    Inferi = Flood.

Fuck, I might have to go write that.

Edit: Actually, that's exactly what I thought when I read HBP.

    Edit2:
Clark's story is good, but I gave up on it when it reached one million words with no end in sight.

Inferi =/= Flood. The flood are an actual species who evolve through dead bodies, or live ones. The Flood are actually faster, stronger, smarter and all round better then those jokes they call Inferi.

What would happen if an infection form assimilated a wizard instead of a normal human? Would the flood form gain magical powers and become the most God-like creature ever to walk on Earth.

If your going to introduce a Gravemind, you should be careful about his speech as he speaks in Iambic Pentameter. Or you could ignore all that but then it wouldn't sound like Gravemind.

Grunts are the funniest things ever, you have to include grunts. And Hunters 'cause Hunters are cool.

How are you going to do the story? How are you going to make it a Halo-HP crossover?

The story starts during the first covenant attack on Earth. Harry's been asleep for around five hundred years.

Okay, how about this - Ginny Weasley is infected by a Flood Spore, and gets turned into one of these:

    http://images.wikia.com/halo/images/9/93/Flood_carrier.jpg

Rapidly all of Hogwarts is infected, leaving Harry to clear the infestation with only a magical barrier preventing anything getting in or out of the castle, a shotgun, and his wits.:)

    How about this:

Voldemort conducts a ritual. He expects a legion of demons to materialize and follow his bidding. What he actually gets is a squad of Special Operations Grunts recovering from the mother of all hangovers.

    Harry befriends a Hunter.
    Inquiry:
Any one know where a list of names that are appropriate for the covenant races.

Just google "Halo wikia", and follow the entry for "Halopedia". It'll have all the background information, including the name of the species.

not the species, I meant like the given names of the species... i.e. the elite known as Rtas 'Vadum.

All you need to know about Elite names,

In the Elite culture, names are considered a privilege and an honor for only those deemed worthy. The Elites generally consider humans to be nameless, and resent that the humans have assigned the label "Elite" to them. The word "Elite" is often transposed as an English translation of their own name in-game footage and other media. Elite names are constructed from a series of parts, each with a specific meaning. The first name is a given name that is attained at birth, which persists until adulthood. As they come of age, they earned the right to carry a badge name. This name is made up of three parts: an adjectival descriptor, such as "fast" or "deadly," a crèche or family name, and ee, an honorific indicating that the Elite is a military participant. Since the Great Schism all Elites in the rebellious faction have stripped their name of this honorific. Most Elites will have names with this kind of construction.[9] It appears that additional titles may be given to those of very high rank, such as Xytan 'Jar Wattinree. Since "Jar" is not a part of the standard Elite name, it may be assumed that it denotes Xytan's status as Imperial Admiral, although this has yet to be confirmed. There is no other reference, however, of other names with this sort of addition, as no other Elites above the rank of Zealot have been named. All Elites are skilled in hand to hand combat. Even the most humble of Elite citizens back on their homeworld is a surperior fighter to humans.

All you need to know about Grunt names,

Due to their low status, Grunts are not permitted by the Elites to possess family names. They do value their ties to their offspring, but are usually separated from their families at an early age by the requirements of their service to the Covenant. The Grunts resent this greatly, but due to their social status in the Covenant are unable to muster any response. It is also interesting to note that Grunts do appreciate many of the luxuries presented to them in their service to the Covenant, one of them being heat, as stated by the Grunt Kwassas.

    And finally, Hunter names.

Hunters have three names: personal name, bond name, and line name. The personal name is given at birth. The line name represents the genetic heritage, being the name of the most successful Hunter of his ancestors. If one reaches a certain level of status, his offspring will have his personal name as their line name. The bond name is taken between bonded pairs, a relationship about which little is known, but it appears to be something like a lifelong brother. Examples of names include Igido Nosa Hurru, and Ogada Nosa Fasu.

Doctor, turning Ginny into a carrier form would make sense, who will she kill first.

While reading some parts in Halopedia, I found that a Hunters latin name is 100 snakes, so useing this, you could make Harry talk to Hunters.

