I would like to ask her what spell was the one used by Dumbledore, in the MoM duel, that made "Harry, though shielded by his golden guard, felt his hair stand on end as it passed and this time Voldemort was forced to conjure a shining silver shield out of thin air to deflect it" (OotP).

If I am not mistaken, I think that she was asked about it in a interview, but she refused to answer for some reason.

Would Tom Riddle still have turned into Voldemort if he was adopted by a loving family?

Not related to the books, but I would like to ask this to her face just to watch her response.

Have you (J. K. Rowling) ever taken it up the ass?

And if so, did you feel like Kinsfire's fugly wife?

What did the room in the Department of Mysteries that couldn't be opened contain?

    WTF is the veil?

How can Moody see through the badass invisibility cloak with his not as badass eye?

How does a global wizard Economy work with everyone using the same monetary rate?

How does the Ministry of Magic make money? Do they tax? I assume they do but how do they?

    How much does Hogwarts cost?

Can poor eyesight be repaired with magic?

Can anyone learn Parsetongue (I want a definite answer)?

This may be stupid but do the dorm rooms connect to a bathroom? I haven't really seen this mentioned and it seems weird that the prefect bathroom is so far away from the common room.

I'll come back and edit as I ponder more.

She's said that he was showing the first signs of evilness at the age of 5...so I'm guessing no. He's obviously born evil, not evil as a result of his environment.

She says that Dumbledore knew parseltongue, so that would be a yes. Well, I wouldn't imagine just anyone could learn it, just as not anyone can learn French, German, Chinese, etc etc. You need to be reasonably clever first.

... err ... Manatheron ... were you drunk while typing your initial post?

@Taure: Several of the questions you believe to be answered are valid.

Nevertheless the Goblins might be used for that, too, if a wizard trusts the Ministry even less than the Goblins.

    Did JKR state that somewhere?

And what about nonverbal magic? Accidental magic? Apparition? The Unforgivable Curses?

For instance the focus and the intention. See: Apparition, Avada Kedavra, ...

I second Mordecai. As only Snape bears the title "Master", it might be specifically granted to outstanding potion specialists.

That he was showing signs of evilness at 5 doesn't mean that he was born evil. And as your guesswork concerning the second question demonstrates, it is not clear, who can learn Parseltongue. Sadly, there is the Ron's stunt.

My questions (part 1, more might follow)

    The Elder Wand:
    - Why wasn't Dumbledore, wielder of the Elder Wand, able to overcome Voldemort in Book 5?

    Limitations of Magic:
    - Food cannot be conjured or transfigured. Nevertheless lifeless objects can be transfigured into living animals (McGonagall turns her desk into a pig in book 1). Why not having a barbecue with a transfigured desk-pig?
    - There are hints that magic wears off after a while (i.e. in book 6 Ron's self-correcting quill and the Fanged Frisbees in the Room of Requirements). What about the Fidelius Charm, Hogwarts Castle and its wards, magical Paintings, etc? Do magical objects need to be recharged after a while? Do they live on magic of their inhabitants (Grimmauld Place, The Burrow, Hogwarts and its paintings, etc)? Is that the reason why food 'cannot' or should not be conjured/transfigured?

    Conjuring:
    - To conjure something: Is it just transfiguring some air into a solid object?
    - Does the "Serpensortia" spell conjure a snake or summon a snake from elsewhere?

That's just reaching. DH clealy states that the Ministry is in charge of wills.

She's told us many of the names of those who have been on the Warlocks Council over the years: none of them have been from the same families.

    What about them?

Non-verbal magic is the same as verbal magic: you're just saying the incantation mentally rather than verbally.

Accidental magic is the only "intent-based" magic, but even here, only Tom Riddle has been able to control it, so it isn't really that intent based. You can intend to use accidental magic all you want, but it will only sometimes occur.

Apparition isn't a spell, it's a technique, like Occlumency. The three D's and all that. There's a clearly defined process and technique for apparition: it's much more than simply wishing yourself somewhere.

The unforgivable curses are just like any other magic. If you don't say the incantation, it's not going to happen. There is an emotional element to the spell, yes, but you can want to hurt someone as much as you want but if you don't say the incantation then nothing's going to happen.

Or not. We've seen very little magic in Harry Potter that needs any intent behind it. Patronus charm, the Cruciatus...that's about it. And even here, it's not really intent, it's emotions.

Snape is the only one that bears the title? I think not. McGonagall is the Transfigurations master, Flitwick is the charms master and so on. Again, I'll repeat myself: the use of the word "master" is not anything magical; it's simply the english language. Your answer to this question lies not with JK Rowling but with a wikipedia article on British schooling.

Again, reaching. I'm going to quote EvilSpanker:

Why wasn't Dumbledore, wielder of the Elder Wand, able to overcome Voldemort in Book 5?

For the same reason that Dumbledore was able to beat Grindlewald, even though Grindlewald had the Elder Wand.

    Elder wand =/= instant victory.

Incorrect. Food cannot be conjured, but it can be transfigured.

In OotP McGonagall states that conjuring is the opposite to vanishing. In DH, we learn that vanishing is sending an object "into non-being, which is to say, everything". Therefore, as conjuring is the opposite to vanishing, then conjuring is bringing an object out of non-being. So not transfiguring the air then.

