    She goes to Brown.

Edit: I'm sure Jangel can tell us more about this.

If you're in Paris, the majority of theaters show movies in original version. In a few other cities (like Lyon or Lille), you should be able to find a showing in English. Otherwise, you're indeed fucked.

I'm in the opposite situation, being in San Francisco visiting a friend that doesn't give a crap about Harry Potter. I'll have to drag him or see it alone.

Just got home from premiere, pretty nice and much better then part 1 in my opinion. It's like 7-8 last chapters of book in 2 hours. Pretty epic.

That was probably my favorite Harry Potter film of them all. The special effects, the acting, the moments that were pure epic. It was awesome.

I loved the ending. No, not the epilogue (fuck the epilogue).

    The fact that Harry
broke the elder wand and threw the pieces over the bridge outside Hogwarts.

Got back from premiere. I'll second the statements that DH Part 2 is very good. In my opinion, it actually topped the book, and that's hard for any movie adaptation to pull off.

Got back from midnight showing in my area. Great conclusion, and pretty much everything the last few posters have said.

A few changes were somewhat grating but hey.

Really, Ollivander? Suddenly you know what the Hallows are?

Good stuff overall for the Hogwarts Battle.

I think we can all pretty much agree that the Draco/Voldemort "hug" was just about the most awkward thing ever.

Went to see it today and yesterday. My favourite part was probably the scene with the Grey Lady, her comment on how Harry reminds her of Tom Riddle, and her scary face when she says she knows who and what Tom did.

Also liked the context on how the Trio pretty much figured out that Harry was a Horcrux and how sad it was when Harry confirmed it. Really great acting from Dan and Emma there.

Neville was funny, and Luna/Neville is kind of canon now...

Why was Cho Chang in Hogwarts. I could understand her being in the Room of Requirement, but she was in uniform and everything. Did they downgrade her a year? Thought she was supposed to be a year older than Harry.

I think they made Cho the same age as Harry.

I liked it. I just had three issues with it.

Where is the fucking Fred scene. You know. WHERE HE DIES IN FRONT OF YOU. -rage- I really wanted to see Percy just loose it.

Harry/Voldemort scene of merging, hugging... what the fuck? It was just awkward as all hell.

Lastly, they lessened Neville's scene, in my opinion. I thought he deserved to fucking chop off his head in front of everyone. Same with Harry and Voldemort.

I hope this doesn't create like... epic hate for Dumbledore as they portray him so badly. I can't stand an increase in Dumbledore bashing. -_-

Awesome special effects were awesome. Hogwarts crumbling = :'(
Snape's memories were brilliant. Overall, I am satisfied.

Some bad scenes and awkward moments, but overall it's pretty epic - though maybe I'm biased.

    EDIT: Where are you, Silens?

I haven't seen the HBP movie or the DH part 1 movie. I was thinking about going to see this one this weekend though. Given that I'm more than familiar with canon, is there any reason to watch those two movies before I go see this one? Anything specific to the movies that I might enjoy the last one more for having picked up? Etc.?

    Just got back... my opinions...

I liked the bit with Griphook, it showed his betrayal and the distrust between them during the mission a lot more, but Ron, using the Imperio?

Fleur sending a look at Harry at the door for like five seconds, dunno if anyone else caught that but I think it might create some drabbles...

Snapes memories, why was the scene with Lily saying "Harry, be safe, be strong" there, as surely he would've stepped in if he actually seen it?

The scenes with Abeforth and Albus were rushed and destroyed most of that story.

Peter Pettigrew seems to have remained alive.

The little bits of comedy were alright, but a few seemed a bit forced.

Harry randomly jumping out of Hagrids arms when there was no danger to anyone else?

Lastly, Molly blasting Bellatrix into tiny peices? o.o I would've prefered the AK.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I wish I look that good when I hit my late thirties.

The special effects were good, but the movie just seemed really, really rushed.

That bit made me hardcore nerd rage, but all in all, I thought it was an entertaining movie. The 'artistic' deviations from canon were actually tolerable alternatives. It was certainly less awkward than Part 1 and there were far fewer 'let's stare pensively into the distance' shots. Thank God.

As I said on the other thread,

why was the Dumbledore subplot cut?

    And,

the whole 'look into my eyes, Harry' thing with Snape is just going make the slashers worse. And the whole bit where Harry drags Voldemort of a cliff.

I almost burst into laughter in the middle of the film when I thought of what would happen if it cut off and then a message came up on the screen saying 'To be continued Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part Three.'

I saw it twice, mainly because my brother and I went to the midnight screening and then my friends and I went at a more reasonable time. I came away not really liking it, because it missed out some of the important subplots, but now I quite like it, it's grown on me for some reason. Although, I didn't really like the book.

Of course... and like in the books, it was added as a random afterthought.

This. Many of the little things that made the book enjoyable were left out. Certain things were changed that didn't have to be, while some things were changed because they really didn't have a choice.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I went and saw it at midnight, the day it came out - lol at the people wearing robes and wizard hats - and I thought it was worth it.

I'm a little pissed off that they got rid of Percy's greatest moment. The guy yelling "ROOKWOOD!" and charging the Death Eaters is one of my favorite moments of book 7.

And bonus, for all you who understand why Molly beating Bellatrix is bullshit (trollololol Blaise?), the fight scene is actually quite better than in the books. I like how Molly jumps in front of her daughter as one of Bella's curses gets too close, but once she's there she hesitates, as if not sure she's up to the task. But then comes the mocking and the first curse, and she manages to block it. Molly sort of builds up in confidence, you can see her eyes narrowing and her concentration sharpening, and suddenly it's Bella who is in the defensive. Kudos to the fat chick for making Molly believable.

And I was expecting to hear a lot more "NYAAA! AVADA KEDAVRA! NYAAA!", but none were forthcoming.

And thank fuck for that. Made the times when it was actually verbalized more important.
