Eh, I figure the female!Harry will run out of steam once the Author gets past the initial plot bunny of having Harry be Female.

Nothing in it seems to hint for a continuation after that. I could be surprised though.

The only problem I had with the oneshot was the length: I would've liked to see a bit more... I felt like it left me hanging.

Hm... Here's another interesting fic: In the Defence by Garcka. Premise is that the Gatekeeper wasn't at Molly's trial.

    Edit:
I just had an odd thought. For all the downsides of having such a small fandom, I think they're may be some upsides as well: a higher good:junk ratio, a smaller social network...

Unfortunately not. There is a fair amount of junk and a very limited "good" or better amount of Dresden fiction to be found.

Compared to the HP fandom? A quick glance at FFN seems to confirm my position: On the first page of the Dresden story list there are several good stories. I haven't read any of the stories on the first page of the HP story list, but I'm sceptical about their quality...

Read the comments about 'The Archive' it's full of slash. Unsurprising, really.

While perusing the Dresden fiction over at fanfiction.net a few days ago I ran into http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1963348/Stutley_Constable. So far from what I read his Catspaw fic has decent writing, a decent, if not exactly Dresden-subtle plot, it conforms to the bookverse, its length isn't horrible and it has been updated recently. Oh and Dresden isn't gay.

The downside to this fic is the chapters are horribly short to start and he enjoys big blocks of paragraphs while writing. If the author could pull himself away from those giant paragraphs it would actually be quite good.

Overall, writing style is solid but needs work on the dialogue/interaction side and the plot is decent. Compared to the other straight Dresden fics around? Easily 4/5. Compared to the crossovers on DLP, more around a 3-3.5. Still very readable though, and it's something.

The author has one more Dresden fic but I've yet to check it out. Anyway, hope this helps some of your Dresden itch.

EDIT: After posting, I decided to read the last few chapters. They still don't go on quite as long as I'd like and his paragraphs used for setting are still too large but he does a nice job of breaking it up with dialogue later on and the story definitely has my interest in more than just a something-to-do fashion.

Tried to give it a whirl, but his sentences seem to come in one of two varieties: absolute minimum length or massive unpunctuated messes.

But, sadly, it's still on of the better Dresden fics with a decent length. I'll probably try to finish it at some point, but it's because I'm in dire need of more Dresden, not because I like the story a whole lot.

    Massive paragraphs? Not reading it.

The only thing that stops me reading a fic faster is Snape shoving his cock up Harry's arse.

Eh, if you can manage the paragraphs the first few chapters, when he begins to introduce dialogue more often it becomes much better. But that's the desire for something Dresden speaking.

Latest chapter makes this fic worthless.

I mean, Dresden taking out the Merlin, what the fuck? The fight scene was pathetic compared to what Butcher writes as well.

Yeah, that's not going to happen any time this century. Or the next.

The writing of the characters feels out of place in areas. I mean, Morgan's character has clearly been reverted back to Storm Front levels of assholiness.

And why would the Summer Lady step in? She seemed to have no intention of interfering in Proven Guilty regardless of her opinion on the matter.

Well, seeing as Jim Butcher has changed his fanfiction policy, and opened a forum for it on his website, there may be a new repository worth checking.

Hey that's cool. Nice catch. I was unaware of his prior policy but I'd say this is a nice change. Maybe we'll see more good stories crop up now.

Also it strikes me as interesting that we've all been posting stories to this "Quality Dresden material" thread instead of to the "For Review" section. Personally that's because the one I posted here was more of an "Almost recommended" type, and others might feel the same, but it still struck me as amusing.

Well, Butcher's still not going to read anything, but it might be good to expand the fanbase.

    Who knows? He may.

And, I'd be highly interested in seeing those guys reactions to some of the excellent stuff written over here.

Perhaps he already has? If I wrote a book, I'd search around for the fanfiction being written about it.

But in case he hasn't, droping a link to the DWBA sounds like a good idea....

I'd instead go and drop links to specific stories.

    Shezza's, Littlechicago's and so on.

Giving a DWBA would be a bit too generalized imo.
