You mean 'Taure,' period. The 'canon!whore' prefix is just redundant.

I suppose so but the possible rhyme (depending on how you pronounce his name) was nice.

He was insanely charismatic as a teenager, very skilled at magic, and a parselmouth. Hell, it's likely that just being a parselmouth was enough to convince most people; everyone knows that Slytherin's descendants are the only ones who can talk to snakes.

Still, what's more important is his charisma. There are a ton of parallels between Voldemort and Hitler, for obvious reasons, but one of the main ones is that they were both extremely charismatic, to the point where they both lead a movement of racial superiority despite not being part of that race. Pureblood and Aryan are practically interchangeable in this scenario.

Quick, what sweets could Dumbledore have in his office to offer a child?

I mean I know there is a fannon-overblown obsession of Lemon drops, but I'm just looking for a simple mention that could be Dumbledorish, but not a lemon drop ;D

The HPL mentioned sweet list for refence.

I don't remember his stance on Chocolate frogs? Was there even one?

I'm thinking about Ice Mice, or a Chocolate frog, but the latter is not up to the unusual Dumbledore standards.
Also, maybe a simple muggle treat or Honeydukes chocolate?

    What do you think?

And now I'm haunted by the image of a poorly made .gif where Dumbledore eats a baby.

Yet, it's a muggle Britain's rip off Berty Bott's, and that rainbow was too wide for him.

In the film of Goblet of Fire he has licorice snaps that animate into piranha thorns, but if you wanted something less antagonistic...

malteds (aka malted milk balls or Whoppers)
    rock candy
    mint humbugs
    barley sugar
    root beer barrels
acid drops (though one wonders if this would require a teeth-regenerating draught afterwards)

Well, simply go through his passwords for the office? I think Fizzing Whizbees were picked at a time. Edit: Here. (Search for 'office'.)

And it's not fucking Lemon Drops, it's Sherbet Lemon -_-

He could offer any sweet you want, it doesn't need to be magical. For example from my own story:
It seemed appropriate. It's a small, bite-sized treat that he could have a bowl of, rather than using something larger.

But really, we just don't know, so pick something that seems in character for Dumbledore.

So I've been thinking, why are most HP duels usually filled with "colored" spells that make it easier for your opponent to dodge or escape them, it doesn't make any sense when they can just as easily use non visible spells like transfiguration and the fight now becomes less about who can dodge faster and better to actual skill and reaction to situation.

Now my question would requires your opinion whether it would be better if the high quality wizard battles were more about having an extensive knowledge of offensive and defensive spells and their hand motion(I think there is a name for this but I forget what it is) therefore the duels become more interesting since the opponent will have to figure about what the specific wand movement can do and therefore act accordingly, do you think this would make for better action scenes and generally as a method of knowing who the better wizard is?

The explanation itself (why this is so) is simple. I just had the problem in a fight scene. You know how the ideal duel would work? In utter silence, because both are using nonverbal spells, and without visible spells, to take away that advantage as well.

Right. And how're you gonna write it? :p

It's possible, of course. It's just that using multicoloured flashes is the easiest way to visualise the fight, especially if you forego the incancation, so that is what authors typically use. And to be fair, many of the spells we know are the typical 'flashes of light'. The Killing Curse. The stunning spell. You can't really have a duel without those.

If you want my opinion, the best way is, like most times, a mix. Offensive/Defensive spells with an optical manifestation, and in-between Transfiguration. (Incidentally, just like we see it in the Atrium-duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort.)

I'd add, though, that it could also depend on the person. Someone who's really good at Transfiguration might use it more than others. And as far as writing a duel that way goes, try it. That's about the only way to find out if the idea can be turned into something that's interesting to read about.

I also think spells are much harder to dodge than most fanfiction shows. I like to follow the movies in this respect.

Watch the battle at the end of OotP, especially the spell at 3:00. Spells aren't like balls/lines of light that are shot like slow bullets from a wand, triggered by an incantation. Rather, they start forming while the incantation is still being said, and this is the "travel time". The end of the incantation doesn't announce the beginning of the spell, but rather the end. The end of the incantation is when the spell completes and the effect takes place - i.e. when the enemy is hit. The only time to dodge or block is during the incantation/casting. Once the incantation is finished, you're gonna get hit. Further, during the spell formation phrase, the spell travels so quickly that all you can really see is a flash by the wand and a flash when the person is hit/blocks, unless they are standing very far away (e.g. the spell at 3:00). It seems to work almost like lightning - the process of spell formation involves the entire path of travel, including the final destination, not just the "point of origin".

@Taure, I had never thought of it that way before, I actually thought that was part of where the movies failed for me, now when I look at it this way it actually makes sense. Sesc was also right part of what makes a HP duel exciting is the visual aspect of the spell together with their effects.

Another question, personally for me when I read about a fictional world and look at the world building aspect of it, I usually find that the Religion part of it is greatest, for me it kind of makes the world real and more immersive.

Now HP doesn't have this, not that am saying the world building isn't good, its great I would say that it is a large part of the reason am into HP, but do you guys think it would have made for a better world if religion was a part of it? I know it would make for some great fanfics.

Spells can also be interrupted during the casting stage. See the Snape/Harry duel at the end of book 6:

In both cases, Snape did something to dispel Harry's spell in the process of casting. Repelling/blocking/interrupting spells is canon that's not used much in fanfiction, where the emphasis seems to be shields and their derivatives (Protego, Lovus Shieldus, etc.) This type of deflection even works on Unforgivables--earlier in the scene, Snape stops a Cruciatus spell in this fashion. The Santi's story is a notable exception to this trend.
