Whatever gives Albus more magical ability than Dudley must in some way give protection against transfiguration. Which is why Crouch could transfigure Malfoy easily, the students can transfigure rats, and Dumbledore/Voldemort didn't transfigure each other.
If they don't have any effect on each other, then Voldemort would be forced to apparate/dodge all of Vader's attacks also. Vader can predict where he will apparate to and where he will dodge, while also having superior stamina and speed.
He sacrificed himself in RotJ for Luke, IIRC.
That's all we know him from, and from how others have described him.
Weak and limited in magical ability? No. Stupid? Yes.
We only know what she's written in the books. As magic is written right now, even the most powerful wizard would be defeated by any of the higher class Jedi/Sith on strength/powers alone. Dumbledore would probably beat Vader 1 on 1, but we all know he is loathe to kill so eventually Vader would succeed. Sidious/Palpatine would destroy Dumbledore in two seconds if he was prepared for a fight.
Their bodies don't decay. They corrupt the soul and force you to do horrible things, but you have people like Sion who were basically immortal and couldn't be stopped.
Like any weapon, unskilled use can lead to the wielder getting killed. Same goes with magic.

Something that has always bothered me in Star Wars is the fact that when two Jedi/Sith are fighting with lightsabers, why don't they (summon using the force?) their opponents lightsabers? There must be something in the lightsabers protecting them from external influence, so transfiguring Lord Vader's lightsaber into a rubber duck wouldn't work.

The crystals man, the crystals. They bond to the Jedi/Sith and only the Jedi/Sith can force it towards them or use it. It rejects all other influences other than the person they bonded with unless that person is dead.
