Don't rush of you're not in the US, that initial file will probably differ in two weeks.

Will do. I don't have any actual games coming with the console, but Resogun is free on PS+ and looks sweet.

Plus there's that PS4 port of Flower...

 

Resogun is as good as any triple a title out atm - and you'll probably get more hours out of it than any of them.

Contrast looks really fun too, and beautiful. Free too on ps+.

All the major gaming websites haven't reported any major hardware issues (there are some lemons, but a tiny few and those consoles were supposedly replaced already). No heating issues either, even when playing on the same console all day like they've been - shocking, considering the size of the box and the internal psu.

Finally, who else squealed at the uncharted 4 announcement?

 

Judging from review scores alone it's probably better than the AAA titles out for the new consoles, actually.

 

Having fun right now was able to start a download of AC 4 but then a generic PS store is down for maintenance appeared whenever I try to go back. Which is to be expected really, and at least my game is downloading no matter what so that's cool.

Also, I am such a liar, first I said I wasn't going to get it, then that I'm just buying it to sell it, but once I had that thing in my hands...... Well I've got a brand new PS4 so that's cool.

 

The guys at GiantBomb are streaming some PS4 content.

As of this posting they're messing with the UI. Really interesting so far.

Pardon the double/merged post. I sure wish UPS would have delivered my PS4 before people started getting home from work, because I can't connect to the PSN at all, and that's kind-of a problem considering I don't own any physical games for this thing.

FEdit: Also, I have to re-enter my PSN details every time it fails to connect, which is a weird oversight.

 

I'm so glad US release is two weeks before rest of world! Lol

 

Managed to get through authentication hell, downloading Resogun, Flower, and Contrast. The rate doesn't seem great, but I'm also downloading three games at the same time and PSN is getting smashed, so that's fair.

Also it'll still be a shitshow when it releases in Europe, sorry!

 

I'm in au, timezone will probably let me get on and downloading hours before people.

 

Assuming it's not a shitshow from everyone else in your time zone picking it up, sure.

I'm so jelly, i wanna play resogun so bad!

 

Just did a brief stream demo using the built-in software. I can't comment on the quality (since I was too busy actually playing Resogun to look at it), but getting it started was incredibly simple. All you have to do is:

hit Share
Start Broadcasting
[select Twitch or Ustream]
Log-in (unless you've already tied your account to the system)
Select settings and go.

I used the default headset since I don't have a PS Camera and needed a mic to use. It was really seamless, and the chat was on-screen as I streamed. The only downside is that it scaled the game down, but I imagine there's a way to fix that.

 

I'm getting the cam, what's the range on the mic like? And does it filter out game noise? I'm using 5.1...

 

I don't know, but it's probably not great. Thankfully the port on the DS4 (and the plug for the pack-in headset) is standard, so if you want to just use another headset mic you'll probably be fine.

 

Apparently I'm the only DLPer who's picked up a PS4 only game.

Knack is actually pretty good.

 

I'm picking it up along with the camera, stand, charging station and extra controller on the 29th.

It looks okay, really hard, but a bit repetitive on the offensive side. The story seems really contrived and annoying though, unfortunately. I bought it for the co-op anyway.

I'll also be getting and downloading killzone, resogun, flower, sound shapes and contrast onto my ssd. Hoping the lack of disk read speed bottlenecks makes them run a lot better and snappier.
