I recently went out and ordered the first 10 books of The Dresden Files and went to pick them up last night only to find some bitch sold MY copies of books 3, 4, 5 and 6 so now I have 1-2 and 7-10. As you can imagine I was pretty pissed off.

Ive finished Storm Front and am half way through Fool Moon so my question is this. Is it essential to read the books in order? I dont want to have the few books Im missing spoiled by reading the latter books if this is the case then I will just wait til next week when books 3-6 come in for me, which sucks because Im becomming addicted to the books, they are a real good read.

 

Read them in order. If you're that desperate for them, you could come onto IRC, and get some help from there.

 

Yeah wait and read 3-6 before getting started on 7-10. You could probably skip book 2 if you had too but thats the only one I would ever say you could get away with skipping. And you have that one. Its not vital to have 3-6 to understand 7-10 but you wont understand everything and be confused a bit at times.

It doesnt all happen quickly, although some of it does, but later on stuff starts coming back in new and exciting ways to either bite Dresden in the ass or help him.

 

Plus, if you read a book from later in the series then read an earlier book you will have spoiled some of the major plot twists/events.

 

Its all good, not going to skip ahead and read 7-10 ahead of schedule. I realised as I was reading Fool Moon that the books arent stand alone they need to be read as a series so Im just waiting til thursday when 3-6 should be ordered in for me.

Got books 3-6 today, cause of the fuck up got one free and $10 off my next order, so Ive already ordered in book 11, Turn Coat, which I'm pretty dam sure I ordered in the first place but oh well.
