It's been allowed to slide until now. With new mods on board there's been an effort to pay more attention to the Almost Recc'd type threads for all of the fandoms. The recent changes to Worm on DLP were partly motivated by this.

It's not hard to see why. We've currently got a treasure trove of good Naruto fics and reviews that are subsumed in a single 2k-post thread. Those fic recs and discussions are nearly impossible for anyone to make good use of or reference in any way. The only posts that anyone sees are the latest page or two, and everything else is lost unless it comes up as a search result.

At the moment you're only seeing reminders from moderators to adjust behaviour in the Almost Recc'd threads. That may change.

I'd say so. It's a Kurama has Jubi's memories kind of fic. Kurama seems to be trying to collect the other Jinchuriki to fight Akatsuki. I don't want to tell too much more and give everything away, but the writing is solid and the story is interesting. Updates take a bit of time though.

 

Yeah. So long as the premise doesn't disgust you completely, it's worth a read. It's well on the better end of the spectrum when it comes to Naruto fanfiction. I won't give you a tl;dr of the premise, because reading about it makes a lot more sense, and it becomes clear early on.

Not sure if it's in the library, but it probably is. Read it, see how you like it.

 

It's quite good. Basically the seal breaks down and Naruto and Kyuubi struggle for control over their body, eventually agreeing to share it (Kyuubi will take over for some time, then Naruto and so on). Kyuubi is a vicious, manipulative bastard who enjoys killing people and the story is mostly about how Naruto deals with that. Good charachter development and recently some mythology has been touched on.

Hmm, stories like that are few and far in between. There's The Milieu, but it's quite short and can be a hit-and-miss. Incident Report has probably been mentioned, I'm guessing, but to my knowledge, does not follow canon ending -- Naruto is still in his late teens, IIRC. It was nice until the plot came in.

 

What I like the most about Synchronicity is the sense of wonder that the author instills into the world he's building. The story isn't perfect, far from it, but it seems to be good enough that it doesn't detract from the work as a whole.

I'm also a sucker for Kyuubi, but the overwhelming amount of fics get it's character horribly wrong IMO - so bonus points for doing something interesting in that regard.

There's also a few scenes that I really liked, but don't want to spoil anything. The author also seems to have improved from the beginning - I recall the first chapters being a bit of a slog, but over time it gets much better.

I'd recommend giving it a shot - it's a story a bit outside of the usual mould, and for me personally it hits quite a few strokes just right. It's actually one of a few fics that put a smile on my face when I see an update, and there aren't that many of them in that cesspool that is FFN as of late.

 

In the Blood by justplainrii is pretty good, I think. The basic plot is that Sasuke, while leading a genin team, happens upon a boy who looks exactly like Itachi. I won't spoil the rest. It's a behemoth of a fic and I actually haven't finished it, but I think it might sate your desire for a post-shippuden fic. Let me know what you think.

Is there really that much story to tell, or am I going to see some seriously glaring weaknesses with the author's writing style after several chapters?

 

The first chapter is pretty rough. I'd guess Option 2 after two chapters.

 

The author tends to be pretty long winded. But it's a good time waster until about chapter 60, which is as far as I made.

 

Wasn't really impressed to be honest. Cold, vaguely abusive sasuke made me super uncomfortable from the start. It didn't really get better. There's a weird shallowness to the characters - like I know all of their motivations and everything feels so preprogrammed. Maybe because it's because it's such a long fic and has to be planned rigidly or whatever.

 

I'm looking for a Naruto fanfic that has been mentioned in this forum before, but I can't find it.

It was about a Naruto who somehow gains the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception from Nasuverse.
