I think jbern (pretty sure it was jbern, anyway) had a pretty interesting premise on full blooded Veela in TLIL. Part veela are only created when a veela has children with a wizard, whilst pure blooded veela stay pure by exclusively procreating with muggles. It doesn't make sense from any sort of scientific viewpoint, but fuck that it's magic anyways.

I kind of like that because it's a pretty simple explanation and it fits in with the canon view on the importance of purity and their dislike of crossbreeds like Hagrid. Plus it can lead to some interesting situations, like when the pureblood Veelas looked down on Fleur in Jbern's story.

I always thought veelas were like those lizards that didn't need sex for reproducing.

So veelas have two ways of reproducing: a sexless way that produces a complete veela and if they have sex with a wizard they make a part-veela, which is just a normal witch plus the allure.

Sounds about right. I'm pretty sure that story as a whole was pretty creepy and perverted. I guess that means it's bound to be somewhere on DLP.

I guess Rowling's nudge-wink 'gee, why do we never see any female centaurs' has its own little outside-the-books explanation/retcon, now, to keep the heads of children and 'decent folk' from exploding. That way we don't have to point out uncomfortable shit like centaurs' mythology-established mat- dating pool, the seeming lack of female centaurs in the HP books, and (the livestock-esque) Umbridge's post-centaur traumatic stress disorder.

Just like Aberforth's "inappropriate charms on a goat" were for keeping their coats clean and whatnot. Right.

I already knew about that, but I didn't though it would be possible to make a entire race of rapist, that sounds something that JK would never do, but then I remenbered, she wouldn't do those disgusting thinks I thought. An also, the entire race seems to be about Chiron, not the classic centaur. And I think some at least were demigods.

Personally, I blame DLP and their thread about disgusting and insane fanfic. And adultfanfiction.net, which DLP also introduces me. The Horror, the Horror. I can't still believe someone thought Snape could have sex, no God or Author would make him with sexual organs, no one is that cruel to us.

The marriage thing is when a bunch of drunk centaur tried to rape the shit out of the bride, whose husband was a king and invited them because he is retarded. Then the human guests rescue the bride an start killing centaurs, then they go Centauromaquia (that's the name in portuguese, no ideia in english) Gotta love Thomas Bulfinch.

Lastly, Harry/Sphinx is my favorite pairing, wish had more. Almost no one see the greatness of this pairing. Taure's fic inspired me, I shall write one tic dedicated to this.

I agree with @Fatality, TLIL concept about veelas is very good. Makes sense in magical way.

On an complete unrelated note, I need to ask, can I comment in an Library thread even after 30 days? I read a message saying something like that, that we want your opinion and all, so, can I ? I promise it wil be meaningfull, to me a

 

As long as it's meaningful and drives conversation instead of just, "LOLOL this story is great!!!!" yes. It will have a little box asking if you want to necro and a small warning but as long as the post is not something either already said or what I just wrote and drives conversation about the story it's allowed.

Whether or not it's a good move to post in an old thread is debatable. Be prepared for people hating you for bringing up an old thread though. Some people just can't be satisfied.
