I'm thinking of getting a new graphics card, probably the GeForce GTX 280 (if you all think that something else is better, or is much cheaper but still comparably the same quality, please tell me). My problem is that I'm not sure if my current power supply and motherboard can keep up. I have an Asus M2N32 SLI delux motherboard and a 700 watt power supply, I believe (shaky on whether that is the correct wattage, but it is either that or a 750).

If you all could give me any feedback, I'd appreciate it.

Power supply of the top of my head i'd say thats more than enough. You will not be able to do sli or crossfire (personally i dont like em anyway) with that power supply. But that shouldnt bother you.

Personally i would go with a 4870 with 1 gig of ram for about 200 dollars at newegg instead of the GTX280 which goes for about 400 give or take. The GTX280 isnt a whole lot better than the 4870 and in fact once you reach higher resolutions and enable AA the 4870 can beat the GTX.

So currently the 4870 is by far the better buy. That being said I would hold off on bying either card for a bit as prices on them are dropping and the GTX especially should receive a price drop soon so that it can compete with the 4870.

Cheers and let me know what you think if you do go ahead and buy the card.

nVidia say that the max amount of power that the graphics card will use is 236W and the recommended minimum power supply for a system containing a GTX280 is 550W, so I would think that you would be fine with a 700W power supply.

    nVidia: GeForce GTX 280
Thermal and Power Specs, under the specifications tab.

And heres link to a power supply calculator from Antec: link

    Hope this helps.
