She doesn't remind me of Taylor at all. Taylor is a whiny cunt who makes terrible decisions and then blames others/society when they turn out badly.

This Sakura is nothing like that.

Yes, and I freaking hated her all story through. Eventually she got so annoying to read about that I just quit the damn story.

 

Got a new rec. It's fairly short so far, but has a lot of promise; Sonata and Fugue.

The author's idea was to base Team 7's personalities and abilities off these pictures.

 

I think quite a few people have had that idea, just none of us have gotten around to writing it yet. I've actually had the first three chapters of a fic like that planned out for awhile now.

Will check it out.

 

Hilarious that Sakura gets progressively less awesome over time. Starts out wielding giant dual cleavers, and ends up clutching onto Sasuke/eating dango.

 

It is quite the solid start but all there is so far is a neat premise. Have to see whether or not this will remain good.

That said, really liked the take on all of the characters, although, I think I would have loved it if the story was focused on a Sasuke, Ino and Hinata infiltration team.

So, just hope the rest of the genin aren't left behind when Team 7 becomes super strong. The focus on these new teams gives hope to that.

Also read "In Fire Forged" and quite liked it. Nice worldbuilding on take on the characters. Sakura's seal focus and cleverness with their application in battle is quite refreshing. This one I will surely follow.

 

I really, really liked the Kakashi chapter.

And the whole bit how he reminds himself of being happy, to find the motivation on his own...

I'm honestly a bit dumbfounded right now. Awesome portrayal of Kakashi...

Do over was over a little too quickly but it was a nice read. Here something similar but longer.

 

Try One Small Kindness, and Daybreak1. They are the only quality naruto fics I know which are not guilty pleasures.

 

I'm really loving Sonata so far. The changes to the characters were done well I think. Hope this becomes as great as it can be.

 

Tried to read Child of Fire. I know it was 2007, but seriously?

 

The longer you stay in the fanfiction scene, the worse the dated-ness seems. Your advancing ability to discern quality is the greatest barrier to your enjoyment.

Sonata and Fugue was quite good, I always like to see a good fic from a fandom I havent read in a while.

 

I mean, why would someone write Harry not doing anything, being afraid of everything, not knowing anything and crying about everything for 100k words? What is the point?

 

That was the beginning of the fic. Honestly if you recall the last battle in HP Harry really did feel like giving up. As far as "Child of Fire" is concerned It's a fic about Harry leaving everything behind and having to start over. Of course he just happens to bump into Slytherin. I'm sure as the story progresses Harry will come back to his old self.
