Played a Garen game today. Spin2Win. Nasus had no chance.

 

Just played my first promo game, got crushed.

Sona/Corki vs Jinx/Leona - Why people still aren't banning Jinx I'll never know. Anyway, Leona started shield + 1 pot. No wards at all on their bot lane. They push the whole time and we can't farm because Jinx's Q is just stupidly strong in lane.

Vi doesn't come bot till 9 minutes, so their jungler's already there and their mid comes for fun too.

Team spends the rest of the game saying we lost 2 vs 2 when we got no help against a bot lane that was aggro all day and never warded. I just... Where is the logic in that? People are dumb.

Summary of the rest of the game was people trying to farm, getting caught, blaming my lack of vision when I'm starved. Our shining moment? we killed 4 - Shen goes back top to farm, Vi does red. Dragon was up, all their towers were up and we did nothing. Why are these people in Plat IV again?

Edit; 1-1 Now, their mid was a Diamond V Lee - definitely one of those boosted accounts, that or he was drunk. LeBlanc crushed him, 0-4 by 7 minutes. I Voli'd up again against Vlad, FB'd him when Elise ganked and then he kept taking tower shots trying to harrass so I just flash combo'd him. We both had crap farm but it was a good game as we rolled them over, and I finally made a friend in their Vayne after 2 v 1ing her & Leona bot.

5-0-6 that game.

 

Lost another with a derpy ragey toxic Nautilus who started 2 minutes late, then won as Cait with a Wukong support vs Jinx/Viktor. Go figure.

 

With a 3-3-8 Voli game where we got trashed early despite me getting FB again, we came back in the late because Lee/LeBlanc fall off hard despite them having like 15 kills between them. Voli is just a beast.

All the credit goes to our Zyra support who caught Sona with a root, on the front, on her own, she got murdered before they could peel and we steamed forward from there.

Gold IV to Gold II, yay mmr!

 

Won Hard as Thresh, good team working together. Next game lost vrs Jinx, Zed, Kayle. Kayle would just ulti whoever was nearby to dive in and explode one of us, so anoying, and our tank would just run instead of ever initiating. No objective control, vision was everywhere, but they'd ignore pick off chances. Sliver of health Leona wandering around our jungle with the other 4 up top? Time to farm minions.

 

Lost as Noct due to a 20 kill Jinx not being able to do a fucking thing, back to 0 lp.

Then won again as Noct, essentially by being a sacrificial lamb for Panth ults. Dive in darkness, he dives in a split second latter, gg. I got 5 deaths, but I got him 20 kills. Happy face. +20 lp. Cant get out of Bronze due thanks to afk's and dcs. driving me insane.

...Lost again, Diana tower diving an Ahri over and over, Panth that was god previous game we got as Panth again... and Garen handed him his ass. They fed so hard so fast not a damn thing we could do to salvage it, especially with Leona dc'd 3 minute in. Back to 2 LP. #thestruggle.

 

Alright, so myself and some friends made a ranked threes team a few months ago. We did pretty well but kind of had to put a hold on it while I was underway. I come back and one of the friends invited our shitty other friends to the team and sank it to bronze 5. Me and the other friend decide 'Ah what the hell. We work well together, it'll be fun to climb out of the bronze pit together.'

We haven't yet, and it's insane. We're all mid silver players solo queue, but tend to do very well together. Other silvers and even some gold teams we do well against. The other bronze teams we tend to decimate. One thing happens though that's very, very, very aggravating.

We've been hovering in our promotional series to bronze one for a while now. Why? Because in each of our series, we've been pitted against platinum teams in our second matches EVERY. FUCKING. TIME.

A few times we've done decent and almost pulled out a win, but in general the teamwork of these teams is just unlike anything else we face normally, and it's always a slap in the face to us. We never know what to expect in our matches anymore.

Anyone on here know why this is? At this point we're debating scrapping the team and making a new one so we can possibly level out our team MMR with new placement matches.

For a little info, our team comp is normally ZAC(me) Aatrox, and Swain. If Zac gets banned (rare) I bring out Sejuani. We've also done Leona, Thresh, Fizz with some success.

 

Tips? Sure. Get better 3v3 champs. Capture altars, take advantage of the jungle, gank often.


About MMR, it has to do with that, and the fact that there way less 3v3 ranked teams, so some imbalance in players is expected. However, I regularly beat Diamond SoloQ players in 3v3. Why? Because Twisted Treeline is a completely different map, with different pacing, different objectives, and different playstyles. Someone better than me in SoloQ, unless much better than me mechanically, doesn't have to be better in TT.

 

Who would you say are better three's champs? We generally use that team because it has a high amount of AOE CC, and Swain and Aatrox have good survivability while dealing damage.

Edit: We also tend to mix in Jax, Garen, Udyr, Jinx, and Chogath.

