The only readable fic from Kur0Kishi is his Naruto/Sekirei crossover, and while I recc'd that awhile ago, you're really just better of counting that Naruto as an OC.

 

The single worst thing about this fic is that everyone is retarded. The characters all make consistently terrible decisions. From the Kages to the genin, 50 IQ points seems to be about the max.

Then there's the fight between a jounin and a genin which should have been over before the genin even realised anything was happening. In comparison, the frequent insertion of thoughts from non-perspective characters into the text is only a minor quibble.

The Naruto/Tenten romance is hackneyed and cliche - utterly unconvincing.

I stopped reading part way through chapter nine. If Cutting Loose is the pinnacle of Naruto/Tenten fics, then I feel terribly for the shippers.

I finished the first three of ten chapters, which I'm guessing is about 30k words based on the 100k total. It's an okay fic, better than expected. It's Naruto with no ninja skills, no chakra, no demon fox [nor an analog], but it does have something like Naruto's personality and unexpectedness there.

I don't see the point of this story. Sure, Naruto's been added to it, but so what? Where's the resulting exciting plot? The unexpected twists and turns? I couldn't find anything that would make me want to keep reading. The Hunter isn't a bad fic, but it is a boring one.

 

No, it didn't. See that 'Quality' word on the title? It means fucking quality. As in, decent (readable) to Library worthy.

 

Great story by RustyRed. It's a must read for anyone that likes just about everything a good book has to offer. It is sadly on Hiatus and and only 50k words. It is still a great read.

Oh dear god.

The overwhelming naivety on the part of Naruto in this fic is almost painful.

I could almost see it. "What? No! Surely they cant be evil! Everyone is good in this world! Surely they have noble reasons!" This wide eyed constantly shocked that yes. Life does in fact suck ass.

I mean seriously.

"Oh noes I'm a jinchuukuri. A demon host! Surely there's someone who can help me!"

"Well there's these other people who are demon hosts too. But they're from different villages."

"What?"

"well its not all bad. One is mizukage. But he's evil."

"Whaaaaat? how would you know that old man! All you hear about it from is from ninjas who ran away! of course they would bad mouth him. He must be a really good guy and they're just scared because he holds a demon"

I mean seriously thats the fucking conversation that really starts to kick this fic in to the hole.

And then when they meet those Mist guys killing the bloodline civvies.

I seriously doubt even canon!Naruto was this fucking naive. Did no one educate this fucker that ninjas have to kill and are sometimes fucking evil?!

And then Naruto goes on to overthrow the Mizukage with the Rebellion.

Agreed. It kind of feels like it comes out of nowhere.

 

If that's how you define "Quality," then sure. Of course, I've always defined it as "Better than average," of which most of these are not, and quite a few even less than average.

Then again, "Quality," is relative depending on what's being measured against what, of which was never discerned. So really, either of us could be right.

EDIT: As far as Rusty's naruto fic goes, I'm sure most of us would rather he update Ectomancer than that.

I've no idea about Han's canon personality but assuming he actually has one this fic probably takes major liberties with it.

I wouldn't rec this to the library, but it's a fun read with only 1 major problem (not really a spoiler but eh):

Naruto isn't able to use his chakra and instead uses tricks, plans and preloaded seals to fight people, which is fine (ninjas, whatever). But everybody treats Naruto like he's a major threat in a large scale battle, when he just.... isn't.

 

Does anyone know any nukenin!Minato or nukenin!Kushina fics?

 

If you really want to get technical with it, The Void by LD 1449 has a missing ninja Kushina. She's presumed dead, but she is a missing ninja. She's also not the focus of the story, which is what I assume you are looking for.

Every other story that I've read about one of Naruto's parents being missing ninja has been utter shit.

 

Any well done War Naruto stories while all the rookies are young?

 

I think there was one, kind of, where Kushina refused to have the Kyuubi sealed in Naruto and then left Konoha during the attack, running all the way back to Uzushio, which she rebuilt with its survivors. IIRC, it was pretty average writing but with some interesting ideas. But it is the only one I can think of that has kind-of "nukenin-Kushina" in it. You'll probably find it if you search for Uzushio fics on FF.net. I don't remember its name.

 

While I wouldn't really call Little Wooden Men well done, It's kinda readable if you have the stomach for its failures.

Hurricane Suite is a story that is simply incredible, and is gearing up for a war, but hasn't really reached that point yet. It also hasn't updated in a while, which is a real shame. It has a WbA if you want to check it out, though.

 

Little Wooden Men is a good guilty pleasure time waster. It has it's issues but if you want to have a quick read it's not so bad.

It was on my alerts for a while, but it didn't last very long. It simply has nothing going for it.

 

The Han might just be the only good thing about that fic.

Is it well written? Meh, it isn't anything special. Way too much time spent on hidden agendas and plots that don't ever go anywhere.

Let's not forget, a Naruto who would actually be liquefied by a single flick of Tsunade's finger. But wait, he wins his fights through trickery! No, sorry. He's won maybe two fights in the entire fic, both of which can be summed up with "Bullshit."

And the thing is, that's basically how the story has to end, with a fat load of bullshit. Sure, go ahead and tell me how an (admittedly sly) civilian is going to defeat Nagato and Tobi in a way where I don't call shenanigans at the end.
