Thanks to the sweet sweet anonymity of the internet, those with anxiety disorders, like myself, can covertly be obnoxious, attention-seeking asshats without the judgement of a room full of people. :awesome

Went to the 5:30 am showing in IMAX 3D because someone had an extra ticket (although I would have gone later anyways). I was not surrounded by retards; in fact, the audience was perfectly well-behaved. Don't know why everyone else seems to be getting fucked over.

I thought it was a great movie overall; it was better than the book, and definitely the best of all the movies. I don't really have much to say that hasn't been said...some random thoughts:

Harry and Ron take their shirts off after Gringotts escape and Emma puts another one on? I was disappoint.

Yes, McGonagall's "always wanted to do that spell" line was out of place.

Neville was fucking awesome. I hope this actor goes far.

    Die, Ginny, die.

Harry being all "I'm here, Headmaster" was weird.

I wish more magic was used in some parts...like drying charms and stuff to make yourself not have to climb fucking piles of furniture, etc. To paraphrase Ron, are they wizards or not?

I thought it was weird that there wasn't more public notice of Harry...I mean, I didn't expect people to be swarming him, but he was pretty much ignored in a lot of parts. It just felt unrealistic.

Snape death scene + memories were satisfactory. Memories especially were a great sequence.
TL;DR - Would watch again. In fact, I will watch it again. It was a quality movie.

Watched it. Movie was okay at best, however. I was disappointed because so many of the more badass/awesome/heartwarming parts were taken out. And heartbreaking, too.
    e.g.
"I'll join you when HELL freezes over! Dumbledore's Army!"
    and
"I have enough trouble for a lifetime."
    and
Percy's return, joke, Fred's death, and Percy's rampage

P.S. I was SO ready to shout "Kill the spare!" but they didn't show the Twilight trailer at my theatre. :(

Overall the film was okay. Not great but not bad. The epilogue is pretty atrocious, but I suppose that's entirely Rowling's fault.

I liked some of the duelling sequences. Fast, snappy, confusing - as I imagine a duel between wizards would be. The out-of-control Fiendfyre was suitably powerful and awesome. I always hated the idea of Bellatrix getting killed by Molly and it sucked just as bad in the film version. Neville should have done her in. Then Ron or someone could have beheaded the snake.

The deaths of Harry's friends and such was poorly handled. As you didn't even see them happening, there was no emotional power behind them at all.

But overall, the film wasn't too bad. Worth a trip to the cinema, but not for more than one viewing.

    I could not agree more.

I did indulge myself and went to see the film. Picked up one of those promo posters they were handing out as well (off to eBay it goes.) Overall it was a great movie, until I realized to my horror that Fleur only got one damn line in the movie. "He's weak." (referring to Olivander.) What. The. Hell.:facepalm

And I'll agree 100% that Lestrange's death was horribly executed (no pun intended).

Also, I could easily be wrong, but I thought the book mentioned that Voldemort's body remained intact, rather than flying away in a billion bits of ashes.

Just finished watching it, and most people have said everything I've wanted to say. The Lestrange death was terrible but I think it was equally as bad in the books. I think the reason they chose not to have Molly AK her was because of a discussion I was having beforehand with a friend. I was telling him how it's ridiculous that no one arrests Molly after killing Lestrange. I don't remember anyone else in the book out right killing anyone, but Bellatrix's was blatant. Essentially that scenes teaches that it's ok to kill someone so long as there a bad person. Voldemort in the books technically died by his own curse but Bellatrix was murdered. So I guess the movie wanted to portray it differently. We spent 7 movies explaining how evil the killing curse is. To have Molly use it in this instance I think would of made it too ridiculous. Not that Bellatrix disintegrating was any better.

I must say the music for DH part 2 was brilliant.

    Lily's theme was fucking heartbreaking.

I went to the advanced screening before the 15th. I really liked most of the movie, but there were a few things…

The romance between Hermione and Ron is good (not just in DH 1 + 2 but it’s been there since PoA), progressive, passionate etc etc blargh. But the romance between Harry and Ginny is so... Awkward. It nearly made me sick, Dan and Bonnie have no chemistry. Their 'kiss' left much to be desired. The scene where Harry/Ron/Hermione arrive in the RoR and Ginny runs in... There was heaps of potential to make the pairing work but it just didn't. It didn't work in the books and it couldn't even be forced in the movies. Damn you Rowling.

I was happy that in DH 1 + 2 they made Harry more bad-arse at duelling, even though he kinda floundered around on the defensive 99.9% of the time. Anyone else notice the almost constant silent spell casting?

I’m almost ashamed to say it took me until Harry caught Snape’s tear(could be a skill as a Master of Legilimency? *clutching at straws*) in the flask before I knew WTF they were doing. The whole time I kept thinking, oh damn they’re going to leave out the memories! And ah, apparently one tear is equivalent to over a dozen memories? That doesn’t fit within book-canon or the movie-canon universe. On the plus side Snape’s death although lame for being held in the boat-house was awesomely violent.

Why wasn’t James Potter wearing glasses as a young boy!?

Where the hell was Teddy? They just casually mentioned that Lupin had a son during the resurrection scene…

Wasn’t Harry supposed to repair his Phoenix Wand with the Elder Wand? Loved the look on Ron’s face when Harry snapped the Elder Wand though.

The epilogue… Eh. My friend and I debated on walking out before it played just cause reading it was sickening enough. But we stayed. I chuckled uncontrollably when even Daniel couldn’t say “Albus Severus Potter” without flinching. God that name is ghastly.

Lastly I really hoped they’d do something with how unfulfilling the ending is. Nothing really changed. Slytherin’s are still misjudged, the whole pure-blood issue is never resolved. Or werewolves for that matter… I really would have preferred an epilogue with still images of the characters with small bio’s or something.

“Hermione went on to work for the Ministry in the department of House-Elf rights or whatever…”

“Harry became the Minister of Magic and totally brought about world peace and equality for all.”

“Ron played Quidditch and had six kids…”

    TL;DR - 3.5/5

I enjoyed it alot. I'm glad they split it up now because I had shivers in alot of the scenes. Especially the memory scenes. I also enjoyed that Harry was alot more competent, and so was Ron, both in dueling and out of it (casting the protection spells, it's a small thing but still).

The music was epic. No two ways about it.

The epilogue was..:/ I hated how they looked but the name "Albus Severus Potter" never really bothered me THAT much that.

    4/5 from me.

P.S. In DH Part 1 at the wedding, Bonnie looked hot. Just sayin..

It's good, but personally I like Severus and Lily (from the Pensieve scene) more.

Also, I just saw ratings on Rotten Tomatoes - 97% (228 reviews overall) and 100% (39 reviews of the top critics), which is a little more than any LotR movie and definitely more than the second best rated HP movie - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with 91% (232 reviews overall) and 90% (42 reviewsof the top critics). Here you can see ratings of the rest.

This is of course percent of positive reviews, not how they compare it to other movies in themselves, but it's still interesting how being the last film in the series seems to make critics much softer in judging it.

I think it's being rated higher because most people (including me) think it simply is the best film in the series.

Now I've finally seen it sobre...

Massively non-impressive end to a hugely disappointing series.

    That is, literally, it.