Dark Minion, I know where Taure is coming from. It is traditional in British schooling (well, Public Schools anyway) that the teacher of a subject is the Master of a subject (this coming from a time when there would only be one teacher for every subject in the school). And is Hogwarts is very clearly based on British Public Schooling that would translate there. So, each teacher would be their Subject Master. I just would like her to confirm that no qualification outside of NEWTs is necessary to gain that position and thus that title.

Yeah, well, I'm sure JKR is fed up of answering questions she's already answered in either other interviews or canon.

OK, a few more comments and questions, Please clear them up for me if you can.

I recognize that, But WHY? just to talk to harry about his inheritance from Dumbledore? She could have done that beforehand, and how did Scrimgour get back into the ministry afterward then? I really doubt that Voldimort relinquished control after he'd taken it.
Yes, but why flee the school just before the battle? he could have helped just as much (More actually considering what happened in the shreeking shack) if he had stayed and declared his alliegence.

Yes but that doesn't explain harry's sudden ability to control when he does or does not get his visions, why is suddenly he able to control them?

Really? is that conjecture? Or was it in the book and I just missed it?

Why would the Flamels give Dumbledore the sorcerers stone? I'd think that they'd be able to hide it better than he would considering how much longer they'd been around.

How is it that a bunch of first year students able to get past a series of traps that were meant to stop the darkest wizard in recent history?

What happened to the Flamels? did they finally die? or just create a new stone?

What is the reason behind the wizarding world's profound dislike of parselmouths?

Why didn't Hogwart's board of governors ever sack Snape? surely a number of his former students would have complained about him.

Why isn't the cure for lycanthropy used more widely? Lockheart claimed he'd stolen the feats of other witches and wizards and it was one of those listed.

Did the marauders find all the secret passages out of Hogwarts? they obviously missed the CoS and the RoR but how much else?

How did the Marauders managed to enchant a piece of parchment to display the entirety of the school and all the people in it.

    I'll think up more later,

    Oh and Minion, No. ;-)

I believe JKR stated that they are both dead now.

While not stated, I would assume that the mark Slytherin left on history and the reign of terror Voldemort caused made people really have a fear of Parseltongue. It was well known that both of them could use the ability.

I got a couple more quesitons...

    1) Did Nicholas Flamel ever teach at Hogwarts?

    2) Who was the strongest of the Hogwarts founders?

    3) Is there anything else within the Chamber of Secrets? Secrets is pluralized, so I would assume that there may be more stuff Harry didn't find.

    4) Does a wizard have a magical core? How does a wizard draw on their magic? Where does it come from?

    5) If Dumbledore were an Animagus, what would his animal be?

    6) Same as above, but for Harry, Ron, and Hermione?

    7) What are the components of the Elder Wand? What is its core? Wood type? etc.

8 ) With both Dumbledore and Voldemort gone, would you say that Harry is the most magically powerful wizard in England?

    9) How long can a wizard be in their prime? I imagine a wizard like Dumbledore still being in his prime at 90 years old.

    10) What are the chances of Harry becoming Minister of Magic?

No, it was in the books. Dumbledore said something to Snape about his patronus still being like hers in the Snape memory chapter. I don't have the books with me, but in the next tag there's a quote from a JKR interview that confirms it.

Chely: James' Patronus is a stag and Lily's a doe. Is that a coincidence?
J.K. Rowling: No, the Patronus often mutates to take the image of the love of one’s life (because they so often become the ‘happy thought’ that generates a Patronus).

    I have some questions.

1)How does magic work? Do you have a finite or infinite amount?

2)Does it hurt your body when you use it?

3)Is the reason pople tire form using magic because of the strain it causes on their body?

    In answer to this...

Magic is non-quantifiable. You're either magical or you aren't: there aren't levels of "magicness".

Well, judging from the countless uses of magic in the Harry Potter books, and not one mention that it hurts, I'd be guessing not.

People tire from using magic? Quote please.

"Elder" is a type of tree, so the wand is made from Elder wood.

Rowena Ravenclaw. She's the wizard of the month of JKRs website at the moment, and it says that she was the most brilliant witch of her time.

Taure, maybe you are not telling us something? Maybe you are J.K. Rowling? BTW, the word elder has at least two different meanings. One is the wood type, other is like better, older (? I use a english - lithuanian dictionary for this so...) also, brilliant is not = strong. You can be a genius at theory and do nothing in practice. About tiring from using magic, please provide a quote that proves that wizards don't tire. Yes, that question needs to be rephrased, but anyways, we are writing questions TO J.K. Rowling and NOT Taure! :(

    Don't kill me... :D

As Dante just stated, Taure, Brilliant does not equal strong. I just figured I'd add that it states that Rowena Ravenclaw was the most brilliant witch of her time. Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin, both being quite male, are thusly both wizards, not witches. This stands to reason that, even if Ravenclaw was the most powerful witch of her time alongside being the most brilliant, that still says that she's the most powerful witch, not general user of magic.

Okay, I should have worded the founder question different. How about...

    1) Who is the overall best of the Hogwarts founders?

I get the feeling that JKR would give some answer like "Well, they all have weaknesses and strengths that equal each other out"
