No, AQ is fucking dire and needs to die in a car fire.

    Back on topic:

OP, ignore style guides, rules of writing and pretty much everyone else's ideas on how to write a story and just write words that flow in your head. I never put much thought into how words go down on the page until I go back and clear up some of the random mistakes I've dropped in here and there. They say quality is more important than quantity, but honestly ten better than average sentences are better than one amazing sentence.

That's my pro-tip for the day.

Worth it. Honestly one of my top three fics/series of all time.

For AQ, feel free to read the ragestorm on the library topic (that ended up locked I believe). I think it's worth it. Also when the hell is the next one coming out damnit.

I've already made a fool of myself about purple prose, so I don't feel the need to say anything there.

Ergh, I had the same problem with Alexandra Quick--right in the middle of the third book I just got bored with it. And I keep expecting things to get even just a teensy bit better, but no--everyone still hates her guts (and rightfully so, in many cases). It's kind of a downer, haha. But the author is veery good at making life hard for her protagonist.
