Naruto inherits Kurama's negative emotion sensing from the Kurama in Kushina, while his twin sister has other half of him sealed in her.

Being able to sense the negativity in people causes him believe that humanity's true self is what he's sensing. This belief causes him to develop into a psychopathic mastermind and gain a fetish for provoking hatred and despair in people, making it into a constant habit.

I'd say it's YMMV because Naruto can be really taking-candy-from-a-baby-douchy at times.

I'd have appreciated the story more if it wasn't fem!Haku. I just can't take his character seriously when he's not a boy.

When people genderbend him for pairing purposes his character loses the edge that it had, and he turns into doormat. Almost like Hinata. Read Kusari and you'll see. I'd copy-paste from FFN but I can't highlight the text.

 

Well, only in bad fanfiction. Having a vagina instead of a penis doesn't make this character worse, only, if the writer writes him that way.

I remember a crackfic called something like 'Suddenly, Ninjas' where Hinata was the pampered mafia princess, Naruto is already mine (silly), kill them with a smile, yamato nadeshiko type.

Probably my fav Naruto character ever, let alone FF character or just fav Hinata.

 

To me it just seems like the author made her that way for fan-service sake.

I'm reading this now, it's really good. If there was an opposite of a bashfic it'd be this.

Reread suddenly ninjas last night and yeah, it was a blast. Really loved the friendship between Sasuke and Naruto where they genuinely liked each other, without any stupid rivalry bogging things down, just two friends supporting what the other does and working together when things call for it.

If there was something like a rivalry, it was the two trying to out-awesome each other but I'm hesitant to call that a rivalry since they didn't begrudge or deny the others accomplishments and instead celebrated it.

The alternative takes on Sakura and Hinata were great as well, as was the situation in Konoha in general.

Have to be honest, if a story were take a lot of elements of this story and worked it into a more serious story, that would be pretty awesome.

Naruto can't take two steps without running into them even if you don't count the OVAs or the filler arcs... for fuck sake.
