well, the chapters are long so beta work takes a long time. the story anarkia has much slower updates. if it isn't updated for 3 months, then i will say a story is on hiatus. anyways, i am really curious about how this succubi will help Harry on his conquest the next ex-heroine.

Chuck, what is up with you and the updating of stories? A main part of this forum is for people to get feedback from their stories. The post above yours was made a mere 2 days before the previous post, the thread wasn't dead in any way, shape, or form. I know you want the story updated, but that doesn't give you the right to tell others to stop posting unless the story is updated so that you don't get a false sense of hope.

For fucks sake man, this would make some sense if the thread hadn't been touched in a month or two, but as far as I can see it, it's alive and well, and therefore Runeknight had every right to give his view on the story. It was short, but he did give some constructive criticism.

You did this before, it's getting kind of old seeing you throw fits whenever a author hasn't updated in a while. Just stop with it. >_>

    ....

Its being beta'd now. Stop being stupid man, of course he hasn't updated. With the way you're all whining I'm starting to wonder if he should >_>

Respect the author people, he isn't at our beck and call. Everyone has a life outside of the 'net, don't forget it.

Enough of you have asked about the update and been answered, is it really necessary to keep asking when you know the answer?

I agree with what everyone has said, it would be great to get an update but alot of authors take a while to update and there storys are still great (just look at IP or naia). Also considering we know it will be a monster of an update i really dont mind waiting a little while longer.

Yes, dear Thalarian is undergoing treatment for a condition people like to call 'life'. It's a sexually transmitted disease, so Thalarian has to go down to the clinic every couple weeks for a vaccination. Poor guy.

    ...

Stop with the stupid, honestly. :wall:

You're lucky he's not spitting out 200 word updates of net slang, like the majority of FF.Net writers.

    Ouch, my pride. :(

Christ. So what if Thalarian takes 5 months to update his fic?

Operative word: his fic. He writes it when he can, not when you think he should.

And in any case, his chapters are about four times as long to eight times as long as a regular chapter on FFNet. I'm sure waiting for it is a bitch because you want to read it, just try and have some damned patience.

Well, I read your guys posts and I DID respond to them. (I sent Sree a PM over 24 hrs ago at the time of this post. His choice what to do with it, but he hasn't responded yet.)

Anyway, I re-read this fic. While it is good, I feel like its a little early to be getting all worked up about it as "fic of the year" an award it has been nominated for. So far, there's only a prologue and 1 chapter.

I think in hindsight, I may have gotten caught up in the hype as well.

I also am intrigued by what you do for the next few chapters. I HOPE you don't do a Pokemon style thing where we spend the next few chapters watching Harry "Catch All his Ladies." That would be disappointing, and would get boring fast I think. I believe everyone knows that he is going to succeed. May I suggest condensing the chapters? Maybe with each Lady and access to their powers, it gets easier to get to the others, thus shortening the time to get to them.

Also, while I appreciate the monstrousness of what Voldemort did, I was thinking that if I were going to resurrect people to be my servants, then Harry Potter's friends and relatives might not be the wisest choice, long-term.

Anyway, good luck, and I hope it goes well.

I'm sorry everyone has suddenly pulled out their knives and started going for each other's throats, so I'll put this out there now. Yes, the base chapter is complete and there are a few kinks I'm working out as it's in beta and I realized some parts would have set my up for a dead end come later. I understand the update is long overdue and rest assured I'm trying to work on it in a timely fashion (Without crimping on the quality)

Chapter 4 is being worked on as well and will hopefully be done in a much more reasonable fashion. I apologize to those who don't go into IRC much and I'll just iterate for those who only check the forums. November, December and January were fairly hard to get any writing done with the holiday seasons, birthdays and trying to sustain my relationship as well as other social events that I get dragged into. Not that these equate to excuses, but just so everyone knows that it's not like I'm sitting here on my ass staring at my screen. With the new year hopefully everything will go much smoother.

Unfortunately, no matter how I say this, I'm gonna look like an arrogant bastard. The story is already ranging 80k with only three chapters. That equals to about 10 chapters for a fair amount of stories. I'm happy beyond words that everyone is so excited about it as that at least tells me that it is an enjoyable read.

