So I don't have access to Pottermore at this time since I'm at work, but can someone with access perhaps copy/paste some of the relevant stuff from this.

For those who didn't click, JK and Pottermore rolled out a two-part "History of the Quidditch World Cup" on Pottermore and I kinda want to know if it'll be worth my time to look up when I get home.

Had to PDF it, select and paste, then manually transcribe the parts that the graphics ran over, but there it is.

I really enjoyed reading that. I think JKR is at her best when she talks about original historical events in Harry Potter. She just needs to avoid trying to incorporate established lore into it. I still haven't accepted the idea that Merlin attended Hogwarts.

I found her comment about small magical communities interesting. So, every nation may have a magical community, but a lot of them are so small they can't even form a Quidditch team. It brings up an interesting question about which countries have large and small magical populations. Britain is obviously one of the bigger ones and may possibly even be the largest.

Damn. So, all those fic writers were right about one thing. I just hope they don't think this proves their beliefs that wizarding UK is a backwater podunk society that has yet to be Enlightened.

    Also,

    That part cracked me up.

I'm sorry, but that book costs thirty-nine galleons, and Harry bought his wand for seven. "Ridiculously overpriced" indeed.

That, that's so something i expect a brazilian coach or player would do. Loved it. Even though it should be Barbosa, but oh well.
