In the Dark knight, did Batman mean to save Rachel and not Harvey?

I always assumed that he chose Harvey because he knew Gotham needed him more than he needed Rachel and that's what made the phone call between Rachel and Harvey devastating because she knew Bruce would come for her until she hears he went for Harvey and she looks like she understands why.

 

Yeah, she understands why -- the Joker tricked Batman into saving Harvey rather than Rachel, because he thinks he's going after Rachel. Furthermore, wtf does this have to do with Harry Potter whatsoever?

 

No, he had meant to go for Rachel; the Joker lied about who was at which place.

You might want to go back and watch that scene now that you see the other side. Batman intended to save Rachel first, but misinformation from the Joker damned him to saving Harvey, who also wanted Batman to save Rachel.

 

Something that always bugged me, are Veelas and Centaurs one gender races? Does Rowling ever metions anything? With follow mithology Centaurs are all male, but I don't know about Veelas. I think they have Eastern European origin, something about nymphs. Does anyone know?

 

There's no in-book answer, but the truth may however be gleaned from JKR's WOMBAT tests, which she released on her site in 2006-2007.

The first two questions of the Grade 2 test are as follows:

1. Which of the following statements is TRUE?
a. Hags eat small children

d. There are no female centaurs
e. Vampire bites are curable nowadays

2. Which of the following statements is FALSE?

These are not multiple answer questions, as the test specifies when it wants more than one answer in later questions.

The answer to question 1 is irrevocably A. It was established on a chocolate frog card that hags DO eat children, therefore we must assume that Inferi CAN speak, Goblins DO NOT fear sunlight, there ARE female centaurs, and vampire bites are NOT curable.

The second question is much less straightforward as we cannot divine truth by elimination. All we know is that ghosts CAN influence gas and water, and that a werewolf's snout is DIFFERENT from a regular wolf, but we don't know how exactly.

So, female centaurs exist. The question of male veela I leave up to you.

I would also say that in the second question, hags having four toes seems the least reasonably believable on the surface, and so would perhaps be the most likely to be false.