Getting back to Dr. Who, here's a very short crossover with Buffy. It's actually quite good. Mhalachai crosses the two 'verses with consumate ease. The character driven writing won't appeal to everyone though.

    Angels and Drums
    Part 1 - http://www.tthfanfic.com/Story-15563/Mhalachai+Five+Times+The+Doctor+Met+Someone+New.htm
    Part 2 - http://www.tthfanfic.com/Story-15693/Mhalachai+Seeking+Arcana.htm

Part 1 contains a few other brief crossovers with a Wizard of Oz TV series and Supernatural. I haven't watched either of them. The fics stand on their own well enough though.

I'm just hoping Mhalachai updates Inevitable sometime soon.

It's the only Anita Blake/Harry Potter crossover I've found where Harry is *gasp* not taking it in the arse from everything in the Vampire Hunter setting that has a dick. Say what you will about the series, its mechanics/mythology for undead, vampires, lycanthropes, et cetera are pretty cool.

Yeah, it's been a while. Mhalachai has too much angst in her older fics. Way too much. Dawning Light still fails hard for angst (even the new chaps). Inevitable has a lot less than the others, especially in the more recent chapters; or, at least the angst better fits the characters and situations where it does appear. A few of those early scenes I almost skipped completely on my second read through. Nathaniel's post-torture moodiness pissed me off the most I think. It's a good read overall though.

Harry getting closer to Ginny and Luna is a nice touch. Very bloody nice. If it wasn't for that and the developing magical connection between Harry and Anita, I wouldn't much care for the fic. Mhalachai has noticeably improved her writing over time. She has a large backlog of fics to get lost in.

Inevitable is very long... and I don't mean the 70+ chaps already released. Have you read any of her short fics set in future parts of that timeline? She's got things planned a long, long way ahead. The ficlets can be tracked down on her LJ rather than on her fanfic website. I think she considers them all canon parts of her story line. One of them was referencing an adult, ex-Human Servant Harry Potter who'd become somewhat estranged from Ginny and Luna.

Given the release rate of chapters the author will be dead before she finishes. If she just finishes the Voldemort arc and the Ginny/Luna consumation then I'll be happy. :)

My favourite Mhalachai fanfic is probably the plot-drive Anita Blake / Stargate SG1 crossover, Balancing Act. Those are two universes I never expected to see successfully crossed over, but she pulls it off so well that we're convinced that werewolves and vampires have always co-existed alongside Cheyenne Mountain and the adventures of the Stargate characters.

Strange crossovers can work. Even HP and Doctor Who. <-- My token (and futile) attempt at staying on topic.

That's why I stay away from any fic that advertises vampires. They're almost always written by either slash-loving spinsters or starry-eyed 16yo vampire food.

Heh, have you read Mhalachai's Anita/Dumbledore smut fic? It's like kryptonite to starry-eyed 16yo's and slash-loving spinsters.

Yeah, it seems pretty good. I've never read the books though, only fanfic, so my opinion doesn't mean much. I saw the first two or three Anita Blake books collected in an omnibus at a bookstore once... I was tempted to buy it but I have so much other stuff to read already! And I'm fully aware that the later books in the series devolve from hard boiled detective noir fiction to adult vampire porn for lonely ladies. Goddamn authors pandering to their reader's demographic.

    So. Much. Fail.

I couldn't finish it; I struggled to chapter four. It reads like a plot summary of a story. Harry is definitely a Mega Super Powered Marty Sue. The plot is epic in it's fail. Characters, what characters? Don't basilisks have a fatal gaze? Don't worry about it Harry, the author didn't.

Maybe the fic gets better in the next chapter... That was a joke. Haha. Fat chance.

Whew, for a moment there I thought you were talking about Azraeos' fic.

But yeah, I agree. The other one was terrible enough to provoke a flame on my part several months ago.

I was thinking, its not a Harry Potter, but an Assassin's creed Batman cross, preferably with Talia in it.
As Black Wizard of Middle Earth, it has been the only HP-LOTR story I have found on FF.net that is tolerable, since most the others are giant piles of shit, and the majority slash.