I truly appreciate the hype around the story (And I'm trying to keep it from getting to my head. DLP is a great ego killer) and I'm somewhat disheartened that you felt you were merely 'caught up in the hype' it at least means you won't become some crazy fanboy who ends up loving my work no matter what. I said it before and I'll say it again. This story will only be as good as the readers make it. Without everyone's help so far, whether it be the idea's in IRC or the critique's in the forums, I'd pretty much be sitting on a 2-D fic.

So you don't feel like I'm leading you in under false hopes, the next few chapters will probably be similar to what you're refering too.

But while these first seven chapters are a bit of a scavenger hunt, it's everything else going on in the background that will prepare for what comes after. It's all just a prelude to the war and sets a tone for what will happen. Even though finding the Queens/Ladies is partly the main focus of these chapters, it's also a chance to give the reader some insight into their personalities before shit hits the fan. A chance to witness them before the full-out war happens. How they interact with Harry, how they interact with his friends and how they interact with each other. And how that may or may not change through the course of the war.

This was actually my first major concern going into this fic was that it might get boring and as I answered in response to your previous post, the only way I can offset the boredom is by creating intense and unique scenes for each one. The base might be a bit repetative, I won't lie, but the way it's presented and what Harry has to go through will be changed from chapter to chapter. Not to mention the circumstances and the settings that he will be thrust into.

This next chapter is fairly large, and I don't believe that Chapters 3 or 4 will be nearly the length of these ones. The tone is already been set and as a hint to Chapter 3, Voldemort will soon be right on Harry's ass, so he's going to have to move quickly.

The chapters will become shorter once I get all the major groundwork out of the way and my initial outline is over and done with. (When there won't be so much to prepare for.)

I might as well throw this out now since this seems to be a common thought.

You've got to think in Voldemort's shoes for once. He doesn't give a damn about other people from history or myth. He doesn't care or possibly doesn't even know the things Harry knows about all of it. Anything that has to do with muggle religion or even legend he probably wouldn't care for on account of his hatred of that part of himself.

Voldemort's main focus has, and always will be, destroying Harry. And not just destroying him physically. But spiritually, mentally and morally. Anything he could do to attack Harry in any and all directions, and he would. He's always pictured that defeating Harry means defeating everything. You're absolutely right. You, I and anyone else would bring back people beyond Harry's relatives.

But it's quite possible that Voldemort doesn't even care about that. That's where they are different. Harry is doing this out of desperation to save himself, his friends and everything. That's why he's going after people that are rumored to be powerful.

Voldemort is arrogant, and in his own mind, feels that he could rightly do it without anyones help. His servants, while he relies on the heavily, are just an icing on the cake to a war he's already felt he's won.

Whether all of this will come back to bite him, or Harry in the ass, well I'm not sure yet. :p

Once again, I can't express how sorry I am that it's taken this long and unless you're planning to actually review it I would like to stress that everyone not start a thread war. I'm somewhat responsible for not coming in here and screaming 'IT'S ALMOST DONE' but if you've really got a question about the status then by all means PM me and I'd be more then happy to give you an update.

Once again, my apologies, and yes, it's on its way.

I can completely understand the time it takes to right chapters that are as long as yours are. THEY ARE HUGE. I can also see why you would want us to see how the ladies respond to their new roles and how they react to Harry.

all I can say is that you are the Author and however much time you need to take for each chapter to make your standard is up to you, all artists (and writing is an art) are very hard to please, that includes their own work.

I have your story on alert so I will know when I can read and review the next Chapter.

I eagerly await your next bit.
    Keep up the great work

JESUS CHRIST!!! Thal, even are your apologies are too long winded. Are by chance an old lady in disguise?

Anyways dont hurt the poor author people. He works hard for you guys. On the other hand you may hurt the beta that is Surrarin who wastes lots of time mucking around in photoshop.

I feel no guilt at bumping this topic as it is the only topic anywhere close to being alive in the restricted section, and I was incapable to accessing the net for the past few days.

First: what exactly do you have against long posts? *smiles sweetly at Nexus while hiding an axe behind her back*

Second: Surrarin isn't beta-ing the fic. Another Jon is. Last time I checked, anyway...

Third: Since I won't be able to read and review the chapter until next Thursday, feel free to wait four or five days more, Thal!
