A quick google tells me it's Paramour from Skullgirls.

It's not exactly a memorable fic, but it gets better a bit, I think? That part probably was a failed attempt at comedy. If memory serves, the fic's redeeming characteristics were the Team 7 friendship, the fact that even though Naruto got this new uber-dojutsu, it wasn't instantly smooth sailing for him, and that it actually gave more focus to Naruto learning seals than to the actual dojutsu.

Perhaps Xandrel remembered this fic as being better than it actually is?

 

See, that's actually what killed it for me. I read like 3-4 more chapters and Naruto gets the whole cliche let's-learn-seals thing. Sasuke calls him Fuin-dobe (nearly closed it the moment I read that).

you're probs not going to be learning how to seal randomly. Like, that's such a waste.

Chacun à son goût. *shrugs* For me, seals are a selling point, to the point I'll read anything that is not an obvious brain bleach candidate, while dojutsu/bloodline!Naruto is a red flag to run away from. Who knows what sold it to xandrel.

Like I said, I don't remember much about this fic ("Fuin-dobe", really? :facepalm), but I do remember that I found the seals thing surprisingly random, because you're right, it doesn't fit. Neither that nor the dojutsu bothers me half as much as the fact that it has so, so many of the badfic clichés inside, like the public assassination attempt from a drunk, the rabid council demanding Naruto's execution for a prank, that sort of thing.

But it probably isn't half as bad as we're now making it sound.

About the fic guys, I was merely interested in the mechanics of the eyes in it, the rest is very meh.

 

So, my brother just asked me if I knew any Naruto fanfiction in which there is war and it is well written. Any recomendations? Because the only one with war that comes to mind is Lost Soul and I don't really like it.

 

Well, I don't want to be a dick, but read the thread. There have been several recommendations with a large amount of war in them, besides Lost Soul.

 

If Lost Soul is your measuring stick, then AlexDnD over at ffnet comes to mind. He has two fics centering around war, Genius Sensei and Shinobi no Kami. Arguably better than Lost Soul and I think it was recommended in this thread even? The writing style is not my cup of tea, since the fighting scenes that make up just about 90% of the fics fall flat far too often, but I've been told that they're great to read when you want to read fighting/war centric fics.

Kill Your Heroes by Evil Is A Relative Term is a Sakura centric story that I was pleasantly surprised to discover. The author also wrote Five Kingdoms for the Dead, which is probably the most popular Sakura centric story I can think of. I did like FKftD, but I thought it had some problems, which I won't discuss right now.

Anyway, back to Kill Your Heroes. Like FKftD, the author doesn't really read over their stuff so careful because there are still some oddly worded sentences and a few grammar mistakes, but all things considered, I think KYH is easily better so far in this respect and the errors aren't as egregious as they were in the past. In fact, it's pretty easy to gloss over them. I think the author has definitely improved since FKftD, which is encouraging.

Sakura is characterized very well and the progression from where she started in chapter 1 to where she is in chapter 20 is both believable and realistic. Sakura is able to tap into her potential with the help of Kakashi.

3.5-4/5 from me, but I've always liked Sakura when she's done well.

 

Evil is a Relative Term's always annoyed me because of the Naruto bashing. You can have sexy bishies get it on with Sakura-chan without Naruto bashing. Srsly.

Νοne just yet. As for how it's come ... okay-ish? Not terrible like many people might tell you (it has its good points, like interactions with Sasori), but it's lost much of it's forward momentum from the first series.

It's okay. Not great as it used to be, but not bad. If you have some spare time, read it.