I (clearly) prefer tanky champs with decent CC. The Swain/Fizz player prefers AP assassins, and our other teammate is kind of all over the place but shows preference for high speed AD champs.

 

Your picks are all over the place.
Well, I suppose your team kinda fits the general idea of bruiser comp, but I don't see many Aatrox's in 3v3. And when I do, it doesn't end well. Your comp can work, but Zac and Aatrox can be very hit and miss (literally) and thats bad in TT.
Generally, you want champions with strong early-mid game and high mobility. Aatrox, Zac (to a lesser extent Swain too) are beasts late game, but it rarely gets that far in TT.
If an Aatrox misses the knockback he's useless in TT, unless your enemy is very bad. Similarly, Zac doesn't bring any damage, which a team can't afford to do in TT. Aatrox's damage is atrocious without items, and you usually only complete about 2 full items in a game.

What we used to run, back with my undefeated 3v3 team was Olaf-Diana-Mordekaiser. They may seem like weird picks, but they follow the mode of AD tanky and/or mobile initiator, AP bruiser, AP tanky damage dealer. I would occasionally swap Morde for Cho when I needed to survive enemy burst and/or needed to interrupt enemy channels.
I've also run some LeeSin/Riven-Amumu-Mordekaiser, although Amumu is a very bad choice on TT. The guy insisted on Amumu.
Anyway, what you want in TT is Mobility, Damage, and Tankiness. Sustain also helps. The champions you use, except Zac, can work, but there are others much better. You want bullies.

I would never have a Zac on my team. I would prefer almost any AD other than Aatrox. Swain is somewhat ok, but he is very weak early, which can be used to shut him down.
People like Olaf, Lee Sin, Riven, are good AD/Tanky choices, and champs similar to them who are not complete glass cannons and have strong early game and mid game.
Diana is great on TT because of her great initiation, high burst damage and innate tankiness.
Mordekaiser es numero uno because 4v2, immortal, and huehuehue.

See what I'm getting at?

 

Pretty much every top laner and jungler do really well in 3v3, as well as some mid laners, mostly the assassin types. I'm also like to play Ezreal because his mobility is godlike on that map.

 

So I was in my last match to get into silver. (didn't play for a while and decayed into bronze 1)

In champ select my opponent chose singed, so I thought well I can lose two more games so what the hell I'll play Teemo.
Somehow no objections on my team and we get into the game.

Shyvana starts red and I watch blue for her when out of no where a wild singed shows up.
I was so surprised I only auto attacked him once before he got into the top tri bush.
I didn't want to face check him so I go through river to lane. when minions show up this singed decides to just start proxying.
So I was like not on my watch so I go down to chase him off he goes down and disappears to blue at about half hp from minion damage.

So I think he's going back to the lane through river, but lo and behold Singed appears out of tri bush runs under turret and activates his poison which gives him turret aggro, so I just kill him.

I won that game 12/3/19 got into silver and I got to play teemo to boot.

 

Alright, so instead of Zac, what if I were to bring in Volibear/Wukong/Vi? I also wouldn't object to trying out that Olaf. I've had some fun on the viking, but not a lot of practice with him.

 

The Vi should work just fine. You should play Olaf only if you are confident in your ability to win 1v1 matchups in top lane. Will hesitantly approve Volibear and Wukong, for having high damage while building tanky, and decent mobility.

 

We ran into this. Steamrolled the hell out of the first two teams we played, then suddenly top tier players and teams. Couldnt get away from them, couldn't do anything but go down horribly. Wound up getting so aggrivated by it we just stopped playing the map.

 

In 3v3, pick more early game overlords like Renekton and Lee Sin. Kayle also is like 100% ban or pick if you have any ability playing her. Some other allstar champs include Riven, Vi, Leona, Yorick(can control lane against duo), Karma, Shyvanna, Jarvan IV and Ezreal

Those diamond solo queue stars are not a problem if you have a gameplan, most of them have no idea how TT is played nowadays.

And, having 3 kind of bruisers is the old style in TT. Try picking that against a balanced comp and get shredded.

You have to consider, does the 2 solo lane and jungle comp work well for you, or would you be better going support + AD duo bot and getting magic damage top, and controlling jungle by pushing bot and roaming into jungle. Those are the 2 main variations on the map.

 

Eh, I think I mentioned a while back that I made a 3's team and we won twelve matches in a row. Placed Gold 3, skipped Gold 2, and suddenly around 80 LP in Gold 1, consecutively went against multiple all-Diamond teams. Diamond Solo/Duo, and Diamond in 3's. The first match-up actually had an alternate 3's team that was in Challenger.

In general, I've had good success with teams such as Zyra, Xin Zhao plus other(Wukong is lovely in 3's, actually). Quinn, Sejuani plus other. Had a nice 4 win streak with Quinn top and Leona/Xin bot.

Personally, I've most played Quinn, Zyra, Karma, Shyvana and Sejuani for 3's.
