Team 8... is meh tbh :/ The writing is good but it just gets sooooo mushy, and Kurenai fighting S Class Ninjas/Talking down to them pissed me off.

 

...Didn't she get killed? Evens out, I would think.

Though I lost interest in Team 8 before that confrontation came about anyway.

 

Team 8 is not a story that has aged well. It uses too many outdated and just dumb Naruto tropes, with the occasional inclusion of something too silly to take seriously, that it just isn't that much fun.

Stuff like unrepentantly-evil-douchebag-Hiashi, moral-highground-Naruto, jerk-Sasuke and so on. Iruka bankrupting Hyuuga elders because they bet so much on Neji, since it is impossible for a Hyuuga to lose, was just stupid. In a world full with S-rank, the Hyuuga are not even a blip on the radar. Konoha alone has 3-4 people who could pull an Itachi on the Hyuuga clan, so, that kind of arrogance in that world just doesn't make any sense. They would never have survived for that long.

I mean, it was fun with the team-bonding and all, but, overall, despite its hype, not one of the top Naruto stories. Guess it still is a quality story of sorts, but meh.

 

I'm looking for fic where Gama Sennin Naruto decided to travel the world. Clans are still mostly divided.

Team 8 was my shit back in the day...now, I can't even bring myself to pick it back up. Also, actual bad guy Itachi sorta just ruins it for me.

 

Itachi was much cooler when he was just psychotic killer who slaughtered Uchiha clan to test his capacity. Always liked that.

Unfortunately, Kishi ruined everything.

 

I mean, I really have no problem with bad guy Itachi...just like, OP probably went that route because he thought Itachi was a bad guy at that point in the canon story...it's just these little things that ruin stories for me. Like stories with Naruto's parentage before we knew for a fact who his parents were (i.e classic Arashi)

Nine Tailed Serpent has always been one of my favorites...so sad it was discontinued. Houses of the Holy was pretty sick too.

Giving the fic a try now, sounds funny if nothing else.

 

I do know the art it is based on the fanfic. I just did not mention it.

 

I don't think this has been mentioned, since I haven't seen it once in all these months of lurking about the forums. I've been hooked on SAO (Sword Art Online) for a while and have been on a bit of a quest to find a decent crossover with Naruto. I've found one worthy of any attention and damn is it wonderful. Honestly, I can't even put it into words.

Summary: A certain blonde that isn't very good with staying within the rules, a wild card; the Joker. A black haired swordsman that hides a checkered past and fears underneath his black cloak. A girl that is just looking for a way out of the prison named AINCRAD joins them on a journey with their lives in the balance. SAO, a reality that is defined by one's sword.

Honestly, I don't really know how to describe it. The Naruto in the fic feels like Naruto and yet doesn't at the same time. The pacing is a bit slow, as the plot has only made it through the first 25 Floors of AINCRAD. However, the character development, interactions, and side-plots all make up for it in the long run, providing a fresh, realistic, and enjoyable tale of life in SAO.

There's usage of a character or two from a different universe, but they definitely don't detract from the story and might as well be OC's in my opinion. The quality of the writing is superb IMO but there are times when it gets a little dull.

Really, that was a shitty analysis of this story but honestly, it's probably the single-best Naruto/SAO crossover out there and is an excellent read. You all may or may not agree, but if you read, you (hopefully) won't be disappointed.
