I picked up a copy of FF7 a while back, and long story short, I just finished Disc one. When it gave me the 'insert disc 2' screen I did so... And it gave me a black screen for a minute or so, then made that error beeping sound, and didn't load. I've tried loading directly onto disc 2, and it did the same thing.

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

    Your disc is probably fucked.

God I hope not, but I did buy it used. Doesn't look like there are any scratches though, and it works fine until I try to load a file.

I had the exact same problem with Driver 2. I still don't know how it ends.

Probably this. It could be your memory card, or the save itself, but I doubt that.

    Why not try an emulator?

Because I never found a playstation emulator I could actually get to work, because I don't know where to buy a decent usb controller (yes, I am that anal about games like that, I'm a PC gamer when appropriate, but I like my controllers with console games), and because my save has 98 hours logged into it

There are several PS1 emulators around with good compatibility. pSX has always worked flawlessly for me. But I guess it's kind of a moot point if you haven't solved the controller thing.

Why on earth have you spent 98 hours on disc 1?

About 30 was probably with it paused, but I spent a long while grinding in that hallway in Junon where you ull the lever to make stronger enemies show up. All of my characters were level 50+, and almost all of my materia were mastered. Also had all of the limit breaks that were available.
