's a very good fic, so continue.
By the way, will Harry try to completly destroy Dumbledore, or just kill him?

I think Dumbledore would have noticed it if he removed the ward. I think I'll have him take absoulte minimum amount of classes and concentrate on those where you don't use magic.

That's too far ahead, but at the moment, I'm inclined towards destroying his reputation (coz that's what he values the most).

I don't think Dumbledore & the rest of the Wizarding world would allow Harry not to learn some major skills, like Charms and DADA. Decision like that would draw too much attention.

I'm more inclined that Harry figure out dueling techniques and find his own style in squirmishes against his future allies and death eaters than to be brainwashed by some mentor/teacher. Since he won't be learning martial arts or something similar, there is really noting theory-wise he couldn't pick up from books.

Besides, no one can quite teach Harry how to become Dumbledore, right? Yes, a teacher could make him into a competent, knowledgabele wizard, but chewed up knowledge can get you only so far. The best way to learn something isn't to hear it, but to experience it.

Look at it this way - you can learn about computers in school and become extremely competent tehnician/programmer. But the only way to become a true hacker and gury is to spend days and days strugling and figuring out things on your own. That way, instead of receving already chewed out, dry, hands-on knowledge, you'll be experiencing things first hand and start to truly UNDERSTAND the workings of computers beneath the hood. Understanding can't be taught, it can only be gained through personal experience.

So teachers can make you competent, but to achieve true greatness and understanding of the art you're in, you need to figure out things on your own.

Not to mention that I like Harry to be the top dog, not some wide-eyed snivelling apprentice.

Scientists for now. The ministry forbid any kind of individual experimenting and oppened up the DOM to perform research on their own (or more like, sweep anything "dangerous" under the rug). Witholding knowledge = gaining control.

 

I hardly expect Harry to start learning kung-fu but he is going to pick up some form of hand to hand combat in your storis isn't he?
